- Bud Frimoth, my father, and other religious TV and radio broadcasters got to interview Fred Rogers during a religious media convention held in South Padre Island, Texas in Nov of 1978. The group interviewed Fred about the role of theology in mass media, specifically TV.
We lost the greatest neighbor we ever had the day Fred Rogers died.
It's amazing to hear how Fred was so deeply thoughtful about the content of his program
I have two people I feel are my heroes, and that’s Malcolm X and Fred Rogers
Now that's quite a range of heroes. I wonder what they would have thought of each other.
@@chrisfrimoth7245 good question! Both were extremely convicted about morales and societal standards. One came from great wealth (if you read about Fred, his family was very well off), and the other from extreme poverty. But in the end, to me, they both strove for relatively the same things
@@edk2221 @ed k Thanks for your input. My dad got to know Fred and became friends for many years. Dad interviewed Fred several times over the years. Fred certainly had a loving environment growing up and that suited him well for his vocation. Malcolm was a fighter and sadly misunderstood. I appreciate your thoughts.
@@chrisfrimoth7245 That's awesome that your father got to meet Mr Rogers and they become good friends, did you ever get the chance to meet him ?
Self-love is extremely important...love yourself first cause you can't truly love anyone else til you do. I learned this in a rehabilitation program recently.
18:13 If he could only see how bad it's affecting children and adults alike today, it's way worse.
This is a fascinating recording. Thank you for sharing it!
Mr Rogers is at rue hero
@@garyparker1220 He's my Hero!!
He touched so many people lives by his love beautiful heart soul spirit
Fred Rogers is a hero that wears sweaters. How lovely.❤️😺
He was a good and great man. We need more hearts like his in the world. He was one of a kind
What a beautiful interview between like minded souls
This is a amazing recording! Thank you for posting this!
He was so authentic, so real and 100% a true gentleman
I’m amused that Mister Rogers said he hated the minister character on the Waltons and was happy when he was written off. You’d expect Mister Rogers to not even hate fictional characters!
Though he doesn't give a date, the factory fire was from Mr. Rogers's 1st year in 1968
At the time of this interviews, MRN was mostly out oof production though its reruns were still being shown, though done of the 68 episodes were being rebroadcast.
I've seen the factory fire uploaded and it's on The Internet Archive and I can see why some kids were frightened of it.
Seems i found my audio to animate n practice subtle emotions with! How charming these voices are and what theyre saying ♡
I have been self destructive for years. I used to harm myself when I was mad with someone cause I couldn't handle my own emotions. Every once in a while it rears its ugly head with a relapse.
When he was alive, you could see his soul from space.
He would have made an excellent president.
Just by listening to his voice, you can tell this man was a meditator.
Thank you so much for sharing this!!
I've never seen the springtime show but the funny thing when Mr. Rogers resumed production, Betty's Little Theater was phased out. To this day I don't know why that happened.
Captain Kangaroo was the guest on Springtime with Mr. Rogers. The special, to my knowledge, hasn't been seen since 1980.
Mr.Rogers needs the Iron neck
The part about Harvard and Yale is really foreshadowing of how big universities have become places that aren't open to discourse and debate on many things today, and often push new ideas as facts and truth.
Any more? This is a very interesting conversation/lecture

When Fred finally came out of the closet as a gay man I gained even more respect for him
Never heard that story. Maybe you're just messin' with me.
He was never gay. He was married with his wife for a long time till his death.
@@chrisfrimoth7245 He's trolling, BUT... "The Good Neighbor" is a biography written by Maxwell King and published with the approval of Rogers' widow and family. The book touches briefly on sexual orientation, and it quotes Mister Rogers saying that if sexual orientation was a scale of 1-10, he considered himself a five. Betty Aberlin, Lady Aberlin on the "Neighborhood," has also said that she got the impression from working closely with Mister Rogers that he was bisexual, but never really acted on it. He was faithful to his wife for their entire marriage, and they had a solid marriage.
Always have some cheap evil crap to add on to a special person who loved children. Shame on you..
@@garyroberts8742I agree. The man is one of my heroes. Shame on those who seek to pervert heroes.
Meet Fred Rogers.
Quiet. Soft spoken. Always smiling.
But with a barely noticeable rage percolating just beneath the surface…
“Mr. Rogers: Serial Killer”
(Mr. Rogers glares at you with a bloody knife in his hand and blood on his cardigan, hissing “Won’t you be my SLAYbor?”)
If they can make a movie turning Abe Lincoln into a vampire hunter, why not? 😉
