She Didn't Care
Просмотров 1265 месяцев назад
During my high school and college years we had a next door neighbor, who was a mother of 4, and would become, surprisingly, a mentor to me without her or even myself knowing it. This is a song about reflecting back on those days and what she meant to me.

In 2020, I was watching a Tiny Desk Concert on NPR online. Taylor Swift was the artist. Not knowing much about her I was interested in her approach to songwriting. Taylor mentioned that in almost every interview she does she is asked if she can write a positive love song. Swift said the question often messes with her mind wondering if she actually do a positive love song. She then said, "I just...

And on this street every window Save but one was gleaming bright And to this window walked the boy-child Peeking in saw candlelight. Noel, Noel... Through other windows he h...

Meet Fred Rogers. Quiet. Soft spoken. Always smiling. But with a barely noticeable rage percolating just beneath the surface… “Mr. Rogers: Serial Killer” (Mr. Rogers glares at you with a bloody knife in his hand and blood on his cardigan, hissing “Won’t you be my SLAYbor?”) If they can make a movie turning Abe Lincoln into a vampire hunter, why not? 😉

I've never seen the springtime show but the funny thing when Mr. Rogers resumed production, Betty's Little Theater was phased out. To this day I don't know why that happened.

Though he doesn't give a date, the factory fire was from Mr. Rogers's 1st year in 1968 At the time of this interviews, MRN was mostly out oof production though its reruns were still being shown, though done of the 68 episodes were being rebroadcast. I've seen the factory fire uploaded and it's on The Internet Archive and I can see why some kids were frightened of it.

I’m amused that Mister Rogers said he hated the minister character on the Waltons and was happy when he was written off. You’d expect Mister Rogers to not even hate fictional characters!

@@chrisfrimoth7245 He's trolling, BUT... "The Good Neighbor" is a biography written by Maxwell King and published with the approval of Rogers' widow and family. The book touches briefly on sexual orientation, and it quotes Mister Rogers saying that if sexual orientation was a scale of 1-10, he considered himself a five. Betty Aberlin, Lady Aberlin on the "Neighborhood," has also said that she got the impression from working closely with Mister Rogers that he was bisexual, but never really acted on it. He was faithful to his wife for their entire marriage, and they had a solid marriage.

@@chrisfrimoth7245 good question! Both were extremely convicted about morales and societal standards. One came from great wealth (if you read about Fred, his family was very well off), and the other from extreme poverty. But in the end, to me, they both strove for relatively the same things

@@edk2221 @ed k Thanks for your input. My dad got to know Fred and became friends for many years. Dad interviewed Fred several times over the years. Morgine Jurdan 1 day ago Sadly this Incredible, BEAUTIFUL song, whose story has played itself out again and again over the years in too many ways. Thank you for sharing this moment. I still remember the story... I think in WWI? Where on Christmas Eve both sides agreed to stop fighting and met around a fire, shared food and photos they carried of their families. The next day when they got up, they could not bear thinking about killing the very people they shared with around the fire the night before. The generals made sure that never, ever happened again. The TRUTH shall set us free. In reality, we are more the Same than we are different. I am unique and different, however, comparing the things we share in common, those things win out hands down. Thank you again for such a Meaningful song!
