    in directivity, why we multiplied and divided by p1, why not directly use s43? what is the use of s43 then? also when we calculated s matrix, it had zeros in it, but this example has no zero in matrix.

    in 8:11, The coupling factor should be power at the input(P1) to power coupled at the output in the auxiliary arm(P4).
    C = 10 (log P1/P4) db.

    I think this is incorrect. For the coupler to have any directivity, the isolation must be greater than the coupling factor. Many directional couplers are backward wave couplers. If you consider port 3 as the coupled port and port 4 as the isolated port, than it will be a backward wave coupler. Under this assumption, the coupling factor then becomes 20 dB and the isolation is 26 dB. That will give you 6 dB of directivity (quite poor).
