Title // Take me home, country roads
Arrangement // Renee Craig
W&M // John Denver, Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert
Made famous by John Denver & Fallout 76
the bass singer is never the person you expect.. very good!
Well, Barbershop Quartets have a standard for where each part is supposed to stand. From left to right, theyre supposed to stand:
Tenor, Lead, Bass, Bari
Of course there are variations, but this is the "Standard" standing arrangement and thats usually how you tell who is who.
That bass has such a lovely tone! (The Tenor does too!)
Christopher Cosby Music Yh I would love too sing like that
Fellow bass lover, hello there.
Reinhardt Wilhelm basses be under appreciated 😤
When everyone only talks about the bass but the tenor is in the 5th octave, with great clarity and it seems effortless.
One of them has enough hair for all of them
You made me spit out my fucking tea
And a smugness that makes me want to slap his face. Go figure.
Lol
That could be a communism meme.
Lololol
Ok so 100% I never expected the one with hair to be the bass.
yeah i thought he was the light voice one the one you kinda hear the best XD
He can get low. Like down on the floor low. He’s got the hair for it
I know, I was lookin at Jason being the base, but Rhett caught me off guard.
Yeah, everyone was talking about how unexpected it was, and I was such thinking it was the guy on the far left, but now that you mention it, I really see it
IS HE????
1:00 the bass 👌
@shadowtrooper 1
Me
Chest Note: E1-G5 (A5 hurts my throat rip) = Now fry C1-C6
Subharmonic: F1-n/a (idk my high lol between a chest note) = still the same, still learning...
Growl (my favourite type): C1-C2 = Now G0-D2
I hope you enjoy what you do. I suggest if not already, listening to Geoff..... a long name (Voiceplay), and Tim Foust who can reach A0.
@@ecoops123 dude how can you growl a C2🙁. My throat is so damaged when I try such a high note. And BTW how long did it take you to learn subharmonics.
@@niklasjeanscapbauer7855 Growling at high notes can be painful at points, yes....
I'm still trying to learn subharmonics, I'm just keeping on F1/E1 until trying to increase range.
Ecoops 123 got that W I D E range dude very nice, a fellow low bass i got respect
I legit never hears that note before I had to focus on it to hear it
I can't stop replaying 1:20. Rhett is such a good bass!
He sure is!
In terms of armony 1:06 is my favourite passage
That's a great spot :). For me it's actually 1:35. Love that chord finding its place :)
I'd love to be able to sing bass like that :D
Yup, you always want what you can't have, I guess :D.
this was absolutely amazing I am in awe of the bass singer especially
Yup, he's a killer :D. Lovely voice!

So these are the faces of the voices behind the Raptorshop Quartet from RageGamingVideos. Awesome cover.
I was looking for this comment

@@FestustTheRoboDragon me too
It's how I found this video as well.
I’m watching that video currently
I can’t be the only one who assumed the bass was the guy on the far right? Quiff guy kills it though.
D Clarke no I did too
You can tell that Rhett is the bass because of his facial expressions when he sings certain notes in the bass range. And the traditional barbershop arrangement is Tenor, Lead, Bass, Baritone
The youngest is the bass
european!
the bass at 1:00... that was ridiculous!!! this has been on repeat since i heard it. sonny you are doing such an incredible job!!! i love every one of your songs! keep up the awesome work
Bet they aren't wearing pants
Well okay thats the end of the song

Jason 033123 he died like 20 mind away from where I live there’s a memorial at the site
May he never be forgotten. God bless
nice bass sound
+amiedetherese He sure does have that! I'm glad he was there to record the bass... I can never get that tonal quality on those low notes :). Great sound :)
Sonny Vande Putte sir all of you were brilliant
Haha thank you very much for that :)
The bass in this quartet Made the bass in my speaker go off
Rhett is a great bass, but you should have put him on the far right side. That would have been a better progression of hairlines. 😊
Haha great idea for the next video :)
Plus you should have learned in like, third grade music class that a bass loses at least half an octave when not placed on the end. :P
the reason he has it the way it is because the usual barbershop arrangement is tenor lead bass baritone
IceColdGamer Or Baritone Bass Lead Tenor e.g. Main Street
Ryan Davis yes. Either arrangement works!
me and my band friends have harmonized to this i dont know how many times during a car ride
This is ridiculously amazing, the blend is fantastic and the balance is perfect.
Edit: Jeez. This comment blew up.
Speedsetting > 0.75 = PERFECT!!
Mo Mentum Thank You
I agree
perfect !! hehe
Mo Mentum 👌
damn. I didn't even know you could do that.. SO MUCH BETTER!
The voices of genprey everywhere.
Can't get over how amazing this sounds, these videos have given me a growing passion for barbershops and you're the best I've found. So thank you :)
Wow, that's the best kind of compliment, Nathan. Thank you so much for letting me know :D.
Holly crap, that kid Rhett is unbelievable.
He sure is :). I wish I could hit those bass notes like he does :)
@@sgtsonny have you tried hair? :p
1:20 was anybody suprised that this guy was bass to? Or, was it just me?
Yeah i thought it wad the one with light Brown skin
I think hair dude looks like a lead.
It was a D2, but at 1:02 he hit a C♯2

Listen to this guy^^ @Maximus Sparticus
Just gotta say, I've been following you for quite some time now, and this is the first time that I've seen a new video pop up. Thank you, all of you, for the wonderful barbershop that you put together. I LOVE barbershop music, and you sing some of the best songs there are for barbershop! Thank you soo much!
+Allan Caldwell-Boeder Thank you very much, Allan. I post a video every single month, so I'm sorry you don't get a notification for every video I publish. It'll probably have something to do with the settings of your RUclips account. I'm glad you enjoy my recordings as much as you do, man. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Agreed, you guys sound awesome. Same here, have always wanted to sing A Capella and everyone says that i should especially as deep as my voice is. Maybe one day whenever I can find the right willing folks. But stay sounding great guys!
Sensational! I have, more than once, driven through that "Mountain Mama," and it is more beautiful than any song could describe -- but your virtual quartet does a superb job of evoking the FEELINGS inspired by those "country roads." Thank you, all of you, so much!
+sonyahannah Haha you're very, very welcome :). Thanks you for those wonderful words of encouragement again.

The Elite God he went KABOOM
Can we just take a second to appreciate the blend of the baritone? My goodness he just blends in so perfectly with the texture of their sound and I'm here for it!
Everyone says this is too fast. I disagree. It is certainly faster than the original, but I think that the fast tempo is a nice twist. It also plays to the acapella nature of this version. With no drums and strumming guitar, if they were slower people would feel a bit like it was dragging. I would say to those who think it should be slower that the upbeat tempo is merely a clever manipulation to enhance the orchestration horizontally.
Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate Rhett’s sweet low chest voice.
Benjamin Boswell agreed
Point taken. Even accomplished a cappella singers are more comfortable hitting precisely together those tiny semiquavers after long notes by speeding a little the original tempo. This twist gives a better meaning to the contrasting final section, with slower tempo. Did you all dig that slide at 1:34?
I dig it, but I dig that modulation even more.
.75 isn't better agree, but when you listen to it I think you do wish it was that speed, closer to the original, but also it's a song of longing that's not somthingf to rush, like when people cover little wing and it's 7 minutes of guitar solos, they've missed the point the songs beautiful because it ends so swiftly and leaving you want more your not just lookin at the music anymore you are lookin at the emotion it captions
Coyote Peterson has a really good voice i like it
1:02 Man, that’s low.
Yeah but off track. It is not smooth.though appealing
what
I legit never hears that note before I had to focus on it to hear it
yes!!! I absolutely love this. I am so glad you did this arrangement!!
+Sam Glas Thanks a lot, Sam! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much :)
Sonny and ''crew'' It's sound great in my opnion. The speed is to my liking. The person who did the Bass F*ING great. At the end the slower speed makes it feel like the ''original'' version VERY GOOD JOB (my opinion 10/10 would like again)
Thanks so much for the kind word, Raoul. I really appreciate the supportive message :).
Wowza, get caught stumbling around youtube for an hour and come across this gem! Great harmony and vocals! Love the happy facial expressions throughout the song, really brings out the quartet spirit. And like everyone else, that bass amazed me, its incredible with earphones in! Loved it
Yup, Rhett is a beast :). I wish I had that tone in my lower register :). Thanks for stopping by!
That Baritone Sonny bit at the end was ambrosia! Very well done, as always. I'm not used to hearing it sung that fast. No problem--sometimes the unexpected makes me listen more carefully. But I was craving that slow part at the end, and your warm, rich tone at 2:00 to the end fulfilled all my expectations. Thank you for the smile on my face.
Great bass! All four parts were very nice, and you handle low notes quite well when you're on your own, but adding a true bass for this particular arrangement was an excellent idea.
+janetranslates Thank you so much for many, many kind words again!! You're such a kind person. Me singing bass on this one was out of the question. Singing a Db with such a rich tone is out of the question for me :). Thanks for stopping by and making me feel like a million bucks again :).
You're worth every penny of those million bucks! (Too bad it's just a figure of speech.)
+janetranslates Too bad indeed :D.
That is an awesome arrangement I love John Denver and I think a lot more of his music should be here ranged thank you Sonny thank you so much I love your show I love your entertainment you’re the best
That bass hit a D...... and here I am struggling with a F
I feel your pain!
I can only hit an e flat and it makes me angry
The Kings Guard It is still a major 2nd difference T^T
I'd much rather be a tenor then have low notes if I'm being honest
I'm pretty sure he got a low c sharp at one point
Fantastic arrangement and delivery. Beautiful.
Hey man, you´re doing so absolutely well, I love the sound of your voice and your arrangements :-)
Thank you very much for the kind words! Unfortunately these aren't my arrangements (I'm not that good :)). You can always find the arranger in the bottom right corner of my videos. Thanks for stopping by!
Nonetheless it is a great performance :-)
Thank you very much!

Great job yall. I’m from West Virginia and I’ve always lived here my whole life, it may not be the richest or the most populated but it’s my home and I will always love it’s beauty and EVERY single thing about it
1:02 my bass made me jump like hell!! that dude with enough hair for the two others scared the ever living shit out of me xD that bass line was INSANE!!
Really excellent, Sonny. I feel that your work just keep getting better, song after song. Just keep up this way, you're great !!!
+Flavien THIEBAULT Haha thank you so much! Hope I can keep this upward motion throughout my next couple of videos :). Thanks for stopping by!
1:22 this man’s face knowing you thought it was was the guy on the right but it was him
Terrific 4 part harmony here! All the parts are fantastic. The bass really hits it as well. The speed is perfect, IMHO, for this arrangement. Thank you to the singers for nailing this song and making such a wonderful piece of vocal music! :-)

Wow, the entire piece is just beautiful. The ending...the ending hit me hard. Bravo!

I can't fathom that you can sing so well. I just can't wrap my head around it. Sonny, a truly talented singer you are. And those other two gentlemen.
Haha thank you so much. I weirdly totally understand what you're talking about. I also know a couple of singers of which I just can't understand how they do it :). I'm pleased to know that I can be that guy to somebody else :D. Thank you so much :)
I found this by complete accident.
10/10
I love their stuff you can easily pick out the part and learn it but it still harmonizes beautifully
But i loved this John Denver number ! Great processing . Congratulation ! The bass very beautiful !!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words :).
With you every song is a nice travel .
Hahaha thanks so much :)
Do not laugh!
You also travel on the music wing !!
I laugh because I get enthusiastic from your kind words. Thanks!
This was the song that made me get my butt in gear! Proud to be a patreon of such talent!

Wow, what a great group. Harmonizes so well!
Holy crap that bass note at 1:02
That slide up on Mama made me legitimately drop my jaw. I am not an easy person to surprise like that. This cover is amazing.
my favorite John Denver song
He has some great songs! It was very hard to just pick one :)
One of my favourites. Absolutely fantastic!

Devin Walker LOL just watched that video and heard this song play and it gave me DejaVu from when I first heard this song 3 years ago
I absolutely love this song and I think you guys did an excellent job, especially for the bass line which is sung impeccably. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
This was so good. I sing any part that is required of me but I much prefer bass. I wish the learning tracks weren't $60 so I could listen to it by itself
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you for this arrangement.
I wouldn't want to take the credit :). This is Renee Craig's arrangement. But thank you very much for the kind words!
1:01 that bass
This is gorgeous
wow nice bass
やっぱりここの音源が最高です
Whoa, is that a faint subharmonic A1 at the end?
yes. I think it was..
No
No because the bass is singing A2. The note below is a side effect of the harmony. Similar effects happen in the overtone series with notes that are tuned perfectly(justly)
PITG I rewatched and I agree
Rektangle I kinda did
Can't stop listening to this!!! Its amazing!
1:20 dammmn that low D (had to run to the piano to check)! impressive! I can just BARELY hit that note singing but it sounds like shit, that guy deserves a lot of credit. All of you guys do! Great job boys!!!!
i havent checked but are you sure its not a C#? ive been a bass in choir and just by ear it sounds to me like a C# i could be wrong though ima check and see there is a good chance his tone just makes it sound deeper and manly cuz its hit so well
nvm you were right it is a D xDD bruh is sounds even deeper cuz of his tone and resonance
Listen to 1:00 with a decent headset or earbuds. 1:20 aint got nothin on that.
i love it so much i like how they perfectly timed it.
1:00 umm. Well. IDK if you heard that but that was VERY low.
This beautiful and brilliant 'country roads' always attracts me.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy it :)
Bass only please would like to listen how it sounds when he‘s singing this song alone
I can't stop watching. That bass is so good

I just found the original Max Q version and, wow, you guys really nailed it.

Are we sure that the first 2 aren’t the same person?
It's so weird. I never liked this song growing up, but now here I am, feeling nostalgia for this song. Crazy where the time goes.
Ragegamingvideos anyone?
Yep, the raptors led me here!
I absolutely ADORE the song, and this version is exceptional!
Thank you so much! Happy to read that you enjoyed it :)
I like it, but I feel like it was taken a little bit too fast
Yeah, we get that a lot. I went with the version I knew best (Max Q), but I should have actually listened to the original first. Thanks for the feedback!
The point of the song is to be improvised and different. So what if it’s a little faster?

It's the most beautiful part of this arrangement. I agree :D
