Thanks for the efforts. I lived there for a number of years during the 1960's and 70's. Several of my relatives were born in the town and still live there or nearby. Just the other day I uncovered an old album from Handschusheim.
@@hazelframe Heidelberg during that time period was experiencing a regrowth from the war. Lots of NATO activities in the area until the bases were shut down. I know we brought food and some other items on weekend visits to our family relatives and friends. The trains were running on coal and steam power. Diesel engines were coming on line. I could exchange a one dollar bill for 4 DM. A bank account I had set up during that time period and left alone for 40 years gave me a huge dividend from the compound interest I earned and then paid me back in Euros. The bank employees were astonished that I still had my bank book all of these years later. The food in general is a bit different, unless you know where to go in the area to have it made fresh, rather than the more commercialized products sold today. Today Baden thrives in a newer and dynamic way. In the past it was in a rebuilding phase of growth. Oh man This makes me so sad, I was born here in 2001 and lived a few years before my dad decided to move back to syria after he Finished his PhD the city still amazing as I remember, hope to visit it again but Im currently stuck in syria

Closest city is Mannheim but i would rather suggest visiting Frankfurt, Mainz Koblenz...
