You are speaking about apathy, and that apathy is all around me, even my friends, which really saddens me. I wrote to our prime minister and shared the text but I think no-one sent it. I suggested commenting the news and podcasts on this utter disaster, because that gives the media a sense of what people are feeling. I don't know what to do. Immense frustration.

Ms. Albanese has such a clear view of the situation. I like the way she states that Gaza was already in a terribly poor state, and now with all of the bombing, it's hopelessly inhospitable for life.
I'd also like to know why more aren't screaming about what's going on in the West Bank!

Ghaza was considered a punitive posting by un personelle in the 50s. Where has all the money gone donated sin e 2005? Two hospitals at least, out of 35, were privately funded. The EU donated water pipes ; now used as rocket launchers. Israel provides at least 26million litres of water daily, 374 trucks of humanitarian aid and medical supplies daily (down to 250 trucks since 07/10). Go figure.

The West is complicit and in-bed with the perpetrators. There are 53 billionaires in Israel, and many more millionaires, and the West is sending money and troops when this country can very well fund it's own atrocities, but, in order to do so, need to deflect and share the blame. The Western attitude towards Palestinian lives is characterised by, let’s face it, racism. It’s taboo to say it, but it is important to call it out. Israel considers itself to be a western country and it has a colonial attitude towards Arabs and Palestinians.

A highly intelligent woman, articulate and brave, challenging the Israeli regime through her work at the UN, she set out in detail some of the context around the conflict and Israel's total disregard for any legal or moral accountability.
If a group is relentlessly barred and attacked for decades with out reason and that victimised group has a militant group that responds with an attack, that is classed as justified defence and not as a terror attack.

Yes a major coup, she's a heavy weight, and was quite damning about Israel's actions when responding to an Israeli representative recently at the UN. Astute, articulate and has a strong moral compass and deep empathy. She's absolutely right when she says even one dead child is too many and it's gut churning that so far 3500 innocent children have been murdered and the Israeli's are devoid of any empathy.

I simply wrote that I had heard elsewhere that seven of the hostages had been killed by the Israeli bombardment. I was hoping that someone could corroborate or refute that but instead my comment was removed. I have also heard of UN aid workers and red crescent ambulance workers also being killed by indiscriminate Israeli bombing. I don't know whether this is true or not but it doesn't sound surprising. I think there are people who would prefer a news blackout to hide misdeeds and collateral damage. This is only going to escalate in the immediate and longer term, and the horriffic truth will eventually emerge.

Are Civilians in Kibutzes armed with assault rifles shooting back still considered civilians? Is the distinction based on whether or not you wear a uniform? If Hamas is wearing a uniform and insignias when conducting operations, would they then be considered a legitimate resistance movement? I am confused as to what the law actually states. Just yesterday I saw Israelis handing out military grade weapons to settlers in the west bank. I have seen armed settlers shooting unarmed Palestinians in cold blood in the west bank where there is no Hamas.
She is saying that Hamas and Gaza is not a state or independant but this is not correct Gaza has been ruled by Hamas for 19 years. There is security around Gaza by the Israelis because of the risk of terror and the firing of rockets for at least the last 15 years
