Hey I enjoyed the vid! Just a little tip, google is smarter than you and actually gives an option to grey out done tasks: go to settings -> view options -> reduce brightness of past events. It greys out all past events tho, so you may want to keep your system if you find yourself lagging behind the schedule, but you shouldn't with proper time boxing. Hope that helped :)
Don't bother, just do what you feel like when you feel like Having a fixed schedule of how you're supposed to spend every minute of your free time is labouring and really pointless. Honestly, if you need a schedule I would personally just do something like this. If I'm supposed to study today, so say I'm gonna study 2 hours this day. When I sit down to study, I check what time it is, and then take a break whenever I feel like, and check the time. Do that until I reach 2 hours, and just stretch it if needed. No rigid time boxes, no nothing. Just do it whenever you feel like, but set a time minimum
I've been doing this for 2 yrs now its fuckin awesome. I don't have a fixed schedule, instead i keep a weekly list of tasks and assign tasks every morning in google calendar based on what i feel like.
That sounds exactly like what I need. Setting everything to a an always fixed time is mostly not possible for me. Do you have to enter the things every morning anew? Or could you go into some detail how you do it in the calendar? Thanks:)
@@Seb00lean well my workflow is a bit different than what soul showed here. I have 2 lists, a daily and a weekly task list. Every day I move some tasks from the weekly to the daily list. so let's say i wish to do unit 1 of electronics today. I'll add this to my daily list but also create a sublist for this task which in this case includes the individual topics i wish to cover. Then, I add all these subtasks to google calendar such that i set the name of the google calendar event to each subtask. in this case, that would be all the topics of unit 1 i wish to do. i manage all my lists in this open src app called obsidian. a lot of making daily and weekly lists is assisted by the plugins inside obsidian.
I’m making an app to do exactly this because nothing else has worked for me! Time boxing sucks for me. I just want a list of tasks and be able to choose when I have time. I got a notification from my app to have a glass of water and do some calf raises while I was typing this 😂 The app isn’t ready yet, but it’ll be free when i release it.
Gcal is great for ADHDers, it's minimalist so it doesn't overwhelm you, plus it integrates with other google products. I don't time block like shown here since it makes me stressed out, but I have been using it for years for it's reminders (now merged with tasks). For classes, doctor appointments, friend hangouts, dates when a new season of a beloved tv show comes out etc. I use the Event option, and for things like watering my plants and running errands I use tasks everyday. The task stays as a notification on my phone and I don't swipe it until I actually do the thing, so I never ever forget to do anything I need to do.
finally the first productivity video that didn't feel counter-productive. it felt like watching an episode from the office while gaining great information from a documentary, this should be a new genre btw, and you are great at it, keep it up man!
4:42 Also, you can automate it by checking the "Reduce the brightness of past events" option in the settings, then as It says all past event would be almost grayed out
Ok i watched it about a week ago Now i wake up at 5:30 , do coding , and study for college. I can't tell you how much this work but just make a routine and try to go by it at first you won't be able to follow it completely but just try it
Was interesting to revisit the calendar planning idea. I keep coming back to it (and failing) every now and then :D Maybe it's this time of the year again! Also nice video style.
Yep i agree it worked, making checklist and organising when to do it make you stay motivated, if you didn't make calendar you will procrastinate because you forgot task you do after task you focus doing right now. I experience it first hand because i just made checklist not calendar.

I was already using google calendar, but just for random stuff that pop-up so that I won't forget them. I now did as he said and started organizing stuff into subjects, and other than having the complete week laid out in front of me, I also managed to make a set time for stuff I need to do that always get pushed away so I'm pretty excited, I just hope I stick to it (especially the waking up on time part haha)
I have been doing this unintentionally for a long time now and yes it works. I stick to the time box but sometimes I don't get the amount of work I have to do and I feel unproductive even though I have done some part of my tasks.

I can understand such system can help temporarily. What you are proposing is "life-boxing" and I've done just to feel bad for not doing what I forced myself to do. I think people looking for a more permanent solution should look into habit tracking using a journal or just using a simple digital or in paper list. Start small and feel what works for you and what doesn't and adapt. Be water!
