My top tip is don’t put pressure on yourself to be besties with the people you live with, some people do become very close... and others don’t get on at all. I got so upset that I wasn’t close with mine as i thought uni was all about having a nice group of flatmates to be best friends with a hang out with 24/7 but in first year it’s likely not the case, at least not by the end of the year when everyone’s seen everyone’s bad habits etc 😂. But most people have a better experience with second year housing as you get to choose who you live with 🙌🏻
I went to uni six years ago this year and had the best time in first year! My flatmates were my best mates. I loved buying cute decor for my room. And I also did TV production at uni (at Gloucestershire)
Best thing I bought for uni was a pizza cutter and a pizza oven board thing! All my flat mates used it, and we started making our own pizza together every other week! Xx

I've just graduated from uni this summer and you're reminding me all over again of that first ikea shop, heads up make sure you have a washing basket or a strong bag because depending on your uni you'll have to carry a load of washing a long way to find a laundrette, and also if your in halls prepare for them to be boiling hot when you move in, you might want to keep the furry bedding until a bit later into winter
There's not many people on my course I've found that are actually 18! So it seems normal for people to be any age 😌 I get along with anyone pretty much so I don't mind hehe

I think my best buys got this year would be my rug, pillow and tv. So no more straining to watch a good film on my laptop or phone 😂😜 Have a good year! You also reminded me to buy alcohol 😂

Paigey Neverland yes!! You get deposit knocked off for any marks on walls. Halls aren’t as bad but when you rent a property... my god they will charge you for every tiny mark 😤. My house was spotless in second year and the agency took £600 off the deposit (out of £2,000) for marks on walls when no one stuck anything to them... just from light scuffing. Freshers be warned that deposit likely isn’t coming back in full 😖
Lex my halls was a £300 deposit and I just about got it back. My friend got charged £100 for a broken mattress which wasn’t broken as we had checked everything. The university when she called them and emailed them ignored her calls and she still is owed the money back. I’m just about to go into a house, so I’m scared now lol!
Paigey Neverland yeah you just need to accept there’s no way you’ll get it all back. They will find something to charge you for even if you’re perfect. It’s so annoying and frustrating but sadly everyone goes through it 😬
Totally started laughing at the vodka comment that it will last months, thinking back to my uni days when a bottle that size would disappear in one or two nights 😂😂😂 On the poster front I went to uni a long time ago now 🙈🙈 but in freshers week there were always poster stands at the freshers fairs & by where we went to register & they always had the old school film posters and classical prints if you like that kind of thing & find your walls are emptier than you thought 👍🏻

I had a white faux sheepskin rug for my uni room, worst decision of my life. I end up throwing it away when I moved out and it was only £10😂 the room is so small that it collected a lot of dust so I was hoovering it basically every week cause it looked so dirty
