You’re the only one that has taught me how to draft a pattern showing us the measurements in inches, and showing and explaining where those measurements are drawn exactly! This is the best tutorial I have ever watched and learn from!! ❤️👏🏼👍🏼✂️
I love the progression of the pattern drafting that you are teaching. It makes things very manageable and the garment ends up being a true wardrobe asset.
Ur videos r all well described and explained how to cutt how...to sew hope u make further designs this is the best sewing tutorial videos I have found...👍👍
Another great tutorial. Thank you so much. Your patterns are so much more user friendly than others. People can make it so complicated, that it becomes very off putting, and I just close the video, and never attempt to make the garment. I shall definitely make some of the garments that you have shown, for my daughter. Thank you again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've been watching this series of pattern making & just so you know I wasn't getting it the 1st two. A few hrs later now I understood how the measurements were cut down to draw it out. Thanks for the confidence to learn a new skill!
Thank you for this. Your whole channel is so inspiring. It's been years since I did any serious sewing, and now I can no longer sit up to sew for very long, so these simple garments are perfect for my abilities, as well as what I want to wear. I've been wanting so much to make some around the house things to wear, and felt kind of hopeless about it, but you have given me confidence.
It just keeps getting better and better. This is sooooo good and I just might try this. Got a little bit lost in a few places but I’ll just need to rewatch. Thank you Alisa. I’m learning a lot from you. 😘🇺🇸
Love your enthusiasm, knowledge, and calming voice. Thank you for keeping me company whilst I sew and I look forward to trying this or your t shirt soon! :D
Very nice design and easy drafting however the construction needs more detail so a beginner like me can easily follow and finished it. Thank you for the video. 👍🏻❤️🌹
Absolutely love this top , wish I could have seen how you did the bias tape around the neck and how it meets the front part . Thank you for wonderful videos 😍🌼🌸🌺🌷💖
you all prolly dont care but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Arturo Sincere Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I like the way you explain.you must be a good teacher.you really inspired me to learn sawing .i want to buy a tools now .There’s a membership I want to join soon .
Excellent! Thank you !!! I’m gonna use this pattern to replicate the white top with black trim from the Queen Gambit!!! Thank you so much for your great videos!!!
Cute. I would like to learn how to make the most simple summer dresses for my 8 year old granddaughter. I'm new at sewing...but due remember some thing from middle school.
this is great! i love the way you explain pattern drafting, so simple and easy to follow. thank you. i am confident i can make my own tops now. 🥰❤👍hope you can also prepare a tutorial on simple pattern for shorts 🙂
Ah, but I do have square shoulders not lovely sloping like you and most womem. Should I just keep the straight line and not slope at all? Most jewel necklines (is that what they are called?) Choke me , being too tight. Is there a square neckline adjustment?
I really enjoy the pattern drafting parts of your videos. That part is very detailed. If I may make a suggestion, as a beginner, I feel that is important to show the sewing parts of the shirt, including how to cut the bias tape, how to measure for the bias tape, how to attach it, etc. I always get lost after cutting the pattern. I have not attempted your patterns yet because I feel that I will not be able to complete the project. Thank you for your assistance.
Giuliana, hello there! Great suggestion and I am happy you are enjoying videos and furthering in sewing. Quick suggestion - feel free to look up on your own how to cut bias tape and how to do a certain technique. As a beginner it is important for you to learn the technique on its own, outside a project, so that you can apply it to any project in the future. I am currently working on a video series that covers techniques - to do exactly that, but of course you can always find other resources in the meantime to help you out.
I haven't tried this yet (plan to soon), but I have a question: what do you do if your bust measurement is larger than the shoulder? I don't know where or how to add the extra inches!
I don't have to buy tops any more only fabric. Will like u to give pattern in pajamas shorts and dressy slacks elastic waist or waistband pockets or nor. Thank u keep up d good work. Oh one thing. I make pants but when I sit down I have a problems with d back waist
I love this top. I have only made a couple of pieces in my life and nothing ever fit. I always made the size of the pattern not the size of me. lol Now I want to make my sister a top like this but I have a question. She is a grandmother and is full in her mid-section. I think it will be bigger than her bust and hips. How do you make an adjustment for that? Thank you in advance for your help.
What a great video! It's so cool to see how pattern elements relate, how to draft a pattern from measurements. I feel dumb asking but I didn't see that anyone has. It looks like the front is sewn closed at the points indicated. Does it... still come off over your head? 😅 It looks like it wouldn't have enough space. Thanks again for a great pattern!
It does :) he he, no worries, that's a good question - it actually comes off and on very easily I left plenty of space in the "slit" and because it is cotton poplin and the bias tape is cotton it stands up pretty stiff, so when I wear it the corners don't fall down, it that makes sense! I love this blouse and have worn it plenty this summer! :) hope this helps!
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Thanks, that makes perfect sense! It's a good point about helping the corners stand up to achieve the look you want. I was going to get lazy about the bias tape 😆 I'm excited to give it a try!
Hahahaha you cheating bloody bugger!!! I love it!! 😄😄😄 That pretend button sew down, of the front placket is a brilliant idea!! Well done!🏅🏅🏅🏅 Wouldn't be able to get it over my own whole body, unless it has alot more ease going on, but a great idea for looser tops! Perfect for my mum! And kids!! But your a shocker!! anything to get away from button holes. Me too, but I've finally got a new gorgeous sewing machine (eeeeeeeee) with automatic button holes and more importantly.... tension!!! Trying to sew with no tension for a few years is..... well testing, .......educating! Tension inducing. But now I can finally do button holes, by me NOT doing them!! My problem with the holes was opening them, the whole just.... shove, and basically blindly rip through the fabric with a seam ripper is just bloody delusional! My pa gave me one of his old 1cm chisels. You just line it up, hit it and perfect button hole! They sell those 'chisels' -button holers- for sewers- any new sewer -BUY ONE- and the hole stays intact better cause your not ripping it apart, you slice it like a hot knife through butter. Trust me, got rid of all my scares on button holes. Still wish pattern designers would allow you to sew most designs so you sew the button holes first, THEN attach them to the garment, not other way round!!!!!!!!
Maureen, welcome to the channel! Good question - I am not a huge skirt fan as of late - because running around with a toddler in a skirt, hmmm :) But I had some ideas about fun tulle skirts for fall with a sweater - so I might do a tutorial on a circle skirt and a pencil skirt!
Hello that looks really doable! Thank you so much for a really wonderful explanation! I just have to ask, if i make the sleeves longer, does that impact the mobility of the arms? Can I still raise it up high if i made a more tight fitting bodice and longer sleeves but kept the sleeve width?
Hello there, to answer your question - I have multiple videos regarding grown on sleeves, pattern drafting, sleeve mobility and etc. Just go on my channel and take a look at those videos and you will find your answers.
Hola,Descubri tu pagina y me encanta , soy novata en esto de la confeccion ,pero tratare de realizar estas bellas blusas,me encantaria si esta en tus posibilidades sea con subtitulos tus videos ,😢........mil gracias y saludos
PS. You should also soak all NON nylon zippers for cardigans and Jackets, as they tend to shrink too. Look at the zipper on a Hoodie you purchased you washed the garment and the zipper/rippled. ( because the manufacturer don’t wash them.
Thank you Alyssa, this was quite easy. Your shoulder measurements is just way off if you have a significant bust measurement. My shoulder ended up about double in order for the pattern to resemble yours.
Isha, great to hear that you made it work! If you watch the original video to witch I reference - there I mention that you shoulder measurement needs to be a couple of inches bigger than your bust measurement, to allow for the ease. Of course your shoulder measurement will be be bigger if you have a bigger bust, due to the kimono sleeve design. I needed to mention this in this video as well, but i see I didn't! I will make a note for next time! Thank you :)
Don’t forget to wash your your tape in hot water. I learned the hard way. After I laundered my blouse, the tape shrunk,. What a mess trying to get it back to normal. I know this info will be helpful. Of course you should preshrunk your fabric too.
