      Brian Holdsworth
      i was born into a catholic family, i became a "born again" Christian in my late teen
      here's how i am a strong "born again" believer ...
      when i was to be baptized or quickened by the Holy Spirit years ago, i wasn't really so keen and focus
      after i was baptized with seawater near the shore, nothing supernatural really happened (except that the sea breeze was so strong that i had to be transferred in 3 different spots (as i was about to be baptized), because the waves were a bit mightier than the usual)
      a week after my water baptism, it was followed up by the quickening of the Holy Spirit conducted by our resident pastor. dozens of us attended
      i wasn't really expecting anything to happen at all. just plainly curious
      when pastor nelson laid his hand on me in prayer, then touched my forehead. in a split second, an explosion of glorious, bright, pure white light enveloped me whole. it was calming bright light, not so glaring to my eyes. i could see & feel it even when my eyes were tightly closed. the exploding white light was all over me and it was expanding
      it's like everything on the expanding horizon was soothing pure white light
      then the heat on my forehead grew intense. it's like drilling / inscribing / writing something on my forehead that hurt a bit. when the heat entered on my forehead, it turned cooler (not cold) then slowly travelled down my face, throat, then to my chest or belly area, and, settled there
      i felt like my body was lifted up inches off the ground (though my feet were still touching the ground), then I uttered syllables i couldn't control & comprehend. it was so fast, i had not recalled even a single word! somehow, i could sense, it's something like praising the Lord & thanking Him (or so, i thought. i really don't know, i cannot fathom)
      the whole event lasted for 7 to 10 seconds or so, or maybe minutes (i couldn't really tell). but it seemed like it's "eternal"...
      overflowing peace, love, joy & happiness was what i felt that time, that i don't want it to end
      i remember tears run down my cheeks & asking myself why i cried when supposedly i was floating in extreme happiness
      i was conscious the whole time & can pinpoint the details, that's why i can still clearly describe it now like it has just happened a while ago, eventhough it happened years ago
      that indescribable experience really was beyond description. no lexicon of words can completely describe it
      imagine your definition of extreme happiness you experienced it here on earth (example: you won 100 million dollars, multiply that emotional happiness a million times over). that's exactly what i felt that very moment!
      i had not shared this experience to many, except a few (only recently), because i thought many had similar experience as mine
      then i searched testimonies on youtube; so far, i haven't had encountered similar or close to what i experienced
      with this, i have only one thing to say: that "every story, every parable, every epistle, every prophecy, every gospel of the Holy Scripture, the Word of God, the Bible -- is very much TRUE, without a shadow of a doubt"

      Friend, thank you for sharing. I am concerned for you. What you experienced, described, and called "conversion," cannot be found anywhere in the Scriptures. Inviting God to have a personal encounter with you is not how one gets converted according to Jesus. If you were drowning and you knew it, you would not invite someone to have a personal encounter with you. You would cry out for them to save you.
      If God revealed to you His perfect holiness and righteousness, and you recognized your sinful heart, deeds, guilt, and offense before God, and that you needed to be saved from your sins and God's wrath, then you would cry out to Jesus to save you, acknowledging that you need His death on the cross and resurrection as atonement for your sins. You would not be inviting God to have an encounter with you. If you were just saved from something horrific and terrible, you would be able to articulate what you were saved from. This is a false conversion friend with a lot of emotions and words, but no Gospel that the apostle Paul preached in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Like Jesus said, you must be born again. I urge you to repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not based your hope on the experience and emotions that don't align with God's Word.
      Much love. If you would like to discuss more, please message me.

      It’s true. I was in the process of brainwashing my own kids until a couple of years ago. And when whole congregations of people seem to agree with your tall tales, then they believe it. It’s never a free choice from the child’s point of view.
      I have not told my kids that my wife and I are both atheist now. They still go to church when they feel like it because they have friends there and they have fun as altar attendants.
      But I am teaching them philosophy (including epistemology) and history and they are starting to ask very important questions about Christianity that I know have no good answer in Christianity. As soon as they know that it’s ok to say they don’t believe, I am pretty sure they will drop Christianity just like they dropped belief in Santa Claus.

      1. According to EGW and the SDA CULT, what must Sunday keeping Christians and everyone else, DO in the end times to avoid getting the "Sunday laws" Mark of the Beast and to be accepted by God and saved, and become part of the end time "remnant Church" and have the right to enter the gates of heaven?
      2. If I refuse to become a member of the SDA CULT and reject Ellen G White, will that mean I will never be accepted by God and never become part of the end time saved "Remnant Church"? Yes or No?
      3. If I continue to sin, in other words, continue being sinner, which means I continue to break God's Law, 1 John 3:4, will I be rejected by God, get the Mark of the Beast, be lost and miss out on entering through the gates of heaven? Yes or No?

The extensive evidence is called the 'early church fathers'. It is one of the major reasons for Protestant clergy to convert to Catholicism. My brother in Christ most of us on this thread are converts or reverts to Catholicism. Like Brian in this video. The reason being is Protestants as you have not being able to provide any convincing arguments. Watch the video below if your faith is stronger than your pride and may God have mercy on your soul.

Your story of You meeting Mary reminds me of the struggle between Ivan and Alyosha in the Brothers Karamazov. Ivan levels him with argument after argument laser tight with convincing points and Alyosha simply can’t argue why he has faith. Ultimately his acts of love and simply living like Christ is what allows him to “triumph” over Ivan.

My knees buckled and I fell backward into a chair, weak as a newborn baby and overcome with joy. For three days I hardly needed to sleep or eat; all I wanted to do was serve others so that I could share in some small way all the love God had stored up in me. I knew at that moment that not only was God real, but that heaven was living in the bliss of His love for eternity and sharing it with others.

      @Steve You clearly understand nothing about the Catholic Church, not her history or her deep theological teachings. Catholicism is the church Jesus founded. He gave her His authority. He didn't give it to a collection of books that had not yet been written. That's why the Church follows both scripture and tradition, because during the many decades before the New Testament was written and compiled, the Church was flourishing according to the teachings of the Apostles and the early Fathers (not the Bible). That's why Paul says, "So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter." 2 Thessalonians 2:15. The Catholic Church isn't a cult; it's the one true way to heaven established by Christ.

    Dear Brian, you and I were so much alike growing up. I too was cynical, judgmental, and was so unimpressed by the adults in my life. In my family, there was a lot of unhappiness and no real authentic example of love, purity, truth, and beauty- all things my cynical little self actually was so hungry for and naturally had, but couldn’t find in the people that raised me. I just knew that joy love and respect is supposed to be shared in the home, even as a small child I just saw right through the adults who didn’t value me in this way because even then I told myself I knew better and vowed to be a better human, mother, friend when I became an adult. I guess you could call us strong willed children, not realizing we were actually in the front lines of a battle FOR the truth, willing to slaughter anyone or anything that claimed to be so-called love, beauty, truth. But because of my upbringing, I became untrusting of people. I did eventually grow out of this.
    I’m not saying all Protestant homes have poor parental figures. Plenty of homes from various backgrounds have less than stellar parents. But it’s the dysfunctional home that propels a strong willed child to seek for something much greater, rather than default and become like the people that raised them. I was actually raised Catholic, so you’d think I’d grow weary of the church and go full force into a nondenominational church. I was interested, but never interested enough. I made some friends with some women who had similar natural health interests as me, and they are all remarkable catholic women. Coming back to the church was a slow year process of grasping what Catholicism actually stood for. It became a hunger to learn from the radio, books, Facebook groups, videos and not about quotes and music that appealed to my feelings only to be reliant on these good feelings in order to feel sustained. What solidified my reversion back to the church was learning about the saints.... and when I watched an Italian film about St Phillip Neri and how much he LOVED poor destitute children that no one cared about, I sobbed for hours in complete joy and surrender to such a rich and beautiful faith, filled with saints that LOVED people and their salvation far more than the people I thought I admired. They did it for no personal money, no desire for acclaim, no nothing often in pain fear or suffering completely filled with pure love for God and not of themselves . Just so incredibly lovesick for Jesus, the saints were not like us. Joel Olsteen or the 700 club doesn’t hold a candle. No one understood more than the saints, that God is the only God deserving of all credit for the good the saints did. The last thing these saints did was take ANY of God’s glory as their own! Who’s more guilty of encouraging lay people to commit idolatry? A pastor with a million dollar home and a private jet? Or a saint who sacrificed her life because she would not deny God?
    This is what I was missing so deeply in my own childhood, and my criticism was because I was grieving over the inner-child who didn’t have such an example of beauty, and was desperate to come out. I’m now at home and at such peace within such a solid and meaty faith. I’ll never go hungry because Catholicism teaches me how to fish. And the beauty of a strong willed child, is that we insist on learning how to do it ourselves and not having anyone ever do it for us.

    Hey Brian, thank you so much for sharing your story with us! I can't wait to hear more! It's crazy how I can relate to you, as far as the relationship with an incredible Christian that was very devout in their faith being somewhat of a real introduction into what it means to be faithful. It's just that for me I was born and raised Catholic and I myself didn't really know much about my faith.
    It wasn't until I really started going to a Bible study with this guy that all these questions arised and I was much more into it.
    Having this Catholic mindset didn't fit very well with my Bible study group and neither with the guy I was in a relationship with. Bible study quickly turned into who can convert the Catholic first.
    Feeling the tension, I just abandon the group with all these questions and gaps in my faith. I remember losing hope and having an atheistic mindset. It was the most hideous, ugliest and emptiest feeling I ever had in my body.
    I remember sitting in my room in tears not only because I am not in a relationship anymore but more importantly thinking "Perhaps the God of the universe isn't the God of the universe". I let out a cry to the Lord asking him one last time if he was real. Just like you a sense of Peace washed over me and I knew things had to change.
    Because I had heard so many negative things against the Catholic church I decided I wouldn't go there so I turned to what you called the buffet of Christian denominations.
    Since you ended your story there I guess I'll end mine too. I'm sorry for writing such a long comment, it's supposed to be a comment not a story haha. I just thought it was pretty cool how we had some similarities. This is all pretty recent with me. I turned 21 a couple months ago and I'm still learning alot. I really love your videos!!

      Nancy,
      It's understandable to be where you are if you have no foundation to rely on, in order to have answers you seek.
      Be at peace, if you read "Dark Night of the Soul" by St. John of the Cross, you'll find similarities with your journey; but you will also have reasons and happy outcomes.
      God is with you even in your desolation as you walk in the darkness towards him.
      As a last comment, I will leave you with this thought:
      Since God is One, there can only be One Truth and therefore only One Church as you see in Jesus words to Peter, upon whom He built His Church (singular).
      In conclusion,

    Father Michael Barone, (Don Michele Barone) the great gifted Mystic Priest from Naples, Italy gave a Talk in Dublin, Ireland recently. He has the Charisma of Exorcism, Reading Hearts and can tell if souls are not baptized because he says that they have No Light in their eyes - if not baptized. Amazing Priest!
    Father Barone said Children are a great blessing on your House. He said the evil one tries in every way to invite the Children and Youth of today to offend the Lord. He said Our Lady asks that we pray for families because the family is under attack from the evil one who delights in the separation of family and the damage it does to children.
    He said that in Exorcisms the demons have said that we are creating our families - Man and Man, Woman and Woman. The devil is happy when families are destroyed and torn apart. He said Europe (EU) and its Laws are Blaspheming against God.
    He referred to Fatima and mentioned that from 1917 for 100 years Satan would have dominion. He repeated the need for prayer within and for the family. He said that Our Lady stated in Medjugorje that She will finish in Medjugorie what she started in Fatima.
    Fr Barone, then referred to The Most Holy Rosary - he said it is a powerful Armour of God. He said the demons have screamed at him during exorcism that the Rosary when prayed is bashing our heads with a hammer. He said Our Lady of Medjugorje requested 7 Our Fathers 7 Hail Marys and 7 Glory be - to be prayed every day and She would send Special Blessings from Her Heart and will sustain us in this life. Father emphasized again how the Devil had told him in an Exorcism, that the Rosary is a hammer, bashing him on the head.
    He said Our Lady wants us to Open the Bible every day and read 2 or 3 lines and to Fast on Wednesday and Friday on Bread and Water. He told us that Our lady said we will receive great graces when we Fast but also we need these graces so much .
    He told us that Our Lady had taken two of the Medjugorje seers Vicka (Vishka) and Jakov to Heaven, Purgatory and Hell. In Heaven they saw people dressed in Grey, some in Yellow and some in Red - great happiness and continual worship of God by Angels and the Saints (people) there, Purgatory was a great big place full of Mist and Souls longing for God - WAITING for our Prayers to Help THEM. Hell was a huge Place of Fire with screaming half human, half animal beings. He told us that Our Lady said these souls wanted to be here.
    He spoke about the need for us to wear on our person Holy Medals, Crucifixes, Scapulars, Rosaries etc. To wear such Religious Sacramentals is so important because the Devil knows and he sees us wearing them - he will not dare approach us.
    Father spoke about the Spiritual Benefits of Holy Water, Blessed Salt and Blessed Oil. He said we should bless every room in our house every week with Holy Water and make the Sign of the Cross in every room. He told us, if we put a drop of Holy Water into another Container of Water that this Water will become Holy Water. This Blessing of Houses will help people who are drinking too much or taking drugs. He said that Drugs and Drink are Satan’s Chosen Food which drives people into madness and serious sin including crimes. Another Spiritual Benefit of Blessing your House, is that it can prevent sufferings in your family and again it keeps the spirit of evil away.
    He said the demons will do anything to keep you away from God and the Holy Mass. The Holy Mass will take away all temptations.
    Father said that he met recently with Pope Francis. The Pope told him we are living in the End Times and this is the reign of Satan. The Pope asked us to pray for Mercy. He said that we must try to be faithful to God and Pray for the Pope. He said that in August 2014, Our Lady called the Pope “Her Most Beloved Pope”. He added, that the 7th secret of Medjugorje has been reduced in impact because God has heard peoples’ prayers
    Father said that we should make the Sign of the Cross 3 times every day over any parts of our person that is sick, like Cancer Tumors etc. He told us that Food we buy could be contaminated by evil which can cause cancer. He said we should use Blessed Oil and Salt on our Food. ( Forward only if inspired so many more will be enlightened by these graces)

    I just recently been baptized into the catholic church. Growing up I had no religion nor did my family attend any church. But I always conscious of God as far as I can remember. Talking to God questioning God at an early age. During my teens I really started searching for God. Attending a bible class during lunch at school. But in my early early 20s I became atheist. I just didn't believe in the stories of the bible. At that time it seemed man made not understanding that maybe man based human affairs off of the scriptures.
    Anyways mid 20s I started studying buddhism. But I came to find the purpose or the goal of annihilation was absurd. Finally now in late 20s I came back to christianity. First attended a protestant church. I enjoyed the sermons but it seemed to lack something. I started reading books on christianity, researching online and it seemed to me that either the catholic faith or the orthodox faith were the earliest forms of christianity that trace back to the apostles.

    Thanks for sharing this. I was struck by how similar our journeys have been. I’ve not made it back into the fold of Christianity yet, but I had a similar skepticism/cynicism about the faith of adults I knew as an adolescent and had that broken down by experiences of authentic, loving, and honest Christians (as well as a few years studying philosophy), which led me to reconsider theism more objectively and ultimately to embrace it. Currently exploring Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and various Protestant sects, as alternatives to a merely philosophical theism.

      I was catholic until age 24. I am an atheist from reading The Bible, finding it absurd and incoherent, finding 0 good compelling answers from Catholic or other Christian apologists to defend it, no good answers on the Problem of Divine Hiddenness or The Problem of Evil, no rational justification for Hell, and because the Bible is full of ludicrous childish puerile teachings and stories such as the Noah myth, all the world being descended from just one lone couple, The Nile turning into blood, witches and wizards being depicted as real, etc. I hope you stick with atheism and the great peace and joy it brings.

    Brian Holdsworth, I'm agnostic. I don't believe in the existence, nor do I deny the existence of God. I've been considering becoming a Catholic, as I see people who are Catholic around me have that same sense of peace that I want to have. I've got no idea where to start, and I would like to know what you think I should do. I want to be able to commit to a faith like this, so I have something to believe in and motivate me, but I also don't know if it is the right choice for myself. Any advice you can give? I've seen both of your videos, but I'd like to know more...

    • @BrianHoldsworth
      @BrianHoldsworth  6 лет назад +6

      It depends on a lot of factors that will be specific to you and your life. If you've determined that having peace is an undeniably good thing and you see people who are Catholic experiencing this peace and then reflecting it to the world, that's certainly evidence that whatever they're doing is good and right. But this could be true of many religions or philosophies. In the case of Catholicism, it is fundamentally a theistic belief. You cannot do or be Catholic without first believing in God. Such a belief can arrive in many different ways but if you are truly searching for him, you will find him. That's where I'd start. Begin searching for him in the way you need to do it. It could be intellectual, spiritual, experiential, etc. For me, I decided to pray to him. If he wasn't there, all it cost me was an insignificant amount of time that I would have spent doing something trivial and a slight sense of feeling silly. If he is there and you encounter him through that experience, then your life changes from something that is confusing, disjointed, meaningless, and dull, into something , focused, connected, meaningful, and radiant. In other words, you win! Start by asking him if he's there and if he can reveal himself to you or guide you to what is true. I'll pray for you as well! Please pray for me. :)

    I became Catholic when God smacked me upside the head with a 2X4 and introduced me to the demon which had been plaguing me all my life. After that, there was no reason to question the Church nor the Rosary. And it became a matter of pathetic simplicity to defend the Church which defined the Bible and which has the bones of St. Peter directly below the high altar of St. Peter's basilica in the catacombs running below. Truly, the rock upon which Christ built His Church (singular).

      sologuitar7, satan divided and conquered the PROTESTing sects led by the malice of men like Luther, Henry VIII, Calvin, Wesley, Knox, etc., et al. Over 59,000 different sects and millions more believing they and they alone have the Truth because they read the Bible. This innate promise of becoming Pope and Magisterium was the essence of Luther's heresy and the self same sin of satan which cast him out of Heaven, i.e. PRIDE.

    • @AveChristusRex
      @AveChristusRex 7 лет назад +1

      +sologuitar7 Why do you have a picture of Lutherasyour profile picture? You know he was a foul mouth, a blasphemer etc? Surely you don't believe he was God's 'saint' for 'reforming' anything..

    • @AveChristusRex
      @AveChristusRex 7 лет назад +3

      +sologuitar7 If the Bible was never read in the vernacular, how wasn't Luther promoting something novel and clearly never intended for the Church? It was written in Greek-the vernacular of a tiny portion of the early Church. You're presupposing the Bible was meant to be in the hands of every believer, instead of at the local Church, read by the priest to the people.
      The only reason you'd want a Biblein everyone's hands is if you wanted to differ from the orthodox Christian faith as taught by the Church; and to teach the Church could err in teaching you the Faith is to say the gates of Hell prevailed against it. Or even sillier, that God switched the Church invisibly into the hands of Protestants in the 1500s.
      You're conspiracy assumes that Christ's Church will be decieving or teaching us error. Which is a false assumption.
      "The catholic church may even have begun as a true church following after God, but it is so clear that corruption came into the church, and what it is today is a reflection of that."
      Even if this were the case, God isn't going to use a foul man like Luther (have read his writings??) to be his apostle in bringing the Church 'back' to some 'original pure Christianity.'
      The Protestant claim that Catholics 'corrupted' Christianity is as weighty as the Muslim or Mormon claim to their 'pure, true Jesus' which people have 'corrupted.'
      Whether something is 'Biblical' is not for the lay person to decide. Look where that got Arius (and he almost won out!!!) Christ or nowhere in Scripture tells us Scripture is to be read by the individual (there are a LOT of individuals in the Church, every one with a slightly different interpretation).
      Jesus said 'take it to the Church.' Presupposing an authoritative body which can (next verse) 'bind and loose' with heavenly authority in such issues.
      Not your local 'church' derived from a private interpretation of Scripture.
      Luther said if you don't accept his interpretation of Scripture you are damned, because it isn't his but God's.
      I'm proposing you would have ot have a cult-like mentality to accept Luther's authoritative word that his is the only infallible interpretation of Scripture. Isn't that obvious?
      The Bible doesn't say Martin Luther is the 'pillar and foundation of truth' but 'the Church of the living God.' So the Church-wherever she is-must be had recourse to in matters of Faith, since it was given her to judge such matters.
      When every man reading 'just what the Bible says' (different from person to person, asa nyone honest admits) is 'the church' then Scripture's giving the Church this authority to decide who belongs in the Church meaningless. You can't go to 'the Church' if it's anywhere your interpretation of Scripture leads you. Insisting like Luther that your interpretation just isn't like other people's and that it is infallible, is also meaningless.
      I challenge you to show a time when the Church WAS Protestant. Show me when the ENTIRE catholic church apostatized from whatever it is you are saying they did.
      What you are presenting to us is a conspiracy-Protestants appear nowhere in history cuz reasons. Instead of the obvious: every single Christian bishop, priest, lay person was Catholic before Luther split from the only Church Christ founded, which necessarily led to his interpretation winning out over the prenneial one of the Church, and so it spread like wildfire (because it taught easybelievism, and was easier to accept, rather than that old 'hard to keep' Catholic Faith).
      Please recognize how suspicious and specious 'thewhole Church got it wrong fromthe beginning and I have it right now, one thousand five hundred years after Christ founded His Church' sounds. Especially with no evidence to show it's the case whatsoever.

    • @AveChristusRex
      @AveChristusRex 7 лет назад +3

      Why are we ignoring that Luther invented a new relgiion based on his private interpretation of Scripture? No one was ever Protestant. That's why it's a novel religion.
      You can't say like the Muslims 'the real Jesus was corrupted by the Church.' Then Jesus can be anyone you want Him to be. Whereas it's only because cults and sects are not the true Church that they need to make the Churhc look bad. They'll even cite the fact that sinners, men, exist in the Church, therefore the Church is false. Instead of 'did Christ found this Church of which the entire population are mere men, sinners'?
      I guess I dont' get why your first thought is 'Luther'. Luther introduces novelties and Protestantism follow him. That's the facts.
      The early Church was Catholic. Not Protestant.

      Great so the books of Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Macabees, Sirac, Wisdom and Baruc are canonical too right? The early Church has always accepted them as canonical

      @Asaph Vapor false, you can read the Church Fathers quoting from those books since the early centuries. All Christians assented to the authority of those books already by the years 300s. And no one ever until Martin Luther decided to delete those books from the already accepted and recognized by all canon of scripture.
      And even the protestant old testament is not only in Hebrew, parts of Daniel and Ezra are written in aramaic.

    The Papacy
    "And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter . . ." (Matt. 10:1-2).
    "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven’" (Matt. 16:18-19).
    "‘Simon, Simon, behold Satan has demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren’" (Luke 22:31-32).
    "He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, ‘So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas’ (which means Peter)" (John 1:42).
    "When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ He said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’ A second time he said to him, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ He said to him, ‘Tend my sheep.’ He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ And he said to him, ‘Lord, you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep’" (John 21:15-17).
    Purgatory
    "For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin" (2 Macc. 12:44-45).
    "Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny" (Matt. 5:25-26).
    "Each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire" (1 Cor. 3:13-15).
    "For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit; in which he went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly did not obey . . ." (1 Peter 3:18-20).
    "But nothing unclean shall enter it [heaven] . . ." (Rev. 21:27).
    Honor Due to the Virgin Mary
    "And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, ‘Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?’" (Luke 1:41-43).
    "And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name’" (Luke 1:46-49).
    "If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together" (1 Cor. 12:26).
    Praying to the Saints
    "‘And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, "I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob"? He is not God of the dead, but of the living . . .’" (Mark 12:26-27)
    "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely . . ." (Heb. 12:1).
    "And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints" (Rev. 5:8).

      seng cheenh Here’s what you need to understand. The term “Saints” in the Bible is referring to the ones who follow the way aka Christians. It is not referring to the catholic saints or those whom you deemed as saints. Those who follow Christ and are purified by his blood are saints. The blameless ones. The ones who are beckoned by their father in heaven.

      Here:
      2 Maccabees 15:12-16: "What he saw was this: Onias, who had been high priest, a noble and good man, of modest bearing and gentle manner, one who spoke fittingly and had been trained from childhood in all that belongs to excellence, was praying with outstretched hands for the whole body of the Jews. Then in the same fashion another appeared, distinguished by his gray hair and dignity, and of marvelous majesty and authority. And Onias spoke, saying, “This is a man who loves the family of Israel and prays much for the people and the holy city-Jeremiah, the prophet of God.” Jeremiah stretched out his right hand and gave to Judas a golden sword, and as he gave it he addressed him thus: “Take this holy sword, a gift from God, with which you will strike down your adversaries.”"

That He took my place on the cross. i am justified by His perfect adherence to the Law. Only He could fulfill it. He did this in obedience to The Holy Father In Heaven & assumed our juat punishment by becoming a perfect sin sacrifice for all mankind...that by His mercy & grace we accept Him for who He Is, Holy & Righteous & our need for The Holy Saviour.

    Protestantism is false & it does not come from Jesus. Rather, it is a revolt against him. Protestantism decieves by quoting ONLY Scriptures which seem to back their agenda, but everything they attack can be found in the bible: Mary, Saints, confession, penance, good works, the Eucharist etc etc

      I'm not sure what protestants you've talked to, but we don't attack any of those things.
      My congregation does Eucharist (we call it communion) every Sunday, does structured good works and individual good works, honors the saints of the Bible and all those saints who we don't know by name. We honor Mary even if she doesn't come up as often for us, and we practice confession. I can't say we do "penance" as you understand it, but I'll also say that penance as Catholics understand it is extra scriptural. I won't say it's wrong, just that it shouldn't be considered mandatory.

      Please provide Bible verses which support the following Catholic doctrines:
      - Purgatory;
      - The perpetual virginity of Mary;
      - Praying to dead humans;
      - The Bishop of Rome is the head of the church;
      - The celibacy of priests;
      - Burning people at the stake who disagree with the church;
      - Preventing people from having the Bible in their own language;
      - The infallible authority of Papal bulls;
      ---> Since Papal Bulls are by definition infallible - explain the following:
      - Jews are forbidden to eat with Christians (in Pope Innocent's Papal bull of 1205);
      - Jews must wear clothing identifying them as Jews (in Pope Honorious's Papal bull of 1215);
      - The Inquisition - the torture and execution of unbelievers (in Pope Gregory's Papal bull of 1233);
      - Declaration that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church (in Pope Bonifice's Papal bull of 1302);
      - The sale of indulgences (paying money for the permission to and remission of sin) - (in Pope Clement's Papal bull of 1343);
      - Order to all Christians to restore all fugitives of the Spanish Inquisition so their torture can continue - (in Pope Sixtus's Papal bull of 1481);
      - Church services can only be in Latin - (in the papal bull decreed by Pope St. Pius V in 1570).
      That's a very very small/partial list of official Catholic doctrine which I suspect you will not find a shred of evidence for in Scripture. There are a million others of course.

    • @VVeremoose
      @VVeremoose 5 лет назад

      @@deancamp4914 I'm not a Catholic and have already refuted OP, but the Catholic answer to this is that Christ gave authority to His apostles to continue evolving the commands as circumstances and times changed. (What you bind on Earth shall be bound in Heaven and what you loose on Earth shall be loosed in Heaven)
      So those things don't have to be scriptural because Christ's authority remains a "living document", if you will, in the persons of the Church leaders.
      Now as Protestants, we know that such authority exists only within the bounds of scripture - just as a messenger may not change the message with which he is entrusted. So we look back to the source because we realize that those who came before us changed the message.

      Where do you get the idea that we can't pray to persons that are not God? Prayer means to ask. Do you believe that you cannot petition another person, other than God? Yes, his Church is spiritual, but it's also visible and incarnate. The Bible is very clear about that.

The Scriptures say the dead are dead until judgment, and Jesus says HE is the only Mediator. We shall know them by their fruits. Please only pray to HIM. I gratefully receive your prayers! Can you explain a bit more? If the dead are dead until judgement, how do we make sense of Moses and Elijah interacting with Jesus during the transfiguration? Also, what about Revelation 5:8 in which the saints in Heaven bring the prayers of the faithful before God? How did they receive those prayers if we aren't allowed to pray to them? What about the fact that Jesus preaches to imprisoned spirits? What about the promise to the thief on the cross?

    • @slowjoy9

      Brian, Jesus is God. The dead are not in our time space. Pray FOR the dead, Not TO them. HE is the WAY.

    • @BrianHoldsworth
      @BrianHoldsworth  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks, but again, that doesn't address the verses that I pointed out. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about praying to the dead, I'm talking about those who are alive in Christ. Saints and angels are not dead. The tradition of praying with and to saints and angels goes back to the very earliest practices of Christianity. If they are members of the body of Christ, and he is the head, then praying to and with them IS praying to Jesus.

    Your wife was right, it is better if you add some personalization. I am a cradle Catholic and my father was more lenient with about faith than my bother and sister. He knew I had questions. In the end I still became a Catholic. Stories of people that have converted Catholicism inspire me and strengthen my faith. As a Catholic you know we pray for each other and we ask for our brother and sisters to pray for us. I am happy to know you're in the Church. And I think God has chosen this time, because the Church is going through a major trial. I pray that we are all made stronger by it. God Bless you and your family. Take care.

    I was raised Catholic and lived most of my life as a practicing Catholic. It has the best music, the best churches, the best art, the best scholars and the longest history. Nothing will beat getting married in a high RC church with a Mozart sung mass. It was beautiful and felt magical.
    But it’s all based on a made up story about a god that doesn’t exist. Sorry.
    We still have the art, the music and the architecture. But it’s just irrational to believe in a story without good evidence - indeed with huge evidence to falsify it - especially such an extremely unlikely and grand story.
    Many people feel there is something missing from life because they have been raised in a materialist and superficial culture. I totally get that.
    I believe that the answer is a proper engagement with wonders of nature and the scientific study of it, the beauty and story of the arts and a commitment to the betterment of the poor and pursuit of a liberal, just and free society in general. Religion is a false substitute for and a distraction from true pursuit of these things. At best it’s a dead end. At worst it’s a grotesque corruption of our nature.

    • @andrefouche9682
      @andrefouche9682 3 года назад

      I here what you say and everybody has an opinion, I am a Chemist and also love science however the liberal society as we understand it is a very new construct especially if you take into consideration that the framework of the Christian structures on which it was build was recently dismantled, I would say from the 1960s onward, and what I see unfolding is definitely not going to be the just society atheists hope for. Many people do not understand that at the heart of most of the movements of what happens in societies are not idealistic but all about power and money and with all its faults the Catholic Church was a counter balance of this hunger for power and money. Yes I get the fact that there were corrupt popes and cardinals and the church many times also abused it's power yet this pandemic is already showing the first signs of the immense totalitarian power that will be
      exercised in the future.
      Very few people even think when the main stream media and powerful actors in society are opposing religion vehemently and getting others to do it as well it might not be that they truly want a better society for all but maybe they just want all the power for themselves and maybe they want society back to serfdom.
      Think about it when the churches started hospitals even the poorest of the poor wouldn't be sent away, the churches started schools and played a huge roll in making western society literate, churches ran soup kitchens during times of economic hardships and formed a core of the community in almost every town and village. So even an objective atheist should admit that the church played a good roll in general despite it's mistakes so why the huge anti Christian push today.
      Even Dawkins admitted om an interview he is at times scared of what may replace Christianity, well I think we are starting to see what may be coming. A cancel culture that are too scared to speak there minds, a society that are just capitulating when they are told to stay home and destroy their businesses despite all scientific evidence showing it will have no effect. A society that run on raw emotions on social media platforms that can tell established newspapers to remove articles they don't like. No my friend science gives us great tech but I am afraid not a better society.

    My concerns about Catholic doctrines and teaching have to do specifically with the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the bodily assumption of Mary into heaven, the Catholic belief that Christ is really re-crucified each time the Holy Eucharist is celebrated, the transubstantiation of the Elements into the actual flesh and blood of Christ, salvation through works, veneration (worship) of saints and asking Mary and the saints to intercede on our behalf with the Father and Papal infallibility. None of this is necessary according to Scripture but the Church teaches that they are the only entity with the ability and authority to interpret Scripture.
    I am Anglican and our liturgy is VERY similar to the Catholic Mass but we believe in salvation through faith and the grace of Christ. Not through a series of doctrines prescribed by men. I can't do anything to make myself "good enough" to earn my salvation but Christ's (one time) sacrifice on the cross has already done that for me. All I have to do is accept that free gift and ask Him to make me into the person he wants me to be.

    If this video creates much dissent, shall we take it on truth and genuine conversion, or take it on the violent looking to storm the kingdom of god? We are in a time of many false prophets, and the Kingdom of God will be purified soon. Take heart, brother, for there is no need to rationalize your conversion story. You either accept Christ as your savior and the living God or you don't. No need to prove it in words, but in acts and scripture that backs up those acts. Thank you for being a witness. Now let us all help you to be genuine in your journey. I have been both catholic and protestant, and finally coming back to the one holy apostolic church this year to be confirmed. I know your struggle has been real, but again - take heart!!! Protestants can be the gatekeepers to the true faith, and it is faith that makes us act on the word of God. Do not let the "purgatorians" fool you, we are all sanctified by the Holy Spirit by living the word of God. Likened to divorce, when we hold unforgiveness in our hearts for a long time, it becomes hardened to the truth.
