Hi There, so sorry for the late reply and i hope that everything is working out well for you. Every medical school has different requirements for their foundation years. My bets advice would be to contact the ones you are interested in and explain your situation for some clarity :)
btw we did the same a levels !! people get so annoyed when they find out I chose literature (although it’s completely different from high school) but stillll!
I don't believe so! Most foundation medicine courses don't even require BMAT, only UCAT! But, from what I know, doing the BMAT will have no effect on requirements :)
Do only few student who take a foundation entry course for medicine get to transition into the 5 year medical course? ( is foundation year competitive)
Hi this video was very insightful, Im currently in year 12 and have a few questions as Im interested in this course. Do you have to complete the foundation year successfully (like pass the exams) to be moved on to the 5 year course? Would you say it's easy/medium difficulty to complete it or is it quite hard? If you fail the foundation year exam do you get any resits? Do you have to apply via UCAS afterwards and redo the UCAT to progress to the 5 year course or do they automatically move you up? And finally do you think Im eligible to apply if Im ABB predicted or is that too high ( I meet most of the other requirements) Thanks for your time ☺️
So sorry for the delay! Yes you go straight into it upon completion. The course itself is medium difficulty (think a level biology & chemistry with a bit more jazz)
If you fail you can do resists! And for your grades I think you can get it if you satisfy the other entry requirements but for your grades I believe you can go straight in to the 5 year course :) best of luck!
just wondering I've applied for the same course in Nottingham with similar UCAT and GCSEs as yourself but I've applied through UCAS. How will I let them know about being in a deprived area and a state school? or do they know themselves. And if I haven't taken the Nottingham potential do I still stand a chance of getting in?
If I don’t have any learning background on chemistry, I have just studied economics, biology, mathematics in high school. Can I apply chemistry subject for the foundation course?
Thanks for so much information...💯 I came from Pakistan and here I'm doing BTEC level 2 with English and Maths GCSE. Shall I progress onto A-levels or BTEC level 3. My college can offer me A-levels. I think A-levels are best because I want to get into medicine and good unis don't accept btec level 3 science. The other thing is that I don't have any GCSEs except my maths and English.... will this effect my uni admission? Alevels allows me to go to many carers but btec limits me
Hi, I would like to ask a question. So regarding the enrty requirements at the foundation course, can they accept you if perhaps you acquired a BTEC in health and social care in college/sixth form, or do they want you to have gained previously an A level to acces this HE?
Hii, I’m so confused for a level because for my 3rd option I want to do level 3 criminology along with chem n bio do u think universities will accept criminology as a third choice? bc i rlly don’t want to do maths
@@medicallyamber if the case was your school not allowing anyone to do triple don’t certain universities have exceptions for their grade boundaries for people from certain schools. Especially since you would have been disadvantaged compared to other candidates in terms of ability to meet criteria

Can I do medicine with a foundation of I choose BTEC applied science, criminology or health and social and psychology.
Best to get in contact with the univeristy of your choice to find out!
I have applied to same course i just wanted to know how many offers did you get? Thanks
I got 3 offers in the end! 2 for medicine and 1 for nursing as a backup option :)
when you go onto doing 5 year standard program are you going to be with same people with whom you started foundation program or you are going to meet new people ?
I’ll be with the same people from my course and new people entering the 5 year course!
What was you predicted grades when you applied ?
They were BBC I believe or BBB (my memory is quite terrible sorry ahaha)
Thankyou !@@medicallyamber
So after the first foundation year do you go into normal 5 year medicine automatically or??
Yes!
I got ABB for Alevels, I can apply to foundation year right?
It depends on the univeristy as i believe those are classed as 'high grades'?
How many people would usually get in?? I’m lowkey scared Bcos my gcses are low and me hearing it’s more competitive scares me
Well my course has around 30 people on it I think! But so many apply so it is competitive!
Hey,I came through your video and found it really helpful but had a few questions in mind. What if you haven’t done GCSEs or Alevels in the Uk,so is it worth a shot to apply for medicine?Basically,I’m not a Uk permanent resident,I do hold a citizenship, but I had to move to my native country a few years back due to some personal reasons,so I’ve got my undergraduate degree from here,I was a little concerned about how things are gonna be for me as I’ve been a little unaware.Would mean alot if you can help me out somehow.
Hi There, so sorry for the late reply and i hope that everything is working out well for you. Every medical school has different requirements for their foundation years. My bets advice would be to contact the ones you are interested in and explain your situation for some clarity :)
Is it possible doing medicine with foundation course,?? Without A level??
You would have to speak to the univeristy directly about that.
if you do BMAT, would the requirement be lower than that of the original medicine course?? loved the video btw
btw we did the same a levels !! people get so annoyed when they find out I chose literature (although it’s completely different from high school) but stillll!
I don't believe so! Most foundation medicine courses don't even require BMAT, only UCAT! But, from what I know, doing the BMAT will have no effect on requirements :)
Do foundation year courses have lower ucat requirement
I believe they do majority of the time!
Do only few student who take a foundation entry course for medicine get to transition into the 5 year medical course?
( is foundation year competitive)
Nope, actually I think for all foundation year courses your guaranteed to go into the 5 year medical course if you pass it!
It’s just competitive to get into the foundation year itself due to small number of places available.
Hiii, so I'm doing btec level 3 applied science, after the 2 years, if I do a foundation course, can I go into medicine??
Succesful completion of the foundation course would lead to 5 year medicine yes :)
I’m not doing a level chemistry- would a foundation year be what I need to do?
It depends on the requirements that the univeristy has the foundation year. Each one is different!
Yes! You still stand a chance! And I think they already know :)
If I don’t have any learning background on chemistry, I have just studied economics, biology, mathematics in high school. Can I apply chemistry subject for the foundation course?
Depends on the university! It would be best to email or call them :)
Wait are there any age requirements or can anyone take a foundation year?
That I’m not too sure about! So sorry :(
Can you do a foundation year with only GCSEs
You have to do a-levels I believe!
Hello, which college is good to start foundation in anatomy?
Sorry I’m not sure about that one :(
(Not foundation year)For ur first year degree is the uni gonna give u accommodation?
I don't believe so! I'm going private for my official first year with my flat mates :)
Thanks for so much information...💯
I came from Pakistan and here I'm doing BTEC level 2 with English and Maths GCSE.
Alevels allows me to go to many carers but btec limits me
Hi there! I’d say try and get into a levels I’d you can as they are most widely accepted for unis :)
@@medicallyamber thanks for your advice but my college won't allow it now going for Btec level 3 sciences
Hi, I would like to ask a question. So regarding the enrty requirements at the foundation course, can they accept you if perhaps you acquired a BTEC in health and social care in college/sixth form, or do they want you to have gained previously an A level to acces this HE?
Im not entirely too sure. It would be best to ring up the university to find out!
Hii, I’m so confused for a level because for my 3rd option I want to do level 3 criminology along with chem n bio do u think universities will accept criminology as a third choice? bc i rlly don’t want to do maths
I did biology, chemistry and English lit! Most universities only require biology and chemistry, so you should be fine :)
@@medicallyamber Thank you sm!!!! :)
Where else did you apply? And did you do the summer school for notts?
I applied for Southampton, Leicester & Dundee! No, I did not go to summer school :)
How old are the ppl there
Usually 17-19 yrs old
Hi I think of applying to that too but my grades are lower than yours🥺 is your grades considered low???? For gcse
Don’t worry her gcse scores are great just she didn’t do the best in maths and didn’t get triple science so it wouldn’t have been considered good
Yeah my maths was poor and my school didn’t allow anyone to do triple unfortunately
:( Hopefully everything works out fine!
@@medicallyamber if the case was your school not allowing anyone to do triple don’t certain universities have exceptions for their grade boundaries for people from certain schools. Especially since you would have been disadvantaged compared to other candidates in terms of ability to meet criteria
I’m doing triple btec forensic and criminal investigation so I want to apply for foundation year at Manchester but it has science in it but like jus applied science so do u think I can still go onto do it? (I’m also doing a level chemistry)
You would have to ring up and ask!
Hopefully you see this, I have 3 A* in Bio, Chemistry and Psych but my GCSEs are only 2 8s (A*) and the rest 6 (high B) including maths and 5 (low B) English. I took a gap year, do you think I have a chance?
You will be absolutely fine! :)
Hey, i applied for the same course, medicine with foundation year at the university of nottingham this year, i got the interview, but unfortunately didnt got in. What do you think is the best thing for me to do now? I am currently in year 13 so what do you think is the best thing for me to do after A levels?
Hey if you don't mind me asking what did you end up doing x
Hey I changed my plan, I am currently doing Pharmacology xx
@@kaur1111 Ah right thanks for the reply wish you all the best
@@1256soph No worriesss, thank you so much, I wish you all the best aswell x
