I think these shows are working towards the ultimate revised historical insult which will be a remake of Zulu but all the British soldiers will be black actors and the Zulus white.
As someone who's ancestors went through the blitz I find it so offensive that they chose a black kid. All politics, agendas, opinions on whether it's right or not etc.. aside it really is absolutely insulting and appalling. I do not know the statistics but let's assume that there were a very tiny number of black kids during the blitz there was absolutely in no logical way enough to represent the thousands of white Londoners who perished and suffered one of the most tragic moments in the indigenous people of this countries history. Putting agenda over fact in this case is sickening. Let's say they made a drama about Hiroshima. I don't know there was any but let's say that there was a couple of white families living in the area at the time. If the dramatisation used white people or anyone but Japanese actors to represent arguably the he biggest disaster in Japans history it would be equally disrespectful and disgusting. The people who create these shows are literally being provocative and purposely trying to offend. Why else?
Dude you're not special. We all have family members who fought in that war. My great grandfather fought in that war unfortunately. Both regimes were oppressive anyways. Africans were forced to 'donate' money to britain since britain was going through rough times. In reality this was daylight robbery. Most Africans living in rural areas had to pay in the form if cattle.
The film presents a greatly sanitised version of what London and other cities were like during the Blitz. Further, the black population represented just 0.05 percent of the residents at that time. At my junior school in London in the 50s, there wasn't a single black boy, and just two of Asian descent. Good films are based on real situations, not contrived ones.
@@dirnnroot5691 I didn't like the story they chose to tell. There is no clear main character. the writing just isn't great and the directing gets really unsubtle and overly sentimental. The actors and production value are fine though but they don't save the film.
@@dirnnroot5691its a movie? That pseudo argument was lost since the entire trailer they said that their goal is to make “a real history movie” so yes the plot and all will fall if you go arround that, and yes the movie is bad, and that is one of the reassons, a minor one but a reason.
Don’t know to tell you this, but black people have been in Europe for centuries prior to World War Two. Also, the skin color of a character in a Historical Fiction movie should not dictate how you should view it.
I just watched the film. I thought the story was really beautiful and I am very confused about these comments. I don’t see why people are hating because the protagonist kid is black. It actually makes sense to the story if people watch it…..(cried twice.)
