I WASN'T EXPECTING TO SEE THIS ON ZARZAMORA STREET SAN ANTONIO

- My Sunday afternoon ride down Zarzamora Street in San Antonio, from Culebra Road to Woodlawn Avenue was an eye-opener. I wasn't expecting to see so many homeless people in the old neighborhood near where I grew up in the 60's - 70's. At one point I rode by a church group who were helping and praying for a few of them. (1/9/2022)

This really saddens me too see a once vibrant street filled with nice restaurants and businesses. I haven’t lived in San Antonio for about going on 40 years now, but I can still picture it the way it was, and it wasn’t this. This just saddens me. 😔😢
I watched the whole thing and it looks exactly the way it did when i left 22 years ago. Wow wow wow! Thanks for the vid. Amazing. I can smell the air, hear the sounds. It brings back so many memories.
Wow, thank you!
@@1DayInLife going south on zaramora st close to frio rd where Don's and Ben's on stands do you you remember a Sonnys drive in being in 60s and 70s do you remember the Piggy wigley across the st
@@andrewsalinas7498 Yes.
Do you remember the Empire Plaza where the Handy Andy and Winn's was?
@@1DayInLife of course, the building still there in bad shape but still standing, lol
No it doesn’t I roamed those streets as a dope fiend for years been clean 15 yrs and so many things have changed. The garden in is still there and the shopping centers but the stores are changed and some have been knocked down and changed to new convenience stores.
I truly appreciated your VIDEO BRO. MAY THE GOOD LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND INCREASE YOUR TERRITORY. 🙏
Thank you brother, it means alot!
I lived in Silverman street San Juan homes wonderful memories of el barrio
My family and I grew up right there nxt to that tire shop on ruiz, me and my uncle used to walk to crockett to play ball and games with all the neighborhood kids back in the 90s and early 2000s but I gotta say, from somebody who still visits my grandmother and family on zarzamora the area is getting worse, the homeless are more present then ever and the drama never dies down with bodies sometimes ending up on the front yard or shakedowns from the SAPD
The character of government. The war lords look what happen at the salten sea in California bomb bay Beach, the reason for the name. Bomb practice every one is blind to the fact that the churches are doing all of the destruction in the world so they can prove Bible prophecy to be true. So we have to bow down to the church. The churches are the biggest crooks and cons. Think about this churches everywhere donations are nowhere enough to do what the churches are doing the game
Build the people up to knock them down. America is already like that commercial on TV. Help I've fallen and I can't get up remember the churches are controlling your neighborhood and local government
I remember growing up on Pinto Street in the courts but I think they tore them down. I went to Ruiz Elementary. I was given up for adoption and live in Vermont. Totally different from TX. I hope to go back and visit one day. I miss the football in the streets and the chaos of Pinto ST.
What Courts did u use to live in??
@@younggizzleI lived in the San Juan Courts back in the 60"s and 70's. They were torn down a few years ago and replaced with new apartments.
⚡In case you haven't yet, check out my video: 'Cassiano Homes' which were about 4 blocks from the San Juan projects.
🙏Thanks for watching.
@@1DayInLife bro I live on ceralvo and calaveras I witnessed the demolition and reconstruction of the new San Juan Square Apartment for Low income families and housing is still welcomed but u gotta be more on the section 8 side
They Also Have Similar Plans For Tha Alazan Courts Aswell They Already Put The Brand New Buildings For Low income households
I wish I could reach out to you, dude! My wife and I, grew up in SA and love your vids! I used to bike ride alot. You are so great with filming and selecting great scenes and locations! Thanks!
I lived on Ruiz and Zarzamora for a little bit. Had lots of fun. Saw crazy shot lol
The amount of homeless people in San Antonio has almost quadrupled and it's nothing more but heroin addiction that and meth
Love for the souf!
I miss Sunday nights on Military. Best nights of the week esp w Sunday night Screw
Hey I'm in San Antonio I subscribed to your channel ❤😇🙌 I'm new to your channel
I lived in this area in the late 70s. It was not as bad as it is now. We could still use a pay phone without worrying about getting mugged back then.
My stumping grounds old address Jenning, between Zarzamora y Nogalitos!!!!Henry's tacos
I grew up right around there. Went to Charles Graebner elementary on Hoover.
This is sad for our people what happened to the vibrant community DAMN I grew up around this community I’m heartbroken 💔
I grew up on Hamilton and Salinas st. Used to be a beautiful neighborhood and now .well you rode down Zaramora it was not like that in 1960 .
Thanks for watching!
Great video if you ever think about seeing Mexico this saves you the expense, lots of trashy run down buildings with graafitti
Thanks 👍
stupid ignorant coment but you dont see homeless people in mexico like you do in san antonio and mex is a 3 rd world country
You mean to say poverty, not Mexico. Not all Mexico is in extreme poverty.
the guy in 15:02 the homie always giving him money for food 🤙🏾
10:07 is that the basilica of the little flower?
I was hoping this would had gone by laredo st,, El Casino,,Ese''
I live on N. Zarzamora right now. Hopefully temporarily as we hope to move to the country. Many homeless here. Don't like it here. But we have to wait.
Good luck to you.
Is this a dangerous area? Or just a poor side of town? I’ve always heard of it, but never went in that area.
It's relatively safe in the day.
Yeah, it's decent during the day, but at night, the homeless walk around and ask for money. If you are out late pumping gas at the shell, they walk up on you for money. I haven't seen a lot of seen crime to the extreme, but ya never know.
Wish San Antonio would change
12:22 We were one of the few white people that ate at tacos Rio Grande, we used to stop there coming home from taco land. I know who stole the old stuffed marlin from the building in that lot. Fun time in like 02'-04'.
Wheres rose room bar . Wheres margeritas ,lermas cantina .
The ice house , zazamora street gym .its all gone .😢
Lincon courts are still there
Vi el video ya que de Ahí salio una Ford ESCAPE 2012 QUE COMPRE ACA EN Honduras y quería ver donde camino...se ve tranquilo pero veo mucho Indigente en las calles...y gente ...
SA kind of reminds me of KC, Missouri. A lot of people don't know KC has a large Mexican-American population and it was part of the Santa Fe trail....ofc nothing like SA but it almost starts to have some southwest/west USA vibes mixed with the southeast, kind of like SA.
I doubt the homeless people are from San Antonio.
Do it at night for a more memorable experience
I'm planning on it soon!
Thanks for watching!
I agree ☝️
What happens at night

@@andrewsalinas7498 That is so cool bro! In the 60's we lived in the white courts untill we moved into the new red courts across Zarzamora on Carmen Place.
My mom was finally able to move us out of the courts in the mid-70's. My fondest memories took place in that hood.
⚡Keep an eye out for a new video on that area.
