- On 9 February 2021 Nobel Prize Laureate Venki Ramakrishnan spoke to students and scientists at EMBL (the European Molecular Biology Laboratory). He answered wide-ranging questions, tackling topics such as mentorship, work-life balance, and competition and collaboration.
This Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative event was organised in partnership with AstraZeneca and in association with EMBL.
He always been a inspiration for young student and researchers. I was lucky to interact with him during a scholars interaction in my Home town Kalyani, West Bengal, India..
One can take the stand that "I am going to accept everybody else's innovation in my area by referencing their work, but I would at the same time also keep the search to find my own new thing in the area (that being the main motive for research), very persistently and very patiently".
Thank you, Dr. Ramakrishnan.
Respected sir

Great!
This is very interesting.
Being a mentor is simple when the student is self-motivated.
I completed reading his book The Gene Machine during March 2021.
Truly one of the most under appreciated scientist of our time
Love from ArP(Arunachal}, India
It may not be that there is only an existing problem to solve, but it maybe that a new body of knowledge is discovered when solving the problem and going beyond by continued questioning.
🙏🙏🙏
I wish my PI be like him.
