I know many will disagree with me, (and that’s ok! 😊) but I actually prefer the older videos, and I go back to them from time to time. There was something down to earth and authentic about them. Videos where Stu and Shaye were casually talking in their kitchen while drinking wine, with the camera placed discreetly off to the side. It was like we were a guest in their home- as opposed to the more staged, production-like (albeit professional looking) videos now. Same feelings I have about The Daily Connoisseur. Loved her older ones, and don’t watch as many newer ones now.
I know, however, many subscribers prefer the better audio and visual qualities. I still would rather watch the humble video beginnings of a channel. ❤

You’re never too old to learn. We found our five acres when we were 63 and 67 y.o. Some friends and family thought we were crazy because of the work involve to bring it up to what we dreamed of. It’s mostly woods so work one acre which makes it manageable. We aren’t milking or raising large livestock. We’ve added a pole barn for our large family gatherings and to make it available for others. You’re doing great! Creating many memories for the kids. Blessings.

We just built a huge greenhouse and I have so enjoyed going In there and pick what I need. We’ve had veggies in raised beds outside but the greenhouse takes it to another level. We are getting ready to process another one of our cows. My goal is to have a dairy cow in the next year. We are about to put in it irrigation for all our fruit trees. It’s so hot and we need a steady stream of water. Can’t control the weather. 😆This was a fun video!! All the older clips put in was neat!

Always looking back helps keep the times you wonder if it’s worth it into perspective.
I love what you said about the level of quality of the food out there is and why it’s so important now than ever to grow quality food that makes the recipes taste so good.
I know growing our own food has helped us to be healthier than we’ve been in years prior.
We will be going into 2024 teaching our a couple of our grandchildren who are home schooled the importance of growing food and how/why we do what we do with the gardens. My husband will also be teaching them woodworking. Passing along the treasures of sustaining life to the next generations.

We just butchered an older dairy cow. We dispatch and send to a butcher and he said it was the 2nd best marbling he’s ever seen 🙌🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Rotational grazing, a local organic grain & alfalfa 👌🏽 Sold our other in milk cow bc it was too much milk for us.. Now you’ve planted a sheep seed 😂

Here on the opposite corner of the country, our problem is water too. Too much of it, lol!! But you're right; water is a tricky thing to balance. And OMG...your feed buckets tied with bale twine to the fence for your pigs is GENIUS. We have 3 heritage pigs about the size of your old ones, and if yours can get their snouts down in there, so can ours! (We lose our feed pans in the mud lol) THANKS!!❤

Lovely! Perfect way of live is always to be connected to our earth and grow our own food. Next year will be wonderful! I have also plans to make our little garden beautiful and grow more food and flowers. To realize what we really like and need feels sometimes overwhelming but taking the little steps makes it easy.
Wish you all the greatness and love and a happy new year!
Hopefully more and more people become selfsufficient.

oooo! I have Dairy sheep, love love them .... I would not have any other dairy animal. They are easy keepers easy on your fences and the milk is to die for. We are high desert too here east of the Cascades in Oregon. Not alot of pastures so I do supplement with alfalfa pellets during milking season. I just added a high percentage Lacaune ram to my flock. They are said to have the highest amount of butter fat.

On the off chance that this would be helpful for your greenhouse..I .just watched a youtube video by Jill Winger from 2 yrs ago about going to an 89 year old mans farm in Nebraska that grows citrus trees and veggies in a geothermal greenhouse. I can share the link if you would like if you cant find it and want to watch it. I didnt post it because I didnt know if that would be ok.
