PS: If you’re wondering why I’m moving and setting up the tree solo, Stuart threw his back out working sheep that morning and could barely hold the camera to film. I told him I’ve been practicing for such a moment (#girlswholift) and was happy to show off my skillz in tree carrying.
The horse brass your son put on the tree was from The Isle of Man which is situated in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland ,The 3 legs is supposed to mean no matter where they land it still stands ,
I love that you let your kids decorate the tree. So many you tube channels the mom decorates the tree so it impresses the people watching. I am an interior designer and I love real homes sooooo much more than fake ones….
Wonderful! One of my favorite memories of Christmas when I was a kid was the litter of kittens who thought our Christmas tree was the best thing ever. Seeing kitty heads peeking out became a daily occurrence. That was also the year we learned to not put ornaments on the lower branches - LOL too shiny and jingly for the kitties to ignore.
We left the city and started our homestead journey around 2018 thanks to RUclipsrs like you and others that inspired us. Our little place is 18 acres with a couple cows, sheep and chickens. We have a small garden every summer. Honestly, we are not close to competent at any of it yet but the decision to go was a really good one. My advice if you are thinking about moving to your homestead. Stop thinking and do it. Don't wait. 🙂
Your way with words is so amazing and awe inspiring. It’s so beautiful how much intent and sentiment you both put into all of these traditions with your children. You’re such an inspiration 🥹🫶🏼💕
Absolutely beautiful video! Y'all just continue to out-do yourselves. I love your tree and the story of letting go of unrealistic expectations and offering love and forgiveness to each other. Merry Christmas!
❤😂 here in West Michigan. We have a store called Bronner’s. It’s a claim to fame is the world‘s largest Christmas store. We went every year from our farm on the other side of Michigan of my young life. When I had my children, I started the same tradition. Needless to say we have bought ornaments and do dads that we couldn’t afford, but it was part of the adventure of taking small children to such a store, we laugh and we have glued them back together and hang them probably what a wonderful similar story. God bless and merry Christmas.
Beautiful tree and stories…yes things get broken, I’ve done lots of gluing over the years:) my grandson showed me how to twist the hooks on the ornament hangers so they stay, I’m proud of him teaching me that. I love to cook but sometimes I miss other things. I have several ornaments my daughter in law made, I put them on the tree every year and remember she was ill back then and I’m thankful she now has 4 beautiful children like you. Also several ornaments from a far away sister go up,for years we barely spoke and now she sends me a Christmas box each year. So May blessings.
Absolutely gorgeous. Your home is so warm, with a lot of love. Everything is done so lovingly and thoughtfully. The tree is beautiful and the hot chocolate, at the end...perfect.❤ You're so lucky to have some snow...still waiting here..lol.
Beautiful! I havent been inspired yet to decorate our empty nest home beyond our advent wreath and a few candles, but this has inspired me to get out a few more things to decorate simply, with the goal of peaceful love, joy and thankfulness. “Families patched together with love and forgiveness”, my new favorite quote!
I am so glad I purchased several boxes of clear with glitter snowflake glass christmas balls at K-Mart some 30 years ago for $7.49 a box. Back when my husband and I were just out of college. We lost a lot over the years to the dogs wagging tails, the kids playing, but now they are the priceless gems of our tree. You are right, life happens, and sometimes you get a win here and there.
Beautiful! Our Christmas tree is a visual book of our travels and memories and favorite things. It’s a living, speaking reminder of our lives. That sounds so hokey, but every year, we really love how our tree speaks “family”. Especially now that beloved grandchildren’s photos have joined the tree party. ❤
This is my favorite video you’ve done! Absolutely loved the Christmas Shoppe story as we can all relate to lofty holiday expectations being shattered like the many fragile ornaments we’ve bid farewell to over the years of children being young and rambunctious. We also have four young kids and we’ve had trees knocked down, tantrums in stores, and tears shed during times meant to be full of cheer. It’s all part of braving the season with little ones and I think often about how we will cherish the memories of even the worst of failed moments when they are grown. Just thinking about it tightens my chest. Your tree also looks very much like ours. I do enjoy a beautifully curated Christmas home but the tree belongs to the children when it’s time to trim. I let them have at it no matter how many ornaments are clustered together or sloppily hung. It always looks perfect from where I’m standing. Merry Christmas to you and yours! ❤
As you were telling the story of your children and the Christmas store I thought they must have been in Leavenworth. I live in Texas but my son and family moved to Seattle years ago. One summer they took us there and I think my daughter in law and I must have spent an hour in there just taking everything in. Your tree is beautiful
Thank you for this lovely video. Your words and images are so true to life. A deeply appreciate your approach. It feels real and authentic just like you and your family! God bless and have a lovely Christmas season! Greetings from Spain 🇪🇸
How beautiful your tree is! I like to put homemade ornaments on our tree. Every year my kids and I will add something creative to it. Stars made from popsicle sticks, painted and glittered. Maybe we’ll collect pine cones from under the cedar trees and paint them. I just love decorating our tree with precious memories.❤
hello shaye, i am not a farmer or a sustainability enthusiast . i don’t live a life even remotely similar to yours (but i do envy the ability to do so). iam just someone who needed something calming to get myself through each day of work and i have gotten that through this channel. it brings me so much pleasure to see you and your family working together . initially i thought your videos were in slow motion and later realised that’s how you work. calm and slow… enjoying everything. i decided to adopt that and with constant self reminders i have slowed down and it’s been a game changer for me. i love listening to your narration and it puts through to us your thought process and they have all been revelations for me. thank you for putting yourself out here❤
Where did you get the wheel of Parm reggiano ornament?! I want it! I've been a cheese specialist for the last 10 years for a large company and would love nothing more than to have a cheese ornament on our tree! 😂
Etsy and Amazon have a lot of cheese related ornaments...also not sure if you are in U.S. or Canada, but Hallmark, Michael's and specialty Christmas shops also could have them in your area.
I got tickled because I remembered what My son being 47 now surprised me. I used to get them a little toy on trips to town but I made them wait to open when they got home. I knew it would be in car to never find again. He said he had to sit and look at all way home. About 45 minutes. Oh no lol😂😢
Tell me, someone, about tying ribbons on the branches like this? Has anyone seen this before-like is it a regional or international tradition I’ve just never seen? I’m so curious.
The tree is beautiful! Seeing all the vintage ornaments brings back memories from my childhood also. My oh my how the children have grown since I have been watching your wonderful family videos. Merry Christmas to your family and Happy New Year

It looks beautiful & I did notice Stuart was missing but thought maybe was just a momma & children moment. I hope his back is better now.

"people patched together with love and forgiveness...like we all are." So beautifully and perfectly stated! 💕😭
Loved the video, but wanted to focus on How lovely Georgia is, I love her hair cut!

It gives me great hope and joy to see there are still families like yours, Shaye. ❤
Ah, Kris Kringl! I miss that store! I miss Leavenworth! Thank you for sharing the memory. ❤
Wow the kids are growing so fast! Love to see them carrying on the traditions they were taught.

I’ve been collecting ornaments for years ( 25 years ) since my oldest’s birth. I also prefer the traditional imperfect tree.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰Beautiful . Thank you ☺ Praying for Stewart's back 🤥🙏
