    great instruction. From experience you can drill the bace of the bridal and then when you cut the sides the bulk of the waste will fall out. then you just have a little waste to remove with the chisel. traditional mortises are cut first, that way the tenons are easier to fit to the mortise. I am thoroughly enjoying your style. all the best Michael

    This is one that I missed due to Christmas business. Can really see the difference in your workshop now. Amazing bench, would also look good in country style kitchen :)

    Nicely done again John 😁👍. Surprising how much the aprons increase the rigidity of the bench, very impressive 😁. Great concept, great value, if my shop wasn't so small I would start making one tomorrow 🙁. Great vid. Have that well deserved beer 🍻. Happy Christmas 🎅👍.

    up late,watching this,gonna make a workbench in new year,have it all planned out,8x4 so you can guess what top is gonna be,but legs and frame is gonna be same as yours so this video helped me,especially my worries of using pine,as you know how bad it can be in ireland from yard. i will be putting massive dowels in all joints for strength and biscuit joints to align.

    I'm looking to build a workbench for myself and have watched quite a few videos but I do like the nice simple but strong design of your benches, so I think this is the design I'll go for. One thing that struck me while I was watching you trenching the aprons on your miter saw was that if you only glue two of the boards together first then you could cut a dado straight through and glue the last one on afterwards to cut down on the chisel work, just a thought. thumbs up and subscribed.

    If you don’t have a band saw could you cut the bridal joint and mortise in the legs before you glue the 2x4s together? (Clamp them together to draw out the knock lines so they are aligned.)

    Alri John.. Would u suggest going to a timber merchants for a better deal on the wood? I'm about to begin setting up my own workbench for a workshop in my garage.
    What is the best surface for a tabpe saw?? Some ppl say Plywood has toi many imperfections, meaning it wouldn't be a level working surface so I was wondering which material was the best for buikding my own Table saw with the Router built in as an extra fitting.
    The info for this build was excellent too man. Brilliant work John. 🛠

    Hi John total novice here but think I'm having a mid life crisis and want to get into a bit of woodworking. Appreciate your help, can I make this with hand tools only (plus a pretty basic mitre saw/drill)? I have pulled together your beginner starter kit from another of your vids and wondering if this bench is achievable for a novice with limited gear/no band saw. Really enjoying the vids 👌

    Confused John. Even though the vids that say this makes sense. When cutting a mortice, by no means make you way to the cut line as you have to turn chisel round and use excisting wood to prize the undneath out. Go any near cut line and you bruise it. Can you make me understand.

    I really enjoy the character this project had. And let me say I felt a bit guilty hearing you hand planed those 4×2 as I'm gonna use my table saw to rip the bevels off. I have the same leg style and they sire do take a beating. Cheers and be safe

    As you say top drop the top bar for the vice on the big bench can you show what holds the top up on either side as I see it the centre waste bit rests on the top bar only if you could show an end view underneath

  • @gamiwv
    @gamiwv 2 года назад

    Nice but very time consuming. It is much easier to cut the mortise before gluing the two boards (I think) using a power router and a little or no chiseling (13:00)
