I have worn out my Rudolf Serkin recording from 1959 (I believe) which is considered the watershed recording of this extraordinary set of variations, but this performance (this LIVE performance!) is easily comparable to that one (in my humble opinion), also to the recording made by Mr. Horzowski. Both Serkin and Horzowski were long-time teachers of Richard Goode. How fortunate we are to have had all three of these musicians in our lifetime! Words fail me how moved I am having just listened to this performance! A million thanks to Richard Goode and all the folks who make Parlance concerts available to the public!
