  • "Scorsese speaks with film critic Farran Smith Nehme about the relationship between the short films on this disc, his subsequent filmography, and his personal inspirations. Scorsese memorably considers Italianamerican and American Boy as respective companion pieces to Mean Streets and Taxi Driver, and speaks at length about Italian neorealism and the work of Elia Kazan and how they influenced his love for naturalist textures." [Quote from Slant Magazine]
This conversation was conducted in February 2020 in New York City.

Great interview. It's depressing to see Marty age and inevitably leaving us but happy that he's still as enthusiastic and energetic, passionate about pictures as ever!

Martin Scorsese looks real good for his age. Can’t wait to see his Next film.

Honestly, the best interviewer. It feels like most interviewers only ask directors about working with certain actors 🙄

Curious that he leaves the great generation of American TV directors, as good as the "Movie Brats"; Lumet, Frankenheimer, Shaffner, Penn, Mulligan, completely out of the equation.
