Hi Derek, I just used this model again today (for the 3rd time) and I have to say your review is 100% dead on target man!!! If anyone is looking at one of these, this guy's review will honestly tell you everything you need to know. Thanks for sharing this one Derek.
Wow, measurements, decibels - very thorough review. I actually LIKE that it can be plugged in - it is infuriating you can only use a cordless vacuum for a few minutes before you have to charge it up again! I WANT a corded hand-held vacuum, that is what I like about this one! The only thing I am concerned about this one is I hope it is not too loud.
Hey 2022 here. How would you compare this hand vac to the popular black and decker cordless vacumes on the market place. I have had numerous problems with them, battery life is always a huge deal breaker for me so that is intially why I was interesting in this corded hand vac, but outside of that, suction power sucks on most hand cordless vacs and exaust blows air into the pathway of your vacume. I am hoping this vacuum doesn't have these problems and suits our need. Being on A.C it should technically have stronger power.
They are pretty similar in terms of performance. The difference is really corded vs. cordless. You get more power with corded, but it's also more of a hassle.
Would you pls recommend a corded hand-held vacuum for workshop use? Not the ones with bulky containers. Something that will pick up small pieces of wood or small rock pebbles pls?
I haven't tested any shop vacs yet, so I don't have any strong recommend. I've got coming up soon from Prolux...this one - geni.us/jfQ8 (Amazon) It shows a lot of promise. I'll have that review on ModernCastle.com within the next few weeks.
@@ModernCastle Thank you for your quick response. Yes, that really looks promising. However, it is far from what I was really looking for. But thanks for your kind attention.
@@ModernCastle when I took it unpacked to the UPS store yesterday to send it back to Amazon, the young man working at the counter was friendly and I told him why I was returning it. 😀 He asked if I wanted him to try to pull the thing out, and he did it!
I just got mine today. What great suction and I love the long cord, so I can do the bathroom and hallway in my apt. w/o unplugging it. Does very well on my little rug by desk, too. (using the stair tool.) Mine didn't come with dusting brush or hose, but that is fine. I have had 2 handheld (cordless) vacs, and this one is tops!!
I'm confused. Your video clip opens with the line "the next in a long line of American scorpions that really suck", but in the video clip you give it a pretty good overall rating. You even add that it scored 87% or better on performance test. Are their other scorpion models, by Dirt Devil, that happen to be inferior to the model you tested? So which is it,... Is it a overall good model as described in your review, or does it suck?
Nice vacuum. I does the job perfectly. It’s not for cleaning floors or a long oriental rug. If you need to clean floors and carpet that he advertise buy a dam vacuum cleaner. It good for. Cleaning crevices, corners on floors, sofas, small dirt spills, hard to reach corners where a vacuum cleaner can’t reach. Nice vacuum buy it
Turn off your camera's autofocus for your talking-head shots - the camera is "hunting" like crazy and the shot is out of focus about half the time. Thank you for your review!
Yeah, we have fixed the focus issues in our more recent videos. The auto focus is pretty bad on our camera. We just started manual focusing all of the talking head shots. Sorry this one is such a mess.
Would you still say this is a good choice in 2020, or at this price point (or slightly higher) is there now a better choice? Thanks for the video! Subscribed!
As far as corded handhelds go, I think it's still a very good choice. That said, there haven't been many new solid corded handhelds released in the last couple of years. Even so, for the price it's hard to go wrong with the Quick Flip.
Very useful review! I was actually looking into getting a handheld vacuum to pick up birdseed and wasn't exactly sure if this would do the job. After watching this vid I'm pretty certain it will, especially since I have hardwood floors so big thanks (:!
Unfortunately, I'm not sure. I'll check next time I'm at our storage facility (we have a lot of our older vacuums in storage to try and save space in our studio).

A strong suctioning vacuum will always be loud because it works.

The linus tech tips of vacuums 🔥🔥🔥
This is probably the nicest comment I've ever received. I've looked up to Linus for many years.
Thank you so much :)

I just bought the Scorpion and I like it very much. I pulled out the flip crevice tool and can’t get it put back. Help!
Take a look at the manual. If I remember correctly you need to sort of pull it out to unseat it, then you can fold it back in.
@@ModernCastle yup,, that’s what it says, but I can’t get it to budge.
@@Hyacinth64 Sounds like it may be defective then

My mom used to have one of these. We used it a lot to vacuum the couches and clean out the car. It was a good one!
just got this vacuum today, amazing little super powerful electric vacuum
Glad you like it!

I like them corded because I believe they have more power
Corded is the way to go for power vs price. I just ordered the updated version SD20005RED and looking forward to cleaning the car with it.

It's a vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaners "suck" stuff up. It's a pun. A bad one.
@@ModernCastle Sorry, a little slow here on the rebound. In any case thanks for the clarification. I ended up buying one this morning.

Would this be good for vacuming baking soda off a mattress?
It would be okay, but not ideal.
I would recommend a more typical full size vacuum with a mattress or other wide nozzle attachment.
can you clean the filter instead of buying a new one?
Unfortunately, not. They are not washable.
Hi! do you have the name of the filter model? or a link to where I can buy them?
You can buy here - amzn.to/2LiRZrz

@@vanillacupcake7379 You're welcome!
New model has a reusable filter that must be rinsed.

There's also a Dirt Devil Scorpion Plus now. It would be great if you could do a comparison of the two. :)

Thank you dude, it really helped me make a decision
