    Damien Schmitt
    Born in a family of musicians, Damien first learned playing the drums with his father
    From the age of 4, he practiced as a musician directly on stage.
    His mother being a piano teacher and singer in the family band, he took an early interest in singing and learned to play several instruments including bass and guitar which quickly became his favourite.
    At 16 years old he produced, directed and released his first album under the name Yossoma. He sings and plays all the instruments on this record.
    After this first experience as a professional recording artist and director, he created his band where he was writing music and texts. This band ended up performing at the final of the “Printemps de Bourges” festival in France, a very important festival where many new talents started their professional career. The adventure continues and 3 years later he released a second album: Yossoma - FM Francophone Revolution.
    2001 Damien moved to Paris. This is where he started playing as a live drummer on tour for the most famous French artists like Yannick Noah, Khaled, Gage, Alain Georges Jones, Emma Daumas, Zap Mama, Les Nubians ... He forged a solid reputation in the jazz fusion and played with Dominique Di Piazza, Jean-Marie Ecay, Hadrien Feraud. It also replaces Paco Sery in Sixun...
    Offering also his talents on records, he is featured on a lot of best seller albums (see Discography) with for example Jannick Top & Eric Lelann, Bireli Lagrene, brothers Raymond, Hadrien Feraud. He is also a member of of Jean-Luc Ponty’s band since 2007.
    In 2010 he started his collaboration with Alain Caron. They recorded 2 albums: "Septentrion(2010) Multiples Faces (2013)
    Since 2010 he's playing in the amazing trio with alain Caron and Frank Gambale
    In 2011 he created the XARDA PRODUCTION company with his partner Alex Grousset.
    They created the educative APP for Android, Ipad,PC,MAC 'isYOURteacher' : isyourteacher.com
    In 2012 Damien is called to be part, as a singer, to the well know TV Show: The Voice.
    In 2013 his electro album 'Make Some Noise' came out under the name of Electro-Schmitt
    In 2015 Damien will finally deliver The Dada Show's album , electro/Funk/Broken beat album.
    As you can see Damien never stop working to offer you his best.

    Amazing. Simply Amazing. His playing is a reflection of the pure joy that's on his face while drumming. Wish I could pick his brain for a while and trade 4's

    It's a shame about the audio recording quality, but there is no doubt Mr Schmitt is the most talented drummer - with the most acute sense of "where 1 is" - alive today.

    • @00741
      @00741 9 лет назад +3

      He's good, but there is no such thing as 'the best or most talented drummer'. Drumming is not a competition. Each drummer is good in its genre. Drummers like Chris Coleman, Matt Gartska, Nathaniel Townsley, ... are equally skilled, but are better drummers in particular genres.

    Those where not only chops.It was unseen display of playing in odd time, polyritmics etc. That is what's musically most valuable here.

    Any criticism of this video is mind boggling. His interdependence is unreal, seriously if that just doesn't make you want to work hard and just smile from watching it there is something wrong with you.

    Excellent, if I had only one critique it would be that although it was amazing from a drummers perspective and amusing, it wasn't very musical, ya know Luke weckl musical, coulve fit the music a little better, other than that, great player

      do you even know what the word "Musical"means? this guy is talented, and hes having fun doing what he likes to do. Just because you don't like the playing, doesn't mean it isn't "Musical" , it just means you are ignorant for making stupid statements....

    • @mastermindmusics6337

      Jessica Cassidy sorry sweety but he is right. the dude is amazing. theres no question about that, however the solo reflected on the song like a black t shirt reflects the sun. theres a lot of heat but no reflection of the beautiful sun. what he is saying is there is no development of the or a theme. It sounds like he listens to Marco Minneman. When it is his turn to solo he just lets the dogs out. He has a GREAT METER I'll tell you that most people practice to their iPod, (I use to practice to a turntable.damn I'm getting old) I can tell he practices to a click and tempo change exercises . Like I said he is a phenomenal musician. The solo merely lacks, like Mr.Cervantes put it musicality.

    @mastermindmusics6337 10 лет назад

    You're an amazing drummer no doubt about that however you need some musicality in your solo. its like you totaly abandon the theme of the song and just chop it up. you need to play something that has to do with the song and groove . just an opinion, i hope you don't take it as an insult. you are truly amazing i wish i could be that fast without having to practice so long. I have the technique, just not the speed. You are fricken FAST bro!!!!! and you have GREAT METER. Anywho, keep it up and God Bless you.

    • @DrummClem
      @DrummClem 10 лет назад +1

      I think that's what they call "pllaying off the grid" : putting the basic groove away, do something else, and coming back on the first one like nothing happens.
      One can not like it, but that's WOW anyway.

    • @dxb8086

      _"you need to play something that has to do with the song and groove"_
      It's a live-session, mate. When explaining music, it helps to know it first.
