For your rear hold down, I would have used , think your metric so 10.9 rod of size with then nuts onto hold the lower tube down then likely for me to use a nut under the upper tube wall. Yes I love to complicate things. Working on designing something much larger now. LOVE IT.
The pipe increases the strength by a massive amount and prevents the box section from buckling. When tipping there is a lot of force on this hinge. If you don’t use the pipe, eventually the holes will wear.

I've built an Arb box for tree surgery. 60mm x 40mm box steel frame and 1.5mm galvanised sheet (should have gone a bit thicker but was trying to keep the weight down). I'll post a full video when the build is completely finished.

Nice piece of hardwood (similar in size to the piece of softwood in the video).
