- This classic Arrow Dynamics custom looping coaster originally opened in 1976 as Turn Of The Century with only two corkscrew loops. In 1980 the two vertical loops were added, the track was repainted black and given the Demon theme.

I remember riding this ride back in 1976. It was considered at that time a BIG thriller of a ride. It was lots of fun and brings back some good memories :)

This was my first roller coaster. Best decision I ever made! Ironically my daughters first was Raging Bull! Now she's hooked! Love six flags!

IKR there is no head rest and it’s just uncomfortable

Me too. Probably cause I grew up seeing the Steel Phantom every summer
What I like about this Arrow Dynamics Coaster Marvelous creation is that Great America has kept it going since the 1970’s and I hope it won’t suffer the same Fate as one of my Favorite looping roller coasters Ever the Great American Scream Machine at my Home State Park Six Flags Great Adventure and when it does reach the end of its service life I hope Great America will replace with something that the Fans of Six Flags Great America of this coaster and Batman’s the ride plus Raging Bull that they will remember for the long Haul

Despite this ride being as old as it is, if you know how to negotiate with the corkscrew it's still a fun ride

Pro tip to ride tense your neck up entering the corkscrews that's the worst part with some very awful feeling motions but get through those three seconds and your golden.

I've love the way the lift sounds and then just a loud woosh before the drop. It just tickles my balls.

@1021emmy Its not bad its just some people are dumb and pull their head off the seat and thats what usually hurts. Its a great ride, just don't do that.

Excellent video! I mentioned on another video of The Demon in California that the first drop on the Gurnee version seems steeper. Anyone know if that first drop is the same or different?

Yes. In 1998, the black train got stuck in one of the loops.
I hurt my back on this coaster, but it was fun.

I've heard this ride is painful. How bad is it? It's the only ride I haven't been on at Great America
It isnt painful it's actaully the least scariest ride you get on at one point your head bangs across the seat after like going to second loop just stay stiff plus I got on twice thats saying alot.
Is that B&M in the background Raging Bull? Also wasn't Demon used in the first scene of Final Destination 3?
If you're talking about 2:26, then yes, that is Raging Bull in the background. Also around 52 seconds that is also Raging Bull. The roller coaster at 1:30 is X-Flight.
Any tips on the corkscrew at the end? I got a massive headache from that the last time I went
Press your feet to the floor of the car and lean into the direction of the corkscrew.

Most of our members say X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain is their favorite Arrow Dynamic coaster.
That is an amazing coaster mainly because it is a 4d coaster. :) My favourites are Vortex and Dragon Fire at Canada's Wonderland. :)

The corkscrews on this ride is the worst part. It bumps you to the headrests. Ouch! This is probably one of the worst coasters I've ever been on.
brzezij Shockwave was worse. Anaconda is even more torture.

it is in part the restraints, OTSRs are what you bang your head against. Besides that it's just the way arrow used to make their rides. Back when demon was built and I think right up until their last few coasters arrow would finish the track pieces on site whereas newer manufacturers do it in factory where they can make the track more precisely and therefore smoother. The rest of it is the arrow designs. They may have been top notch at the time but the transitions into corkscrews on almost all of their rides are awkward and have the train sideways before rising into the corkscrew itself so when the upward transition hits it sorta smacks your head down into the restraint.

bruh the demon isn't even scary at all in fact none of the roller coasters are scary they all make me laugh and want to get on it again

I will be at six flags great America in 13 more days can't wait and we are staying there for three days and we are going to get a limbo to go out to eat in a hotel at six flags and me and my family are getting a sweet at six hotel and we get room service and we get to get anything we want like CAKE and ICECREAM😜😘👍👌✌️

I hate this ride. It gave me a bad headache
This ride should have been closed or replaced years ago. A 30 year old coaster? Maybe they are keeping it open for nostalgic reasons but everyone over 16 years of age would find this ride boring after their 2nd ride.
Not this 16 year old, its nostalgic for me and i wasnt even around for its younger years. One of my personal favorites
