Same! It’s the last model of its kind in the U.S. The model is a Schwarzkopf Monster 3. Schwarzkopf is sadly out of business. Hopefully there is still plenty of parts to keep it running more. This thing opened with Great America in 1976.
it seems fairly easily for parks to keep Shwarzkopf creations running. I don't know if it's just easy to restore there stuff, if there parts are similar/interchangeable, etc. I personally feel ripped off there isn't anything by them near me, used to have "Laser" at dorney about 1hr 30minutes max away but stupid Cedar Fair removed it and replaced it with a garbage invertigo boomerang (and then removed that too). Since then I've ridden one of their super-rare enterprise designs in florida, scorpion at BGW, Whizzer and this at Six flags great america, mind bender at SFOG, and hope to experience more in the near future.
Oh my god! I can’t believe this is here!! Growing up in the Bay Area in California, we went to Marriott’s which was also known as Great America (then became Paramount’s Great America and the California’s Great America) and when I was little, this was my FAVORITE ride! When Paramount took over, they removed this ride and put in Days of Thunder and I was crushed! I didn’t know there still was a lobster ride somewhere in the country. I’m going to have to visit someday and see if it was as amazing as I remember from the age of 7. 🤗
Cool! It's _The Lobster_ again! I didn't like the years when they changed the name to _East River Crawler,_ all for the sake of _Batman, the Ride_ and the related DC Comics themeing! When the flat ride went back to its original name, wasn't it moved to a different part of the park as well?
