I got my first crested gecko about 5 months ago he’s a Harley Quinn pinstripe that i got from a reptile show & i just added a female yellow tiger that i got from a local breeder. No idea what morphs they come from and i hate that but I’m just getting into breeding and see this as more of a project rather than for the money but that’s always a bonus if things work out. I’ve been jam packing my brain with info since getting my male and have watched multiple videos from you, thanks for the tips :)
I fell in love with geckos and I find them so fascinating. I bought six in just five months. I bought two babies and some sub adults. I've done so much research and I want to start breeding next year and this video was very helpful!! I want to be 100% informed and prepared before I breed for fun. Might donate to the LPS as well since they are in such high demand in my area.
I just checked Lily Whites on morph market and 600$ seems to be on the lower end of the spectrum but definitely realistic. So now I'm not sure if you meant that that was too cheap or too expensive.
thank you for this! my geckos are still young and ive been thinking about breeding them next year, now i will think about it more so i wont do anything wrong C:
Really nice! So far my female has had 4 baby geckos and 4 eggs! 2 are due next month!!!! It’s really exiting to see the babies, My female was my first ever reptile! I grew her out since she was a baby!!
This video helped Alot. My mum bought two crested geckos as hatchling and never got them sex'd. Two years later, I knew they were a male and female. She didn't believe me til all of a sudden, two eggs appeared and a few weeks later, two more eggs show up xD
I run Elmer's exotics witch is strictly exotic fish , now I'm expanding into reptiles aswell . Have Raised a bearded dragon and created gecko since they were both baby's , also have had over 2 dozen snakes , ball python/Boas , ext I feel like I am now ready to take on crested geckos... But was still finding it sort of hard to find clear answers on some specifics. Thank you for making a great video! Will definitely subscribe
I have been wanting a crested gecko for about a year now and I am in love with your channel I currently own 6 reptiles now and look forward to collecting reptiles
Hi I’m thinking of buying a baby crested gecko and maybe breeding it when it’s grown up to an adult. What not too expensive but no too cheap morphs would you recommend
Hi, I’m new to your channel and just wanted to thank you for your very helpful information. I’ve been keeping crested geckos, gargoyle geckos and leopards as well as a bearded dragon for a couple of years now. This year we decided to try breeding the cresteds but was given some bad advice from a couple of people which ultimately led to us losing our eggs. I have learnt so much from you that it has helped me to regain my confidence to breed for the spring. Can’t thank you enough for educating us with regards to breeding. Look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future. 💕🦎💕
Some advice about clutch sizes! If you’re starting out with a female that has never bred before, she might lay less eggs than the average clutch size on her first season. About maybe 8 fertile eggs compared to the 10-14. Since she’s a first time breeder she may be dumping some of her infertile eggs or she may not know how to use the laybox the first time around. She might lay her first clutch, infertile or not, outside the laybox randomly before she gets the hang of it.
Super helpful! I just got my first crested gecko 2months ago she is about 16grams and is a year old. I paid $160 for her and I think I over paid, she's lavender pin stripped harli. I noticed so many people have this coloration, which is fine with me. It's interesting to learn this information & all the time that went into my lilo being created haha 🥰 I have seen many people on Craigslist selling for $40 a gecko :(
Thanks for the video! Mine is still young roughly about 9 grams...when he gets bigger (older) will he be a little more easier to handle? I practice with him a few times a week but he’s always wanting to get away or jump ..just curious if he will chill out when he gets bigger
I got baby's juveniles and adults and me and my kids handle all of them everyday no problem sometimes when we first get one uy doesn't want to be touched but within minutes they get over it. Stop beinf a chicken and just grab it lol
I'm pretty sure Scaredy Cat geckos has finally came to a hault.. as I have 1 kiddos I'd bought from her .. outstanding cresties.. but I believe she got overwhelmed with everything she'd had personally going on. I know that one of the higher up breeders did take on her collection & is doing great . But I also see this video is from a year ago..so got anyone watching this now 2022.. Scaredy Cat Geckos isn't breeding anymore. I can highly recommend many many good breeders. Tikis & Altitude Exotics is awesome as well...& Flawless as well. Caladonia Rhacs, Jen Helms, Cowajunja, paradise cresties, cool calm crested, the list goes on!
Hi! I’ve started working in breeding my friendliest geckos because I think fully domesticating them would be neat. Any advice? I’m currently breeding a male lavender and cream harlequin with a female high yellow brindle with sideburns (spikes on her side as well as the normal crests). I have another high yellow male inkblot set up for when he’s older to breed with this female as well. Any advise is appreciated!
Besides visual appearances what about hereditary health conditions or diseases? This came to my mind because crested geckos are very popular, so this means a lot of them are being bred from only a few individuals that came from the wild(some of these original geckos are still alive).
We’re you getting them for 20 or 30 bucks iv looked for almost a year now bro and can’t find them less then 240 so I went to tiki geckos and spent some $$ for 😅14 of them we’ll do unboxing tomorrow very good video 🤘🤘🤘
I’m looking to start breeding cresties and was wondering would I be best getting juveniles and raising them up or would I be best off buying a reading to breed male and female. I already have a male and I’ve had him two years since he was 5 months old but I’ve been advised to not breed him as he has no lineage
Best advice I can give is spend the amount of money you would on an adult gecko twoards a nicer looking juvie, then grow your brand while your raising the babies up.
i feel very bad for those geckos that people are randomly buying than breeding. I've owned crested geckos for years, and I want to breed them for money, but mostly just for the fun of it! They are beautiful animals, and this video really helped me!
Just make sure you know what you're getting yourself into. And plan on having enough tanks for each and every one just as if you would intend on keeping them because if you don't know your local market for reptiles/cresteds, you may be stuck with a bunch of babies. There's a guy near me selling his for pretty much whatever he can get (he said he sold a few for 30 or so, which is almost nothing) because he has a bunch of babies and doesn't know what to do with them now so he's borderline giving them away for free. I may ask him if he wants to trade for feeder insects since I have entirely too many at the moment 😆 my waxworm/mealworm/bsf larvae breeding went a little better than I anticipated.
@@Dakotahblueexotics yes! I'm no breeder but it irritates me in general when people dismiss a plausible train of thought (such as the genetics definitely being predictable with cresteds) just because they are either too lazy to put more thought or effort into it. And the worst is when they pass this false thought process along as a fact. Brian from altitude exotics also has a good video on this topic but I'm sure you already know that. And on a totally different note: Man... I'm definitely going to have to get a tokay from you someday. It'll be a hot minute until I can financially, but I need one. I love all of the little ones you've shown in your past videos. On a scale of go for it - hell no, think I could just handle the babes without gloves? I hate using gloves for anything really, you can't feel what the heck you're doing and I really can't gauge their bites since I don't have one yet. Just wanted your input 😂
You may see them at $600 or higher. But my lil guy is price less because it’s mine.ppl or breeders would say man that’s as common as dirt.but see 😍 when I see it 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the tips, but I'd Imma wait a couple years until I start breeding; it absolute HELL applying for reptile breeding permits here (which I can understand, because people are irresponsible here) even a permit for an actual animal isn't the easiest achievement. But I wouldn't breed for money, just as a hobby.

We going to over 20 crested gecko videos now :D

It's the same thing for breeding rats. The colors and patterns can be great, but you want a good looking body structure more

If your baby doesn’t have a lot of spots is it possible that as the gecko grows and sheds that it could develop more spots

How would you find out the genetics of one you rescued?
By any chance is there anyone near Sheffield who has a spare crestie tank thats around 18x24 inches that i could buy/take off their hands?
Thankyou
Use large tubs lol you can get some massive tubs for £5 from poundland
Good growth to the channel 🙌.
Thanks man!

why are large floppy crests preferable, just aesthetics?
Yes, it makes them look better and looks more healthy
@@notchyochesegaming5819yeh, I don't like that floppy crests are being tied to health benefits when it seems to be purely based on looks.

How do u know if a baby is gonna have a good crest
I subscribed when you started talking about genetics 👌 well done
Well be doing a full list of all the morphs they come in soon!

I know about genetics from learning about reptiles and it made some of high-school bio quite easy. 😂
Is male who’s 27 g okay to breed
That's a fine size
@@Dakotahblueexotics thank you
Like a giant head Halloween or a Dalmatian supercluster. We need more high end designer crested geckos to push into ball python prices.
Lilly whites have definitely helped the market with being able to create combos.
Thank you for saying that about the genetics. They are not above rules and it is predictable
Its so annoying 😂

Idk I have to figure out a good one to out do the 400k video 😂

Dont plan on getting rich .....love the animals
This comment is so important!!
Don't breed an animal your not willing to hold on to the babies for a while it can take time to sell
