I was a backpacker before a climber, so an evil pleasure of mine is to watch climbers suffer on long approaches, gotta say though, you took on a beast of a trip. Props on a dope send!
Nice video capturing your adventure. My friend and I climbed it in day last year. It had been on my list to do for many many years. It took us two attempts. Our first try it snowed 2” on us right as we got to the base. We had to go down on snow covered rocks. I hope that you had time on the summit to take a shot of whiskey from the summit box before rushing down. I don’t know why the third pitch is rated R. There was plenty of gear options. I thought that the climbing was excellent, but I like how you talked about all the other stuff that you see on an adventure like this. I hope that you saw the lizard tracks in the rock at the base. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I had a high gravity day at the gym and my elbow was killing me. Feeling really nihilistic and sorry for myself. What’s the point. 32 is so old. Maybe I should choose another passion that is easier on the body…etc. the negative thoughts were flowing. Then I saw this video, experienced emotion, and realized I can never stop climbing. I’d sooner die. The shape of my blisters etc etc
I just started climbing a few years ago, have chronic asthma and am 52. I’ll probably never do what these girls did but it sure inspired me to keep on going to see what I can do till I truly can’t do it anymore
i am a 29yo male and started crying around 9:00. I go too fast and climbing has its moments in nature that I couldn't appreciate without... it may have saved my life..
Hi Mary and Kaya. I saw part one yesterday and loved it. Today, watching part two, I'm gobsmacked (British slang). What a great adventure and insight into a wonderful friendship. I recently saw a photo of, Pauline Smith and Lucy Ranken, of the "Ladies Scottish Climbing Club" on Salisbury crags in 1908. The photo is very inspiring as is this video of the pair of you. Sending good vibes from London for your future climbs.
