I have actually experimented with lemon balm and it does repel mosquitoes. I soaked a ton of leaves in a light cooking oil in a mason jar and stuck it in a sunny window for about a week. You can change out with fresh lemon balm until the oil has a lemony scent. I rubbed some on one leg and sure enough, the mosquitoes only went for the untreated leg. 👍🏻

They should germinate well from seed if you surface sow and leave them uncovered or only lightly cover the seeds. Keep them watered and in 10 to 14 days.
