I just recently purchased a 2021 touring legacy and have to say I love the car. I have driven trucks for as long as I could remember however was tired of the ridiculous price for gas. Half of a tank in my truck costs the same as filling up the legacy and I get twice as many miles. Very comfortable, stereo jams out and has plenty of pick me up when you put the pedal to the floor. Also really like the cooled seats especially when leaving from the gym! Overall good car and am glad I made the purchase
Truly enjoyable, thorough video. I have a 2023 XT Touring Legacy on order, and your demeanor and detail just got my juices flowing a little more during the wait. Nice job!
i've had my 2025 for 3 days, i'd say it's in the same league as an es350, better in some area not quite as good in others. If you want one, don't delay this is the last year. they fixed the seat climate controls - you can set from the home screen.
Dead switches sometimes occur if a lower trim model had some manual controls that are automated in the higher trim. For example - if the beab height is automated in the higher trim, the switch is blank, but in a lower trim model there would be a manual beam height adjustion switch.
If Subaru would just ditch the gigantic screen or simply just separate the ac controls from it, it would’ve been so much nicer of a car. Other than that, I love the legacy
I’ve had two Foresters. Both needed more power, more sound deadening, bigger radio screens and USB ports that are more easily seen/accessible. Other than that they were good cars. Reliable and good in snow. Subaru needs to improve exterior styling too.
Great review and I love your enthusiasm. I have a 2021 Premium and just ordered a 2023 Limited. I was worried about the CVT but it turns out it is a non concern. Shifts effortlessly (fake I know) but zero droning and pick up is awesome. I am not looking for a rocket and the non turbo has plenty of power. The paddle shifters are of no use to me. Huge fan of the car and the super comfortable ride. The only thing I do not like is the Tom Tom navigation. The voice prompt is useless. However, it is fine when directions entered manually. The screen is pretty cool and easy to use. The 2023 updated some of the functions. (Heated seats). Thank you for all of this useful information.
So, the two dead switches there are actually left overs from the Outback version of the car. They're meant for memory height on the tailgate and one other thing I don't remember.
Great review. Looking very carefully at Subaru. Crosstrek and Legacy…which one? I like the luxury of this Legacy!! Again great “real and honest” review!!
2 questions… 1) Is there a button for Brake Hold or not a feature for the Legacy? 2) That brown leather will darken over time right? I don’t like how bright it is initially, but I’m thinking it will look better in time. Thoughts?
Brake hold is the active vehicle hold. The brown leather does look a bit better as time goes on in the 19 Outback so hopefully it is the same here as time goes on.
About the blank switches: it’s one of the parts they had to cheap out on, on the Outback the power lift gate controls are placed there, and since the legacy is a sedan with no power trunk, they don’t get those buttons. It is annoying especially buying Subarus flagship sedan
We bought the premium Forester. Not a fan of turbos.would rather have the 2.5 non aspirated engine. The legacy is a outback sedan. 40 grand is too much for this car. Would rather spend 40 grand for an ascent. Save some coin if you want a sedan. GET the premium trim level. I love our Forester and I do have a 2018 Impreza. Nice video though.
I have exactly the same car, and i have exactly the same opinion. If i would have to make an advertisement for the Touring XT, would say exactly the same.
The legacy has been Subaru’s sedan that has been trying to appeal to buyers that Subaru’s are more than great all wheel drive cars. Been in a couple. I see their trying to push into the luxury segment, but if I wanted a luxury sedan, and spending over $40,000, I would not buy that car
I would not spend 40 grand for this car. However, I would consider the legacy on a different from level. I do not need a turbo 4. I do like the 2.5. Taking this onto consideration, I just shaved a re grand off the price of the car. Do a review on a different trim level. Not fond of leather, so that knocks off anither bunch of cash
Every car review I watch seems to have a theme about infotainment and HVAC controls. We want knobs, dials and buttons. Why do all the car companies continue to make the hvac stuff buried into a touch panel? We don't want it, and really most don't want a 12" TV on our cars. They're going to fail, and scratch and look aged. Come on, spend the research money on efficiency, power to weight , seat comfort etc... Ugh.
New Subarus kinda make me sad. Gone with the manuals and 3.6s. In with the boring CVT and fake outdoors vibe. Rally and off-road made Subaru great. Now a shell of its former self.
No manual transmission, no sale. But thank god they put a temp gauge back in their cars, maybe their engines will stop blowing up... Like mine did when it overheated without warning.
Hellllll yea!!! Stick or die for me as well! I been daily driving a 6 or 5 speed for 15 plus years and will never everrrrrr sell my soul and go auto. And come onnnnn who needs a temp gauge!? Ahahahha that little red light that comes on after it’s too late is more than enough !! 😂😂😂😂😂

Are you running regular unleaded?

I see the 2 dead buttons as an excellent place to put a button for a train horn

I love my 15 premium. Either this or the 2021 Forester sport for my next one
Thank you so MUCH for not saying “CVT TRANSMISSION”.
Excellent review
Great Video Man!
Nice review
So glad I bought mine sort of on a whim. Lucked out for sure.

I don’t know if you’re American philosopher joke is original or not. But, it was hilarious. Good review thanks.
Car prices are getting to be beyond the reach of most people. The Legacy is nice but not $40k nice.
Subaru cars have looked the same for the past 10 years I LOVE IT !
I forgot to mention….I agree that you do not need the turbo. The 2.5 is all the power you need.
Definitely sold on this car… though I know they come with a white interior which is the one I want!

Looks pretty good
Sorry first thing I would do is remove that Gerald dealer name from the car thakes away from the classy look

That leather looks kind of orange to me. Needs to be darker.
The legacy is an Outback that is made into a sedan same vehicle.
Do you know something that the rest of us don’t re. the Forester getting the 2.4T?

Honestly at that price it is better than anything at that price like bmw 3 series (overvalued piece of junk)
If you want AWD and luxury 40k is cheap. Trust me I have looked. The lease for the XT is very reasonable.

you could go with base model they still offer AWD, and EyeSight safety package with lane centering
The consensus seems to be the best value for the price is the Premium.
I think it's a lot of money for this car
id argue the old subarus were luxurious 93 and older the soft vynal

pretty sure the mazda awd is pretty good and the Acura sh-awd beats Subaru due to non-brake torque vectoring.
New Subarus kinda make me sad. Gone with the manuals and 3.6s. In with the boring CVT and fake outdoors vibe. Rally and off-road made Subaru great. Now a shell of its former self.
And again overinflated tires. Why? Why? Why????
dude your funny as hell
