Nice to see someone enjoying bush who has not going totally crazy with modifications and 35 inch wheels etc. These wagons are pretty affordable now too!
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
For a guy whose 1st language isn't English, his command of the Aussie version is faultless. Accent aside, he's grammatically perfectly Aussie. Just missing a few "bloody" and "yeah mate" 's. Haha. Another great interview and rig.👍
I love this, its more of a budget build, but it seems to have way more thought and planning into the build than a lot of very expensive rigs. Everything is laid out and built in such a way that it is very user friendly and quite modular Well done Charles!
Thats a great 120 Series Prado. The mighty 1grfe v6 engine is so reliable and powerful. I miss my 2005 gxl model. Now Im in a 2003 TD42Ti Nissan Patrol.
I've got a 120 of the Lexus variety, love the 4.7L low end torque. Running Cooper AT/3 LT-C 265/70-17, are a perfect compromise for my intended usage. Not much else done on it currently, next addition will be either sliders and/or onboard air, and then dual battery and roof rack. Great to see a cousin truck on the channel.
The 1KZ and 1KD both have less torque than the 2UZ (1KD has the same as the old 2UZ) not to mention injector problems for the 1KD. I'd have a V8 any day.
The 2UZ you reach 427 Newton meters of torque at 3400 rpm and falls at 3800rpm. With the 1KD engine you reach 420 Newton meters at 1900 rpm and does not fall until 3700 rpm. Besides having 1800km of range is a winner for me.
And the 2UZFE has about 40% more horsepower. Won't do squat for our offroad purposes, but how many of us are truly 100% offroad? Now in traffic that's traveling at 105-120kph have fun passing anybody, that's when your 40% more horsepower comes into play. In your purpose the 1KD is the best choice, but for other people maybe not so much, and that's why there's options. Would I choose the 2UZFE over the other engines if I had a choice?, personally I don't know as I never had the option of a choice of one or the other. I'm glad you love your truck, I love mine. Take Care my LC Brother.
Great mod video. Really gives me a tonne of ideas to do with my prado now. Best part is, most of the mods don't necessarily break the bank which is awesome since I just bought my vehicle and I'm just getting started.
I have a Prado 150 VXL and the first major mod I did on it when I got serious into off roading/ overlanding was to replace the hydraulic suspension system with coil springs; Without a doubt the best mod I have made so far!
so glad to see someone going budget and making me feel relatable, rather than me with my stock prado watching som1 with 80 inch rims and acting like we all should do the same
Have the 04 GX. My wife just drives it around town. The roads suck like in most US towns. No wonder this thing goes over potholes like they are nothing. Should call the road department and tell them to add more. Would keep the traffic down. Amazing in a big snow storm. I. I used the lowest gear and the differential lock before going down a icy hill. I had to hit the gas to get it to move down on ice? Have never had to use “downhill assist”. I am like this guy, mine would be spotless after, if we try any off-road stuff. The only thing I hate is that it is too nice to take off-road. Need to put another 10 years and 150,000 miles on it, then I might have the courage to go off-roading? I feel sorry for it, kind of like keeping a lion for a pet cat. Fun to see what it can do with a couple of mods.
Timely, taking the family Gx470 (prado 120) to moab tomorrow for the weekend. Just replaced my airbags. Mine is stock but Im looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble I can get into with it. Also timely, my friend with a Tacoma just recently found out how crappy those exact circuit breakers are. His died after a year. No continuity across the breaker even closed. if you think the 4.0 is thirsty, try the 4.7 V8.
Nice! Here in the US its known as the Lexus GX with the v8. With the v6 4.0, its the 4Runner Limited. Love seeing these do what they're meant to do. Can only dream of having a properly outfitted Land Cruiser that isnt bloated in size costing $80000+ :(
Nice video, vehicle. Very clean, and well done. Just one thing for others, the combination of 265/70/17 tyres, increases the total lift by 13mm over the max allowed lift of 50mm. Apart from that, I'll get keeping an eye out for this vehicle
There is a variation of that car, a short version 3 door with turboed diesel engine, and one with the engine of old Hilux pickups with less power but still a really good car, almost unbreakable. cheers!
Nice bus was waiting for a prado build.Ive got a 150 diesel I'm decking out now. Actually me my best mate, my Dad, and my 2 cousins all have just started builds on white 150 Prado's . When we get the build we're happy with I will send you some pictures
This was a great vehicle to choose from my perspective. I have a 2006 Toyota 4Runner gas/petrol 4.0. It is basically the same as the Prado 120 but here in North America the Prado 120 is sold as a Lexus GX470. Once mechanical difference: I have the V6 which allows me to have part time 2wd/4wd but if you get the V8 in North America, you must have full time 4wd. I expect only the Prado Grande only forces full time 4wd and that lesser models in Australia have part time 4wd available but that is just my guess, right? I learned a lot about our vehicles on this episode of Modified, thanks!
finally a prado , please do a 150 prado soon, you didn't speak about any of the engine mods if there were any and reliability issues if any ? anyway great video as always !
These engines are very reliable, with mostly forged internals. Good for very high km if looked after. Mine has only got 182000 on it, looking to get 500k min. The only thing is the annoying exhaust leak noise from the factory headers
thats good to know , i actually own a prado 150 with a 4litre v6 , its at 87k, my engine skips revs between 2500-3000 , diagnosis says oxygen sensor is gone so fingers crossed replacing the sensor will solve the issue . planning 15k round trip next year from kenya to southafrica via namibia and back to kenya .
Awesome videos, all the modified cards! A great source for inspiration, but one thing: can you update the playlist with ALL the modified-videos? It's great to have them all in one place, I personally use them to discuss with friends over modifications to do. Once again; awesome channel you have here, I live all the way up in Norway, and have a Geländewagen, and I get a lot of inspiration from here!!
whoooo asian in a Prado, but someone who actually takes their car off road not just for the supermarket rare to see Asians in a 4WD rig! needa make friends with this guy hehe
A new Prado is expensive (>$60k) and retain their value pretty well. It's interesting that this driver has kitted out his 120 with functional and affordable gear - I think most retirees who drive Prados don't consider such cheap gear as suitable for their expensive car. I've found my 150 to be extremely competent in all low range situations and is a great daily driver too. I'd love to see what his Prado looks like when it's stuffed full of camping gear. I don't find I ever have enough space when I add in the family and all our gear.
Very interesting video not sure why I have only just got round to watching given the amount of time I spend watching your other stories (& loving them), I have a 2003 Prado GXL with 339,000km to date, maybe when I get to WA (one day) you can review it, maybe we can go for a trip and click over the 400,000km or 450,000km or even 500,000km :)
Just wondering has anyone done a Mitsy Pajero Sport or thinking of it.? Not a lot of third party stuff around for them yet but they should start soon as the Sports sales are increasing rapidly.
G'day Ronny, I was wondering if you could try and review a 1998-9 year Jeep Cherokee please mate as I'm looking at new mods for it but I wanted to see what other people have done. Cheers Luke

hi guys, thanks for the nice review. can you please let me know where i can go get rated recovery point. i have same car. (2005 prado 120 series 4L v6 petrol gxl). i have genuine toyota bulbar.
Yay finally a Prado! :D I have a 3.0 diesel =) Though, I run 265/70/17 tires as well (BFG AT) but I don't think the tire mount on the back door is changed.. tires were on it when I bought it.
Hey Ronnie what's up then love the videos keep up the good work Hey just a quick request can you please make a video on how to apply that inox 3 After an off road trip to protect your chassis If you can please make one of those videos that would be very much appreciated detailed much love from New York city
Would love to show off my Series 1 Discovery on here, budget built touring camper with loads of custom diy done on it. It might be an interesting car for your viewers. Cheers
Hi there. I have a 2008 prado, diésel, 2 fuel tanks. Would you please explain how this sistem works. Most Prados in Nicaragua (my home country) have only one tank. IT dosnt have tank selector and one fuel gauge so I have no idea wich tank fuel is going or wich one is feeding the motor. Thanks
Nice to see someone enjoying bush who has not going totally crazy with modifications and 35 inch wheels etc. These wagons are pretty affordable now too!
Diesel ones still hold their value pretty well
i got the same one only had 250000 ks for 10000 with lpg as well. 250000 is fuck all for a toyota.
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly lost the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Rodrigo Braden instablaster =)

This is the most satisfying rig build I've seen. Nothing extra but everything you need.
For a guy whose 1st language isn't English, his command of the Aussie version is faultless. Accent aside, he's grammatically perfectly Aussie. Just missing a few "bloody" and "yeah mate" 's. Haha. Another great interview and rig.👍

Well done Charles!
Great interview Ronny, and thanks to Charles for sharing his great car.
Great video, Charles really knows his shit! Good to see how the Prado's can be modified. Cheers Ronny

Not much else done on it currently, next addition will be either sliders and/or onboard air, and then dual battery and roof rack. Great to see a cousin truck on the channel.
The 3.0L deisel is way better than the 4.7 petrol for low end torque and fuel economy off road
The 1KZ and 1KD both have less torque than the 2UZ (1KD has the same as the old 2UZ) not to mention injector problems for the 1KD. I'd have a V8 any day.

In Oz, we havent got the v8 option. 1kz, 1kd, v6 petrol
I really enjoyed watching that Ronny, cheers lads.
Great mod video. Really gives me a tonne of ideas to do with my prado now. Best part is, most of the mods don't necessarily break the bank which is awesome since I just bought my vehicle and I'm just getting started.
Charles, thanks for sharing your Prado...Also, very creative with the double-hinged security door in the back...Mr. Dahl, great as always.
I have a Prado 150 VXL and the first major mod I did on it when I got serious into off roading/ overlanding was to replace the hydraulic suspension system with coil springs; Without a doubt the best mod I have made so far!
I have a 150 Kakadu and take it off road alot, the KDSS gives a lot of flex with upgraded bags and shocks
so glad to see someone going budget and making me feel relatable, rather than me with my stock prado watching som1 with 80 inch rims and acting like we all should do the same
Finally a Prado. I have a 2014 150 series diesel that I am decking out slowly.
Liked the fridge cage build!
Me too
120 Series will go down as one of the all time greats.
Nice mods. The engine light mod is one of my favorites in my LC. That's a good idea with the rear compartment as well. I like the modular shelf unit
Have the 04 GX. My wife just drives it around town. The roads suck like in most US towns. No wonder this thing goes over potholes like they are nothing. Should call the road department and tell them to add more. Would keep the traffic down. Amazing in a big snow storm. I. I used the lowest gear and the differential lock before going down a icy hill. love the traction control system in this, no diff locks needed!

Nice setup. Folding fridge screen is clever.
What a nice Truck
I brought one recently amazing truck I had to put everything factory I brought back the front suspension so the comfort drive works has done 330
This car is amazing!!! In love with mine!!! I will keep it as long as I can!
do you have the petrol
@@kaneoconnor7635 no, diesel one.
Nice video, vehicle. Very clean, and well done.
Just one thing for others, the combination of 265/70/17 tyres, increases the total lift by 13mm over the max allowed lift of 50mm.
Apart from that, I'll get keeping an eye out for this vehicle
Its 50mm via suspension and 25mm via tyres allowed lift, in Victoria.
Nice setup. Some of the things done are very smart :)
Charles is an ideas man, very clever and low cost DIY mods
For us Americans, we also got the 120 Prado in the form of the Lexus GX470.
When we get the build we're happy with I will send you some pictures
you wont be disappointed mate my 150 with diff lock goes everywhere

We need more regular family SUV like prado, Pajero etc and see what's possible
But families are turning dual cabs
Agreed but a few of these won’t hurt given they have a better ride quality than utes.
Thanks Ronny and Charles. Awesome vehicle
Hey Ronny mate, not sure if you'll see this but would love to see a Modified Episode on a new Suzuki Jimny!
finally a prado , please do a 150 prado soon, you didn't speak about any of the engine mods if there were any and reliability issues if any ? anyway great video as always !
They are pretty relaible as a motor to answer your question, I've had the same motor before. I have a 150 lined up for a shoot
These engines are very reliable, with mostly forged internals. Good for very high km if looked after. Mine has only got 182000 on it, looking to get 500k min.

his only engine mod is a K & N air filter, and a better performing muffler done after this was recorded
Yay a prado
Awesome, love the petrol ones who cares about economy..
Never thought Id see a Prado reviewed here, Very Keen to See the 150 Review
Charles is a smart guy.
Awesome videos, all the modified cards! A great source for inspiration, but one thing: can you update the playlist with ALL the modified-videos? It's great to have them all in one place, I personally use them to discuss with friends over modifications to do.

Very nice rig with some great ideas
Nice work boys.
Very informative.

Great video, and some terrific mods to the Prado, well done!
Thanks Charles for sharing for truck very insightful!
Chuck looks like fun to tour with
thanks for the advice, was considering a grande but now know to stay away since it’s a likely failure point!
Ronny I’ve commented this on other video’s unsure if you’ve seen 5hem, but can u do a review on a Mitsubishi delica L300?
+Canadian S-chassis for sure mate just need to find one
well sorted Prado, well done Charles.
Was this guy an auto sparky of some sort? Because his electrics were very tidy.
That front locker too. I need one.
most auto sparky's are average got to do it yourself if you wont it done right
Epic!!! Great video, thank you gents!:)
Wow this is a fantastic job, everything is thought of but goodness the Prado is a thirsty beast :o
Nice setup, very practical.
Top Vehicle mate and Nice Vid
Very interesting video not sure why I have only just got round to watching given the amount of time I spend watching your other stories (& loving them), I have a 2003 Prado GXL with 339,000km to date, maybe when I get to WA (one day) you can review it, maybe we can go for a trip and click over the 400,000km or 450,000km or even 500,000km :)
I know they aren’t common tourers but if you could find an ln106 Hilux (1989-1997) that would be awesome
I second that, I don't think mine is tough enough to be featured haha
I’m building one at the moment. She’s a while off ready yet though
Just wondering has anyone done a Mitsy Pajero Sport or thinking of it.? Not a lot of third party stuff around for them yet but they should start soon as the Sports sales are increasing rapidly.

I noticed that the bill at was separating from the fenders when wheels were lifting off. Any know if that is normal??
Noticed this too and I'm surprised that I had to scroll down all the way to see you mentioning it. That doesn't look normal to me (at all)

Yay finally a Prado! :D I have a 3.0 diesel =)
Though, I run 265/70/17 tires as well (BFG AT) but I don't think the tire mount on the back door is changed.. tires were on it when I bought it.
Sounds like it's brought not built
Hi Ronny! Love your vids. Keep them coming. Can i please request to showcase a modified Toyota Fortuner 4L V6. THANKS!!!
from South Africa
Hello, great video. Where can I buy the Toyota Sovereign Bullbar?
Ronny could you feature a Disco 2 on the channel, Thanks
Love it mate very good rig
How did you get the Toyota winch cradle? Toyota say they are discontinued?
Ronny do you have any plans for a modified on an Amarok? Seems like they are fairly popular in Aus and loads of buzz about them in the UK too.
Hey Ronnie what's up then love the videos keep up the good work Hey just a quick request can you please make a video on how to apply that inox 3 After an off road trip to protect your chassis If you can please make one of those videos that would be very much appreciated detailed much love from New York city
Hi Ronnie, I’m from SouthvAftica. I’d like to know the name of the front number n where can u purchase it pls.
Hey Ronny, are you going to do an NP300 anytime soon? I have had one for a bit and looking for some ideas.
Love to see a New shape (05 or newer) Suzuki grand vitara.
Good to finally see a Prado! Any plans for a 90 series at all?
yep there is a 90 Prado coming in near future
Great video, any chance you got any 03-09 4runners overthere?
Would love to show off my Series 1 Discovery on here, budget built touring camper with loads of custom diy done on it. It might be an interesting car for your viewers. Cheers
My kind of4*4 vehicle.

It was nice Chatting to you last night Ronny
cheers John was great to chat to all of you, look forward to the next hangout :D
I'd love to see if it hasn't already been done yet an Isuzu Dmax. I seen one in the south west of Aus we I live and it looked pretty aswome
Go the mighty prado
Thanks
Its all automated. Just fill it up and drive, car sorts itself out. If it's broken you'll know.
Can not wait for the D22 to come out
+Assertive Lemon soon mate soon :)
thanks for putting great stuff. Please put some diesel version too and mods on engine
Would be great to get in touch with this owner to discuss his mods, I'm looking at starting modifications to my stock prado.
sammyc2223 search Prado Point on the web. Heaps of great info there
Awesome
Does it have traction control?
You guys didn't talk about the snorkel!!!
also Ronny, How many Km's did it have on it?
cheers
Wooow! Prado best car🚘
Hello is this car for sale?
Was the G400 CDI ever sold in Australia? I’d love to see one of those
