Bailey Zappe was a late draft pick for the New England Patriots and had to step into the starting role once Mac Jones was doing horrible. He led them to a pair of wins but didn’t get to keep the starting role

The kid just looks soooo calm in the pocket. He does have potential to be a starter.

Gotta see Zappe with a solid offensive line and against legit opponents. Kinda unfair to compare him to Mac last season when Mac played all the difficult teams and the majority of the season on a bad ankle. Mac also clearly has a coaching staff who wanted to put him in his place, and discipline the shit out of him because of his outspoken nature against Patricia and Judge and their offense, so when Zappe’s number was called, they called plays much differently and those plays WORKED! Sprinkled with DON’T 50/50 balls and some amazing luck.
Let’s not forget the like 10 balls batted down (exaggeration but still probably close to ten) at the line of scrimmage!!! That shit would get super damn old if Bailey couldn’t manage it or find a way to sneak around the line. Which would inevitably lead Zappe into more sacks than an average height QB, more injury prone, and he would be very predictable very often.

We should've started zappe a long time ago, I think he has got some good talent, looks very calm in the pocket and he really proved himself in that game against the steelers

He seems so calm. Mac gets stressed out and checks down behind the line of scrimmage to the rbs so much.
Dude, if this guy plays with Juju, Parker, Henry and Bourne....the Pats just might get better. Not to mention BOB is coming back as coordinator.

There is something there, it's undeniable.
I mean.. Any highlight reel will make the most average guy, especially NFL guy, look good.

Here’s the thing. I’m not gonna count max out yet. Last year I did. Mac now has an actual coordinator. If mac still is stressed and only looks for one read and is as ass as he was last year. ZAPPE BETTER FUCKING PLAY

As a Patriots fan I agree. I hate hearing the excuses being made for Mac Jones. Literally Zappe was in the same situation with the crap offensive coordinators yet still did better in the same situation. That alone should say something about who he is and what he’s capable of, let alone the intangibles and work ethic he is.

This is what a backup highlight reel looks like ppl. A few lucky forced receptions that easily could have been picked or knocked away, and then a bunch of wide-open receivers. Zapps could be a real nice competent backup for ANY pocket passer offense, the problem being he tends to play like a gunslinger packing a peashooter. No pocket passer team would ever complain about having Zappe backup their starter, but if ppl think Zappe is the answer...😂. Then get used to .500 seasons. At least we know that Mac (as a rookie, and with actual Offensive coaches) helped get NE to the playoffs. If you don't think Mac is the answer, I'm not exactly in disagreement. Yet if you want to sit a healthy Mac for a smaller QB with a weaker arm, your going to need a helluva lot better argument than every good play made by Zappe his rookie yr. Don't get me wrong the kid is a great backup, but he hasn't showed anything yet that's screamed I want HIM instead of Mac. Great work on the vid though 808👍

People fall in love with backups, especially rookies, a lot in football. Opponents haven't had a chance to scout them out, there's less pressure, lower stakes, so people don't mind as much when a backup messes up because hey, they're a backup. People will be up in arms about Zappe getting cut, but Mac is clearly the QB1

@@ashleygarcia8095 You don't know that. Belichick said that everyone will get a chance to play. The locker room was split between Jones and Zappe according to Devin McCourty. Two of the biggest Jones supporters in Meyers and Harris are on different teams now. The coach who Mac hates in Joe Judge is now a assistant coach on the Patriots. So if you acknowledge all this you can't say Zappe doesn't have a chance. Zappe will outperform Jones in training camp and in the preseason games to win QB1.
