@@laminage Yes, They were both such fine women, even though in different circumstances. S Epatha Merkerson is one the the very best actors I have ever known. I wish we could se more of her work.
Also can you imagine if The Social Workers were there when this happened, they would have taken Ruben out of there in a heartbeat and he may have lived with a Family who cared more about getting money for his upkeep than him.
This is one of my most favorite movies ! The actors were all phenomenal and I don't have the words for the skills of S. Epatha Merkerson! Wow. And I love that this is Ruben Santiago- Hudson's story. Just wonderful!!!! RIP Thomas Jefferson Byrd.
Yes, on China Beach Colleen McMurphy was a "Mess" after returning from Vietnam. She became an Alcoholic, she drifted from one place to another, she got depressed but finally got help. The most touching was when she went to The Memorial Wall in Washington, DC and saw the names of the Men & Women who served.
My best friend who’s black & Vietnamese says she’s devastated about the war & how it affected so many of our black soldiers. Her & I weren’t born yet during those days but it still devastates her a lot
This is one of the greatest works of art I have ever seen the black experience in Amerikkka how we keep keeping on despite being in the belly of the beast
Man that's Saul Williams. Dude is brilliant. It's really kind of a shame how we wasted his mind. We're more like Bill and he's more like keys than I care to admit.
I loved the scene where that rich lady took care of Nanny and made her comfortable...she knew how hard Nanny worked.
Yes ma'am
That was touching.
That was Laura's Mother and Grandmother to Laura's Two Children. She knew where it not for Nanny, Laura could have been another Statistic.

Beautiful. 😍😍
I feel bad for what Vietnam did to our soldiers 😢
They go through so much. 😥😥
My dad was one and all he wanted to do was rest, but he kept working until he knew I was fine.

Battle neurosis. Poor fella. Nanny handled this beautifully. Such a gorgeously brutal representation of this. Outstanding directing and acting.

Most incredible movie.
I had to look for my keys not too long ago and felt just like him for a minute.
Saul Williams killed that scene.
Absolutely ❤❤❤
I think that Lonnie had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that was only diagnosed in the 1980's like Agent Orange.
laminage it's sad what war does to people
He did. It's so sad what war can do to someone

I'm pretty sure that's why you heard the revolution voice get louder and louder
Lonnie got a hold to that napalm in Vietnam, like Reuben said in the movie, he went to Vietnam, only half of him came back!
I'm sorry but if I were Nanny I would say to Lonnie's people, he can't come over anymore, he scares my boarders and I need them to make my living.
I do love this movie it’s one of my favorite.
Girl me too...!!!!
