It was confirmed by the writers that Sokka and Suki got married in their 40s. The reason why it was late is because they had a long distance relationship in the comics because Sokka of course was mainly with Aang and Katara and Suki was in the fire nation as Zukos bodyguard. This isn’t really a spoiler because we don’t learn that much about Sokka and Suki in this show, which makes sense because it’s about kora. Thought I’d say something so ur not confused. Btw if you want to learn more about the gaangs lives after the war, read the next 6 books. I believe Zukos the main focus of 2 of them, Aang 1, Katara 1, Toph 1, and Suki 1. Sorry Sokka 😂
A detail a lot of people missed is naming easter eggs of Aang and Katara's children. Obviously you caught that they named one child Bumi, after Aang's friend. Kya is named after Katara's mother. Tenzin shares a connection with Monk Gyatso, both characters being named after the real life dalai lama, Tenzin Gyatso.
18:30 about that, there will actually be a movie coming in early 2026 about the events of what happened in between ATLA and TLOK. It's about the original Gaang in their young adult years. I also recommend checking out the comics for more clarity on that too!
This show is so amazing. Both Avatar and Korra are masterpieces in my eyes. Korras character growth in this show is amazing, and she really resonates with me. In a lot of ways I find her very relatable. She's not like most Avatars who travelled the world. She was stuck in a compound her entire life barely allowed to leave. I mean she pretty much had to beg just to take Naga out for a stroll. There is so much I want to say but i hope you enjoy.
There were multiple comics set between the two shows that expand on the setting. One of them explained why the Fire Nation colonies would turn into the United Republic and why the Air Acolytes formed.
There's a pretty dark and scary reason the white lotus has Korra so heavily guarded. But not to fear, all answers will come in due time :) Korra is actually an amazing show. Don't let the haters deter you
I'm glad you immediately picked up the differences between Korra and Aang, Korra WANTS to be the Avatar, she needs it; Aang feared the responsibility, this is important for future episodes
I think the main reason they decided to have Korra know three elements right off the bat is because we saw Aang train those elements in Avatar the Last Airbender and of course we didn't see his airbending training because he was already a master airbender & he had nobody else to train with anyway to sharpen his skills.
There are comics set after ATLA that explore the fallout of the war, the beginnings of what one day will be Republic City, and the search for Zuko's mom.
And we already have J. K. Simmons as Tenzin, and Steve Blum (Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop) as Amon. And don't forget Henry Rollins as one of the best characters in the show
i love Legend of Korra so much. the two shows have a lot in common but a lot that is different on purpose. there’s a lot of cool stuff and love put into this show. hope you enjoy it!
we do get some flashbacks throughout the show but there are also comics, books, and future movies, etc coming. i believe that anything you need to know is explained in here as to wanting to know maybe not
The problem is had when i first watched korra was not wait long enough to detach myself from all the characters there, yes there are going to be characters we will see again or have them be mentioned but it isnt the same as seeing them everytime. After about 2 weeks for me when i settled and understood this is almost a new show with new characters, thats where you will enjoy this show a ton and its also such a great show
When this came out a lot of people didn't like how "advanced" everything was. But you have to remember 70 ish years happened between the 2 series that's like the difference between 1880 to 1950 IRL so it really shouldn't have been that much hate over it.
The Fire Nation was heavily industrialized in ATLA, it's just that their industry was like 95% military. It stands to reason that once the war was over and the Nations reconciled and shared knowledge and technology, there would be a technological leap.
@@pabloc8808this was in the comics ‘north and south’. After the war, Earth kingdom and fire nation architects starting building infrastructure all over the world. Starting with the colonies (republic city) and the southern water tribe.
I think there's another series in the works for the next avatar after Korra, yes, with modern technology. So we may see what the role of the avatar would be in a technologically modern world. There will probably be major evolution to bending. You've already seen metal bending, sand bending, blood bending.... even Korra has some new subbending, who knows what the next avatar will bring!
If ya wanna know Face stealer’s mom gave her a new face n took her memories to help hide from Ozai. She was able to go back home and marry the man she actually loved and she had another kid. (Her marriage to Ozai was basically forced) After that Zuko invited his mom, younger sister and step dad to the palace. If more stuff happened, im not aware of it lol.
"I would think most avatar don't" actually most avatars do, that's why they only know they're the avatar starting with their 16th birthday. Aang was an exception because of the looming war and Korra is another exception because she just discovered it on her own. But most of the time they locate the avatar like they did Korra but they don't tell the child they're the avatar so that they can have a normal childhood. "everybody related to everybody" Republic City is the pet project of Aang and Zuko, basically their crown jewel. So yeah almost everyone in the Gaang had a part in it and had an important role so their children followed in their footsteps. Aang helped found Republic city so Tenzin is a councilor, You saw Toph's statue outside the police station therefore Lin is chief of police. "Foul, I... think" might be my favourite joke in the entire show. "I guess she's just used to using multiple elements" I think a larger issue that that is the lack of freedom in the game. Korra is used to be able to move anywhere and attack at any angle. Considering pro bending limits the amount of element you can use well below Korra's average power she isn't use to that amount of power either. But yeah, having pre-established strategies to counter certain moves based on an element and suddenly not having the right to use that element probably messes up her rhythm too.
A few people have issues with Korra bending 3 elements as a child but it really shouldn’t be that surprising because given Korra’s personality which element do you think she would’ve started bending first? From there it would’ve only taken some experimenting to discover she can bend the others.
read the comics if you want to learn about Zuko's mom. It was weird to for them to include that in the first episode, hey remember this thing we mentioned briefly at the end of the other show? yeah you're not going to learn about it in this one either.
Korra is mostly the Avatars’ reincarnation but her firebender side is definitely the reincarnation of the firebender Zuko was, who died on ATLA Book 3 Episode 13.
Regarding Zuko’s mom, It won’t be explained in korra but if you don’t want to read the comics and just want that answer then Reddit is your friend with a summarized version 😂 there’s no spoilers for the Korra if you find out
We actually see what happened to Fire lord Zuko's mother in the comics i suggest a read! Also, Aangs children are named after: Bumi- kIng bumi Tenzin- Tenzin Gyatso Kya- Katara's mother
Well Korra was made supposing all fans already read the comics. So a loooot of things about the world kf Korra is explained in the comics. Like the tensions to reclaim earth kingdom territory, how aang and Zuko founded Republic city, it shows what happened to Zuko's mom, what happened to Azula, how toph created her metal bending school, etc. If you wanna enjoy even more avatar verse, you must read books from Kyoshi's novels and Yangchen's novel
Aang & Katara's other kids Kya and Bumi were born a water-bender and non-bender respectively. Unfortunately, Aang left the burden of being the last air-bender on Tenzin's shoulders. It's likely a contributing factor to why Tenzin has 3 (going on 4) kids, to make more air-benders. I'm sure he loves his wife Pema, but it is beneficial that she's a non-bender, it's 50-50 if the child will be born an air-bender or non-bender. He got lucky that all 3 kids so far were born air-benders. If Pema were a bender (fire, for example) then the chances of the children being air-benders would be diminished, there would be a 33% chance of air, 33% chance of fire, 33% chance of no bending... which is exactly what happened with Aang and Katara's kids, each got a different slice of the bending pie, and Bumi drew the short stick. Kinda like Mako and Bolin too, born from the union of a fire-bender and an earth-bender, each got one element, but could have just as easily been born with no element.
