Thanks for very professional demonstration. Love your 3 nails per side with one hole gab between them. Using your way of positìoning the nails i have yet to loose a shoe in racing. Touch wood.🤣😂
From the States.. Great job. Wish I could spend a month with you to improve my skills.. I'm in a dead area.. Meaning not a lot of good farriers around for a long way, so i read and study a good bit.. But nothing like hands on with a Master.. Thanks for sharing.. Hat's off to you.. Cody
Hi Cody, thank you very much. If you don't already know I have a free podcast called 'The Hoof of the Horse' on farriery with other farriers from around the world. 37 episodes so far. I hope it is helpful to you: soundcloud.com/hoofofthehorsepodcast/sets/the-hoof-of-the-horse-podcast
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Salvatore Alexander i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I have a question! What does a typical thoroughbred good look like? Can you give me a pic? If you have a barefoot thoroughbred my question is how I should trim them? I need comparison with other hoof types to know how they should look in natural state.
I can remember some differences in the shoes used when I was a kid... early 80's. One of them was thicker, like a triangular piece at the heel. I can't remember why the farrier used it.
Honestly, the hardest part for me is learning to cold-shape a shoe and some sloppiness on using nippers and making it look jagged. Shoe-fit seems to be the most controversial out here in California. Square vs round trend as well. Also, a complete pathology protocol would be AMAZING! Like a really fast overview, " signs for laminitis+this+this kind of shoe", see here it is hard to apprentice because they see you as competition or they can't make money off your back. But if we already had a huge idea and at least the idea, farriers are more likely to take you on. I speak Spanish too, so I get a lot of shit from both sides and have been blessed to get this far. Farrier schools here say you are a pro in 6 to 8 weeks, causing cockiness and a lof of bad apprentices or farriers in general. You ALWAYS hers about bad farriers out here, my idol( worked 10 years for one of the best equine vets out here) I heard just lamed 19 horses, the people that told me are a training couple from the UK with 60 yeara in horses and famous trainers. Point being we do not learn this stuff in the school and nobody is willing to really give away their money-making secrets.
Thanks for explaining the difference between shoeing and plating
Beautiful frogs, I love that you didn't cut any sole. Those are gorgeous, open heels for a TB

Good stuff, but aren't the little bit of nipped off nails on the horse's stall floor?

@@DrSimonCurtis Thank you! Now I will go have fun looking that up😄
Beautiful Horse shoeng
I am apprentice just finishing up my apprenticeship. Any plans of a complete beginner how-to?
Possibly! What do you think you would find most helpful for me to focus on?
