A famous incident set up by a reporter. ruclips.net/video/hnOPu0_YWhw/видео.html But to be fair people need to focus on what's important in their life. We all can't be old men with too much time on their hands😉 But praise be to Raoul & others who provide us with this wonderful treat. I would've probably never heard of Shaye & company without them. I live in Austin & hope to go see them on Royal Street one day.
why does everyone think that passers -by have to be jiggin about as they pass by? New Orleans residents have to work and go bout their daily tasks for their daily bread. If you vacationing and nothing on your mind except Tuba Skinny then you maybe having a unique entertainment. But if you by-pass daily and your baby crying or your feet pain or Auntie Maybel having another heart attack.........see there are precedents........enjoy YOURSELF
I may be in error, but I believe that this is a Louis Armstrong tune and Shaye plays it beautifully, with delicacy, power, and confidence. I am very impressed!
They are a co-operative band; but yes, there is no doubt who the leader. All fine musicians and she is a master musician - third generation jazz musician.
Greetings and thanks for this great upload from Amsterdam, the Dutch would love you to play in their great city, there are several top spots around the centre, where the crowds would stand up to two hundred people in a horse shoe shape to listen to these great arrangements. I played in a hot club string quartet for two years every single day on the Leidseplein, or the Vondelpark, and in the springtime, the crowds are very generous too. There is nothing better than live acoustic music on the streets, to make you happy. Keep up the great work Tuba Skinny, we love you.
Man everyone of them getting tighter every time I listen to a new song, AMAZING.. Dayam.. LOVE THESE GUYS, I hit the gym playing them daily! They give me extra energy to do the extra rep on the weights and go the extra mile on the bike!
I'd love to visit New Orleans and see these fine folks live. There's still time but, until then, I'll keep loving the uploads to RUclips. Thank you for posting Tuba Skinny's music, Mr. Duke, it's uplifting stuff.
Kids daddy always said "Rhythm is not linear. Instead it's full of shapes and colors." Check out this cat on the Washboard carving out the hell out of his instrument...
Aren't they just SUPERB?! Having played many dozens of gigs al F. I can state how difficult it is to rise to Skinny's heights. These geezers are tops. Brilliant!!!
You guys sound better as time goes by. This is one of the more musically complex songs I recall you playing. Well done. One of these days I hope to get back home to hear you in person.
The guy at 3:08, he's got the rythm! Apart from this guy, as other have said how people can walk past TS wothout either stopping or bouncing along beats me.
I'm already a total addict. Came across they music a year or so ago and THAT WAS IT. Wonderful...but when are they going to do a a few sessions in Engand? We're desperate to stomp with them.
"All we need now is some weather that’s not so unbearably hot." Is there any other kind of weather in New Orleans? The stories I've heard about bugs...
Yes .... Robin, in addition to filling out that terrific rhythm section, is so creative and thoroughly musical .. that's why Shaye keeps weaving him into tunes.
In all fairness, they’re really good together and I guess that’s where the musical magic is born. I’ve always had a thing for the odd instruments like the cuíca in Brazilian music and the güiro in cumbia (and other Latin music).
@@vondahe ' .. really good together and I guess that’s where the musical magic is born' - for sure ! (I play a little washboard myself .. Robin has been helpful and encouraging)
A friend went to N.O last year and dismissed bands like this wonderful outfit as "touristy". WTF cares?? If I, as a jazz musician (or indeed, anyone from anywhere) happen to be visiting N.O .. and while out and about, catch this band performing........ Should we shoot ourselves? Or shuffle sheepishly along.. Rather than enjoy some brilliant music which might just be "touristy" ?
There certainly are some bands playing in some New Orleans clubs that are "touristy" and a little bit corny ....but Tuba Skinny is a ground breaking band with a massive repertoire of originally arranged songs. Bix used to criticize some white jazz bands of his time as "corny" (ie touristy). I think Bix would have loved Tuba Skinny.
I will never understand people who are so immersed in those daily little messes they call their lives that they just walk on by completely oblivious to the fantastic talent here. On another note (I have said this before and I'll say it again) Shay Cohn, even though I am 86, "will you marry me?????!!!!!!!

What a great arrangement - and not a weak player in the bunch! They keep getting better and better.
I've never understood how people could walk by these wonderful musicians and not start tapping their feet!
VicAmor Same here! I guess some people just don't feel the rhythm.
"I see dead people" hehehe...

A superb rendition of Armstrong's 'Beau Koo Jack'! A very 'technical' piece of music that they handled with skill. Loved it!
Amazing - I'm tapping and danci'n in north of England in the cold - love Tuba S.
Same here.
North Yorkshire, it's March 2020, still wet, cold and blowin' a gale, but Tuba Skinny is such a wonderful antidote...

Louis Armstrong , right - arrangement alex Hill 1928
HOT JAZZ AT ITS VERY BEST. SUCH DISCIPLINE AND SYNCHOPATION.. AN AMAZING GROUP
They seem to get better and better, and they play with such feeling, bravo.
never any doubt about who's leading the band..but she';s always so cool and on top of it... Wow !
They are a co-operative band; but yes, there is no doubt who the leader. All fine musicians and she is a master musician - third generation jazz musician.
Very well rehearsed, very well played. Shaye Cohn: Oh, "them there eyes" peeking out from under her hat ....
John Roberts she is adorable and brilliant
this kind of music makes my day !

Tuba Skinny home again and you can clearly hear and feel how happy they are (and me too) when you listen to this fantastic music!😁
Shaye always wear's the nicest clothes. Cute and elegant. (great quality upload BTW)
Man everyone of them getting tighter every time I listen to a new song, AMAZING.. Dayam.. LOVE THESE GUYS, I hit the gym playing them daily! They give me extra energy to do the extra rep on the weights and go the extra mile on the bike!
Brilliant. Shaye's cornet has never sounded better.
Shaye te amo, maravillosa mujer.
Great song, guys. Shaye, that was one of my favorite 'solos' that I've heard you do. I always love it when you do these.
Glad I found these amazingly talented folks. They make me happy.
This demonstrates the value of an outstanding washboard player.
perfect and great as usual. Congratulation
Fun to see the guy passing the band alter his walk to keep in time.
Dat man robin!
Amazing music!! I love it!!! Congratulations people!!!
Wow! They are in great form. Must be happy to be back home.
Firing on all cylinders!
Loved the guy walking past at about 3:05!!
SAME! If I absolutely *had* to be somewhere and couldn't stop to enjoy, _that_ is me walking by...
I liked the redhead with the big....
No question - they made his day

Brilliant again, as always YES...
Kids daddy always said "Rhythm is not linear. Instead it's full of shapes and colors." Check out this cat on the Washboard carving out the hell out of his instrument...
They had fabulous TALENT, that is what is missing now. It is thought these days that filthy language is talent.
Aren't they just SUPERB?! Having played many dozens of gigs al F. I can state how difficult it is to rise to Skinny's heights. These geezers are tops. Brilliant!!!
Shaye has never played a better horn. 😎
Super. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you RaoulDuke504. I am very happy that Jason Lawrence has returned to the group.
Back in the day during my Vietnam tour in country I learned my first French word: book as the GIs used to say.
Good job RaoulDuke504. The clarity of the sound was sharp. All instruments could be heard. Thx again! 👍😎
That's ah niiiiiiiiiiiice work on that there washboard.
I love that tune.
Chaapeau! ...for TS .... the way they play this kind of very difficult tunes of the early Louis Armstrong period.
There is just one thing that would attract me to the US from Brexit Britain and that would be this unique band of virtuoso musicians.
Bien le bonjour à vous tous " Tuba Skinny", hello de France..
You guys sound better as time goes by. This is one of the more musically complex songs I recall you playing. Well done. One of these days I hope to get back home to hear you in person.
Amazing song / performance! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful!
Great sounds Raoul great job once again.
Living in New Orleans must be like being in a Busby Berkley number; everyone moves on the beat.
The guy at 3:08, he's got the rythm! Apart from this guy, as other have said how people can walk past TS wothout either stopping or bouncing along beats me.
Superb 🔝🎉👌
Can't wait to see them in October! Another great video sir. Thank you.
fantastic just fantastic, they should me millionaires each
Very good ,l dance. .
Where's the Leah singer ? She ok ? Love yall's music !
I want to go to new orleans just to see tuba skinny!
I'm already a total addict. Came across they music a year or so ago and THAT WAS IT. Wonderful...but when are they going to do a a few sessions in Engand? We're desperate to stomp with them.
Come to Milwaukee!!

Best of the best!
Several members of Tuba Skinny can sing including Shaye and Robin. I guess this is what they want.
🔥 🔥 🔥
Shaye's new horn?
That's a lot, Jim ! (a.k.a. "Beaucoup, Jacques!")
Armstrong named the song Beaucoup Jack which means "a lot of money". "Jack" is an American slang word for money.
Excellent! (although the washboard seemed a little flat ; - ) - j q t -
I know I don't stand a chance, but I love me some Shaye!!!
So what happened to Erika Lewis??
where is erika?
Visiting NOLA in November. Does TS have a usual time they play in the quarter?
Sometime between 11am-4pm, where part of Royal St. is pedestrian only. On Mondays and Fridays.
Where did Erika go and what is she doing now
I love you all. But where's Erika?
I really think the washboard guy gets way too little credit for his contribution to the music.
Yes .... Robin, in addition to filling out that terrific rhythm section, is so creative and thoroughly musical .. that's why Shaye keeps weaving him into tunes.
