Hi mate I don't think we've ever caught a Garrick before? They look just like what we call a Queenfish (maybe it's the same fish) and if so you're talking Queenies they hit ANYTHING! They love a slow tweaked SXR14 just as much as a high-speed metal. They hit poppers, stick baits and soft plastics so you could prolly throw a banana in there and hook up! But if you really really wanted to hook up instead of your mates I'd throw a small diver like an SXR14 or even smaller like a 30g or 40g SO-Run. If you have a mate throwing a surface lure he can bring em in and you can swoop in with the little diver for the hookup!
@Morningtide Fishing nah lads, they looks very similiar body and colors but total different head and mouth, moreover queenfish is an indo pacific specie instead garrick is an Atlantic and Mediterranean fish.
Jonny was only there for about a week, this is just some extra footage from that trip. We're going to go on one of our normal Aussie Island trips soon but winter is a bit of a weird time for fishing in Aus. Still gunna give it a go and we're bringing over Ryota (crazy Japanese man from the NZ trip) he's never hooked GT, Tuna or Mackerel before!
GT taste amazing under about 10kg but the big fellas like these aren't as nice, also they're regarded as a sport fish and for most GT anglers the goal is always Catch and Release. For us personally, if a fish is injured and won't swim off we eat it, if it's healthy we set it free. With that in mind, there are fish on every trip that come in Injured (hooked badly, bleeding too much or bitten in half by a shark) and we always eat that meat. We're only just realising that you guys are keen to see that side of our trips, so in future when we keep a fish we'll film eating it as well.

We got some cool footage on this one, with a focus on some camping/lifestyle stuff as well as the fishing. Mid-late August should have it done!
