I never got into the Ultima games, but it looks awesome! Briley actually made me want to play CRPGs. So maybe I will give this a try...? The music is amazing.
OMG this looks amazing. Ultima IV on C64 is my all time favorite game. You looked to really have captured the vibe. Plus based on the Briley games I’m sure the story will be great. Cant wait!
Wonderful atmosphere - I wish we had a time machine and could pop back to the mid-80s - your work would likely explode. Here's hoping the retro revival keeps ticking over, I'm sure you'll find a small market for the game.
Looking good! I like the little touches like floating damage values in combat. (I originally didn't have that in RoA, but testers insisted and they were right.)
Really nice color selections for the tiles. Also the apparent use of sprites in the combat sequence is a cool touch! The carved bubble effect for line-of-sight or fog-of-war is really interesting. Are you rendering the screen as a bitmap and carving/masking out the darkness? Or is this a character tile effect?
I love it! The dungeon music is haunting and the battle music is really cool. I can't wait to play it on my MiSTer. Will it have controller / joystick support or do you want it to remain traditional and require a keyboard?
great looking game. one question if you don't mind, for Line of sight blocking, in the world map, are you precalculating the LOS at every cell in a bit array and then merging everything in real time?
The LOS is generated on the fly. It's not actually that hard once you know how. I mention it in a blog post: sarahjaneavory.wordpress.com/2024/10/21/new-rpg-update-21-10-2024/
Will there be a map feature built into the game, Sarah? Or will you be able to purchase maps? Blank maps that fill as you go? I know you are hugely limited on space! 😭

Looking and sounding real quality. Getting Ultima IV vibes from this, especially with the variable visibility.

This looks awesome, and very atmospheric! Ultima style gameplay with multiple party members and line of sight tracking? Yes please!
Looks great . Fantastic soundtrack. Player animations would be a nice touch, especially in battle, but also for the main character when moving.
Amazing! I love the attention to detail and the eerie atmosphere.
I love the attention to detail. Like the use of a candle over a torch. More realistic.

The game uses a hires bitmap screen.
Looking good
Love it. One more reason for me to get a real 64 :)

At the moment, it's traditional Ultima style, being keyboard only. I could look at joystick control as I did that for Briley Witch Chronicles.
Wonderful
Dat music tho!
thanks, it's such a pleasure to work together with Sara h

looks amazing and very similar to good old rpgs like phantasie. wai dont the person with a bow attack with range attacks tho?
@Elrinth Ranged attacks are next on my to-do list, along with magic spells.
