This is true. I'm in my mid 50's now. My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

If you're living until 82, that only going to give a person about $2800 per month to live on. For those who say, "retire early because life isn't guaranteed" had better have at least a half a million in investments or they will run out of money at 75. I predict that 65 to 67 will be the sweet spot age to retire in the future.

I had very little faith in our government, now I have none. I had four family members, who passed away because of accident or illness, before they could collect social security. One of my nieces was able to collect on her father's social security when he died, until she was 18. I came to realize that all of the extra money left from people who die before they collect, sure as hell, is not being put back towards social security. Our government is reassigning that money and wasting it on their own personal greed.
you misunderstand the way SS works. We were all told it was a 'retirement fund' for us and what we put in is what we are entitled to.. but that is a big lie. The way it works is Socialism. the people working are paying for those that are not working, whether it is Social Security, Disability or welfare. The amount of money people are getting in their Social Security is a hell of a lot more than they ever contributed, and that’s why Social Security is unsustainable. People may have earned their leisure but the governments having to pick up the tab. you look at how much they took out of your check for Social Security and Medicare and how much people are withdrawing from Medicare and Social Security like I said before it’s just not sustainable and the government knows it.

Agreed, the role of advisors can only be overlooked, but not denied. I remember in early 2020, during covid-outbreak, my portfolio worth around 300k took a slight fall, apparently due to the pandemic crash, at once I consulted an advisor in order to avoid panic-selling. That was my parents. They saved Millions and left it to my sister and I as a trust. Didn't take many vacations after they retired due to health. One of the last trips they made was to Branson, Mo. It is important to understand that a majority of people out there have been trained from birth including me to spend and consume. To follow the approved vision of what life is supposed to be. Spend, consume, put it on a credit card, buy new cars, get a 30 year mortgage, pay monthly utility bills, keep up the neighbors, fall for product commercials and work your ass off to keep up. People need to wake up and realize if you remove yourself from the system, think outside the box of what a house looks like, how it's insulated, look at technologies like thermal heating/cooling, install a mini-hydro turbine to generate your own power, control impulse buying, buy land rather than live in some rat maze subdivision, grow your own food, produce your own energy, you will live a much happier life, actually accomplish things and realize you don't need near as much money as you do living in the system. The system is designed to entice people to spend and consume.
Even buying land doesn't give you an exclusive right to possess it. Try not paying your rates for one year then see who "owns" your land. The state gets everything even though you poured your money into it.

I'm willing to pay 20 dollars a month to live on my homestead, I'm not willing to spend 400 a month plus a mortgage and utilities to live on 1/10 of an acre in the city.
I own land. Septic system will be $10K. Well will be $10K. Then the cost of having a subcontractor build the house and separate garage. It's not cheap to build a custom house on your own land.

I have a thought to share with you. My father retired at age 59. He has what I call a "Cadillac" insurance plan. He is now 81 years old. When he was younger and frequently going to the doctor, his insurance plan would throw a king's ransom at any pharmaceutical that a doctor would throw at him. Now that the pharmaceuticals have made him sick, and he needs more health care as a result, the insurance company is getting a lot stingier with dolling out money. It occurred to me. They want him dead. And the sooner he dies the better, at least to them. This system is designed to kill you. Good video.
Agree with you. Same thing happened to my mother. In 2019 she had a flu shot. Two days later she was dead. She did go to hospital complaining of chest pains and doctor said he found nothing and was set to release her. She was 91 and I believe they had no intention of putting another dime in her. I saw this coming and decided to get out as soon as I could. Broke and divorced at 50 and out of the tech world. I ended up in trucking and saving almost every I made while living on the truck. I retired at 62 with a Filipina wife and paid off (small) home in the Philippines. I had enough of the greed, corruption and loss of freedom in the US. I come to the US for friends and family but I'm not seeing a future here with the runaway inflation, adulterated food and a crumbling society.
If you were broke at 50, you couldn't have saved much money in 12 years. Yes, the Philippines are cheaper but you can't own land as an American ex-pat. You are basically relying on your wife so she can own a home there. Would never relocate to a country where I could not own my own land.
Our government raided the social security fund and used that money to fund other projects. They never put that money back. BOTH SIDES DID IT. THEY ALSO DID IT TO TEACHERS RETIREMENT FUND. MILLIONS RETIREMENT FUNDS WERE GONE. IMAGINE WORKING UP TO 50 YEARS AND FINDING OUT IT WAS GONE.

My dad is 80, he is a gas compressor mechanic in Wyoming. He is retiring at the end of the month. He tried retirement at 72 and hated it. My father-in-law is 84 and runs his 15,000 acre ranch and gets around like a. 40 year old. They are both healthy and happy. My mother and stepdad are 77 and 82 and have been retired for years. They are very unhealthy, ill, and sedentary. Thank you, I’ll work until I die if I can. Moving and purpose keeps us alive.
Moving is important, you don’t need a job, I go out every day to a park and walk and I love it, that’s my purpose. Retired at 64 , glad I’m out of cooperate America. I feel free and May look to volunteer somewhere.

My father was old enough to remember the reason FDR initiated SS. It was to get older workers out of the work force and free up jobs for unemployed young men. The Great Depression was keeping older workers hanging onto their jobs. It was never about retirement for seniors.

So what if you work until 85... My great grandmother harvested apples in our orchard until cataracts stopped her at 92. My great grandfather was a carpenter with no electric tools. He worked until age 96. Working keeps you fit and helps you enjoy life more as a retiree. Most people die because they sit all day and eat or drink. They get bored and give in. The best thing is that as a retiree you can choose what you do and only do what you enjoy.

My father beat the system. He worked for 30 years teaching in the City of Boston. He was awarded an extra 5 years if he retired immediately making his tenure 35 years.. My father worked for 30 years and has been retired for 31 this year. Democrats have been paying my father more years than he actually worked. Here in the U K our un elected P M is trying to increase retirement age to 75 years old and then trying to get you out of your cars because they think your to old to drive .
In UK retirement age is 70 and they want to put it up to 75 except there's an issue they didn't think of , people checking out of the workforce altogether rather than pay for something they know they wont ever get. There's 40 year olds living with their parent working one day a week for their minimum spend and not worried about savings because it will just get inflated away . Its a mass spiritual awakening . Eventually , I think it will be a revolution because the state will try to go for slave / work camps /imprisonment but the cats out the bag now and aint gonna go back in.

Its not 70 . It depends on when you were born as i do recall that the younger you are , the later you will collect , it works something like you will be an extra year older for every 7 years younger you currently are now. My mother was born in 1957 , and got her state pension at 66 . One of my colleagues will be 67 , another one will be 68 when they finally get theirs. I'm much younger , i'll probably be 72 or something.

What we did was we wiped out our 401 k and paid off our home before we retired at ages 63 and 64. Never regretted doing thaat. We get no pension, only social security but we have found 'smart ways' to still have fun and an enjoyable retirement and no mortgage! Maria in SC

Makes sense, it's the same reason why the homeless problem keeps getting worse. In the politicians eyes, they're not contributing to the tax kitty, so investing in displaced people with tax dollars doesn't seem like a good investment to them. The united states has a tax monster that keeps getting bigger and bigger, retired people may have savings or investments, but all are drawing social security, which is a bit of a pyramid scheme in a sense as the working class paying into it now, may not see the benefits later.
About 80% of Americans are paycheck to paycheck. Meaning an individual or family’s income barely covers essential living expenses like housing, utilities, groceries and transportation. This doesn't include credit card debt, auto/home/student loans, medical debt, and the cost of raising children. The only real solutions are track your spending, budget, downsize whatever you can house/car/subscriptions/groceries, cook your own food,.. generally cut any expenses you can and get debt free.
@@demri123 The way the system is set up current payments go to support current retirees. That works just fine so long as the workforce is expanding faster than the number of retirees is expanding. If you were to invest for yourself today, there would be nothing to support current retirees. As it is, there won't BE a SS system past about 2035. The government will have to kill us with taxes to keep the system "solvent", and it will assist in the financial death spiral that this country has been on due to debt for a LONG time.
100% right! The economy does best the more money transfers hands. Money transfer hands more when people work and keep consuming. Debt improves the economy today at the expense of tomorrow. The government gets elected by an improving economy. Everything is incentivized in this process and the only way out of it is to realize the pitfalls of this problem by reducing your consumption and saving more.
I think it backfired on them. The elderly seem to have done better with the vax. If it made them sick, they are just a bigger burden on medicare payouts. Its the young workers that are dying like flies.
Covid was doing a good job on its own in clearing out the retirement homes. The long wait list for them around here disappeared virtually overnight. The one my sister worked at only one person survived Covid.

Retirees have collected lots of resources. Eventually, it all goes back into the economy. ALL of it. Certainly not a net negative. Retiree is the cash cow. But yes, the sooner they can get your accumulated resources, the better (for them). Once you retire, watch your back, right?
I graduated high school in 1974 in a class of 148 students. 2 (1 graduated) sisters died that night via drunk driver, head on crash only 4 miles from their home. That summer another died from drowning and another from a drug overdose. Over the years the deaths piled up from diabetes, cancer, alcoholism, accidents, murders, etc. There are approx 23 of us left. My wife has Parkinson's. I just turned 68. Knock on wood...looks like I'm beating the odds.

I retired in 2006 after 28 years in the job. That was 18 years ago. My goal is to live long enough that I will have been collecting my pension for longer than I actually worked at the job. Stop eating processed food and seed oils. Sugar and carbs are toxic. Exercise every day and maintain social and family relationships.
I'm old enough to recall when they said that email and computers would give us a shorter working week and more leisure time - a better life. What a lie. I wasn't incarnated into whatever this miracle is to be a productive obedient worker unit.

Try to avoid the diseases of old age. I am a low fat vegan, eat no processed food. My health is perfect at 63 years old. My BMI is 20. I work full time. I take no pills. I hope to have many more years of perfect health. Any body can do that. Just live a health life.
Most elderly bad health is from bad habits, wrong food choices and lack of physical activity. You have to take responsibility for these things in your life because there will be a price to pay when you are old if you do not pay attention to these common sense ideas as the years go on.
I grew up when the government and corporations subliminal program was in full swing (consumerism). The baby bloomers paid the price for generations after them now know the truth. What you call common sense wasn’t so common.

Decided to retire at 62. Died in his sleep at 63 the week after 911. People think they gonna live long or something. Most likely die before you think. Point is... retire as soon as you can. Have hobbies. Build muscle car engine. Play guitar with your buddies band at local car show etc. My mom died 68 pancreatic cancer. Just because your mom or family lived to be 90 or 100 does NOT mean you are going too.
My health care up in Alberta, Canada. Because My body pounded the shit out its self from trucking 30 years. I took early retirement at 60. I was offered MAID at 62. I said no as I have alot of life in me + two grand kids to boot. Yes I can't do alot of walking far but I am a diabetic and I have trouble walking far. So with out me knowing how much the medical agency they push hard to want me on this MAID program. This just sucks.

We, the old, are a burden. They want us to disappear. To just go away. As so we sit in our small apartments waiting to die. Nobody comes to visit, nobody really cares how we are doing. They just leave us alone and wait for us to die if we have any fame,money, clout only then do they care. Hundreds of millions of people just left alone to fade away to die. And the day is coming when you too will be one of us. Alone, in pain, unloved and the loneliness is all consuming. Good wonderful people, with stories to tell and much love in their hearts just left to die. No children come, no one ever knocks on the door. The phone never rings. No birthday cards. No Christmas cards. No one has hugged them in 40 plus years. All this in a society that claims it cares. That says it loves. That claims to be God fearing. My parents are very simple people. They are not the healthiest. They have been retired now for 18 years. It depends on the person. Collected SS at 62 (which I didn’t agree with). They are doing ok.
@@tedshepard518 - If you're 62 and have stage 4 cancer, and the doctor says you have about 9 months to live, your odds of making past 80 isn't very good. There's always an exception for the 1%, but I'd take it now. On the other hand, if you're 67 and have zero health issues, there is little reason to believe you won't make past 80. But I guess you might want to flip a coin. For me, I will rely on science and common sense.
Given the fact that our economy is ~70% consumption driven, I disagree on a fundamental basis that the "system" wants you to keep working and have a short retirement or never retire. What the system wants is for you to spend every dollar you have, and if you are working you cannot maximize spending/consumption. You simply don't have the time. Literally the worst kind of citizen you can be in our system is one that works every waking minute the vast majority of your life, maximizes savings, minimizes consumption, and then passes on that net worth to offspring that will do the same.
You won’t pass that money on Private equity companies buy up nursing homes and charge 8-25,000 PER MONTH and eventually YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY BEFORE YOU DIE.

I took a class on retirement planning sponsored by my government job. I found out that they have studied this thing to death literally. They know how long they will be paying most pensions and social security for most people

I guess it just depends on the individual. I know some people who retired and came back to the workforce. It wasn’t because of financial reasons. They said they just got tired of seeing the 4 walls everyday and waiting to collect a check every month. A boring life they said. Not me. I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

If you're living until 82, that only going to give a person about $2800 per month to live on. I had very little faith in our government, now I have none. I had four family members, who passed away because of accident or illness, before they could collect social security. One of my nieces was able to collect on her father's social security when he died, until she was 18. I came to realize that all of the extra money left from people who die before they collect, sure as hell, is not being put back towards social security. Our government is reassigning that money and wasting it on their own personal greed.
you misunderstand the way SS works. We were all told it was a 'retirement fund' for us and what we put in is what we are entitled to.. but that is a big lie. I remember in early 2020, during covid-outbreak, my portfolio worth around 300k took a slight fall, apparently due to the pandemic crash, at once I consulted an advisor in order to avoid panic-selling. As of today, my account has yielded big fat yields, and leverages on 7-figure, only cos I delegate my excesses right.

It is important to understand that a majority of people out there have been trained from birth including me to spend and consume. To follow the approved vision of what life is supposed to be. Spend, consume, put it on a credit card, buy new cars, get a 30 year mortgage, pay monthly utility bills, keep up the neighbors, fall for product commercials and work your ass off to keep up. People need to wake up and realize if you remove yourself from the system, think outside the box of what a house looks like, how it's insulated, look at technologies like thermal heating/cooling, install a mini-hydro turbine to generate your own power, control impulse buying, buy land rather than live in some rat maze subdivision, grow your own food, produce your own energy, you will live a much happier life, actually accomplish things and realize you don't need near as much money as you do living in the system. The system is designed to entice people to spend and consume.

Even buying land doesn't give you an exclusive right to possess it. Try not paying your rates for one year then see who "owns" your land. The state gets everything even though you poured your money into it.

I'm willing to pay 20 dollars a month to live on my homestead, I'm not willing to spend 400 a month plus a mortgage and utilities to live on 1/10 of an acre in the city.
I own land. Septic system will be $10K. Well will be $10K. Then the cost of having a subcontractor build the house and separate garage. It's not cheap to build a custom house on your own land.

I have a thought to share with you. My father retired at age 59. He has what I call a "Cadillac" insurance plan. He is now 81 years old. When he was younger and frequently going to the doctor, his insurance plan would throw a king's ransom at any pharmaceutical that a doctor would throw at him. Now that the pharmaceuticals have made him sick, and he needs more health care as a result, the insurance company is getting a lot stingier with dolling out money. It occurred to me. They want him dead. And the sooner he dies the better, at least to them. This system is designed to kill you. Good video.
Agree with you. Same thing happened to my mother. In 2019 she had a flu shot. Two days later she was dead. She did go to hospital complaining of chest pains and doctor said he found nothing and was set to release her. She was 91 and I believe they had no intention of putting another dime in her. I saw this coming and decided to get out as soon as I could. Broke and divorced at 50 and out of the tech world. I ended up in trucking and saving almost every I made while living on the truck. I retired at 62 with a Filipina wife and paid off (small) home in the Philippines. I had enough of the greed, corruption and loss of freedom in the US. I come to the US for friends and family but I'm not seeing a future here with the runaway inflation, adulterated food and a crumbling society.

This is one of the reasons I retired early. Living a little beneath my means, not having kids and never having debt made it possible.
Wife and kids are huge drains on finances. Most guys don't understand that until they're divorced, and by then it's too late.

My dad is 80, he is a gas compressor mechanic in Wyoming. He is retiring at the end of the month. He tried retirement at 72 and hated it. My father-in-law is 84 and runs his 15,000 acre ranch and gets around like a. 40 year old. They are both healthy and happy. My mother and stepdad are 77 and 82 and have been retired for years. They are very unhealthy, ill, and sedentary. Thank you, I’ll work until I die if I can. Moving and purpose keeps us alive.

My father was old enough to remember the reason FDR initiated SS. It was to get older workers out of the work force and free up jobs for unemployed young men. The Great Depression was keeping older workers hanging onto their jobs. It was never about retirement for seniors.

So what if you work until 85... My great grandmother harvested apples in our orchard until cataracts stopped her at 92. My great grandfather was a carpenter with no electric tools. He worked until age 96. Working keeps you fit and helps you enjoy life more as a retiree. Most people die because they sit all day and eat or drink. They get bored and give in. The best thing is that as a retiree you can choose what you do and only do what you enjoy.

Here in the U K our un elected P M is trying to increase retirement age to 75 years old and then trying to get you out of your cars because they think your to old to drive .
In UK retirement age is 70 and they want to put it up to 75 except there's an issue they didn't think of , people checking out of the workforce altogether rather than pay for something they know they wont ever get. There's 40 year olds living with their parent working one day a week for their minimum spend and not worried about savings because it will just get inflated away . Its a mass spiritual awakening . Eventually , I think it will be a revolution because the state will try to go for slave / work camps /imprisonment but the cats out the bag now and aint gonna go back in.
Now I really know the UK is in deep do do! A rightwing politician here in Canada tried to raise the retirement age to 67. He was out of power shortly after and it was changed back. I think the UK has been screwing it’s average worker for a while now, but I didn’t know it had gotten that bad!

It depends on when you were born as i do recall that the younger you are , the later you will collect , it works something like you will be an extra year older for every 7 years younger you currently are now. My mother was born in 1957 , and got her state pension at 66 . One of my colleagues will be 67 , another one will be 68 when they finally get theirs.

What we did was we wiped out our 401 k and paid off our home before we retired at ages 63 and 64. Never regretted doing thaat. We get no pension, only social security but we have found 'smart ways' to still have fun and an enjoyable retirement and no mortgage! Maria in SC

Makes sense, it's the same reason why the homeless problem keeps getting worse. In the politicians eyes, they're not contributing to the tax kitty, so investing in displaced people with tax dollars doesn't seem like a good investment to them. The united states has a tax monster that keeps getting bigger and bigger, retired people may have savings or investments, but all are drawing social security, which is a bit of a pyramid scheme in a sense as the working class paying into it now, may not see the benefits later.

About 80% of Americans are paycheck to paycheck. Meaning an individual or family’s income barely covers essential living expenses like housing, utilities, groceries and transportation. This doesn't include credit card debt, auto/home/student loans, medical debt, and the cost of raising children. The only real solutions are track your spending, budget, downsize whatever you can house/car/subscriptions/groceries, cook your own food,.. generally cut any expenses you can and get debt free.
Don't hesitate collect SSI at 62.

@@demri123 The way the system is set up current payments go to support current retirees. That works just fine so long as the workforce is expanding faster than the number of retirees is expanding. If you were to invest for yourself today, there would be nothing to support current retirees. As it is, there won't BE a SS system past about 2035. The government will have to kill us with taxes to keep the system "solvent", and it will assist in the financial death spiral that this country has been on due to debt for a LONG time.
100% right! The economy does best the more money transfers hands. Money transfer hands more when people work and keep consuming. Debt improves the economy today at the expense of tomorrow. The government gets elected by an improving economy. Everything is incentivized in this process and the only way out of it is to realize the pitfalls of this problem by reducing your consumption and saving more.

I think it backfired on them. The elderly seem to have done better with the vax. If it made them sick, they are just a bigger burden on medicare payouts. Its the young workers that are dying like flies.
Covid was doing a good job on its own in clearing out the retirement homes. The long wait list for them around here disappeared virtually overnight. The one my sister worked at only one person survived Covid.

I graduated high school in 1974 in a class of 148 students. 2 (1 graduated) sisters died that night via drunk driver, head on crash only 4 miles from their home. That summer another died from drowning and another from a drug overdose. Over the years the deaths piled up from diabetes, cancer, alcoholism, accidents, murders, etc. There are approx 23 of us left. My wife has Parkinson's. I just turned 68. Knock on wood...looks like I'm beating the odds.

I retired in 2006 after 28 years in the job. That was 18 years ago. My goal is to live long enough that I will have been collecting my pension for longer than I actually worked at the job. Stop eating processed food and seed oils. Sugar and carbs are toxic. Exercise every day and maintain social and family relationships.

Most elderly bad health is from bad habits, wrong food choices and lack of physical activity. You have to take responsibility for these things in your life because there will be a price to pay when you are old if you do not pay attention to these common sense ideas as the years go on.
I grew up when the government and corporations subliminal program was in full swing (consumerism). The baby bloomers paid the price for generations after them now know the truth. What you call common sense wasn’t so common.

Decided to retire at 62. Died in his sleep at 63 the week after 911. People think they gonna live long or something. Most likely die before you think. Point is... retire as soon as you can. Have hobbies. Build muscle car engine. Play guitar with your buddies band at local car show etc. My mom died 68 pancreatic cancer. Just because your mom or family lived to be 90 or 100 does NOT mean you are going too.
My health care up in Alberta, Canada. Because My body pounded the shit out its self from trucking 30 years. I took early retirement at 60. I was offered MAID at 62. I said no as I have alot of life in me + two grand kids to boot. Yes I can't do alot of walking far but I am a diabetic and I have trouble walking far. So with out me knowing how much the medical agency they push hard to want me on this MAID program. This just sucks.

We, the old, are a burden. They want us to disappear. To just go away. As so we sit in our small apartments waiting to die. Nobody comes to visit, nobody really cares how we are doing. And the day is coming when you too will be one of us. Alone, in pain, unloved and the loneliness is all consuming. Good wonderful people, with stories to tell and much love in their hearts just left to die. No children come, no one ever knocks on the door. The phone never rings. No birthday cards. No Christmas cards. No one has hugged them in 40 plus years. All this in a society that claims it cares. That says it loves. That claims to be God fearing. @@tedshepard518 - If you're 62 and have stage 4 cancer, and the doctor says you have about 9 months to live, your odds of making past 80 isn't very good. There's always an exception for the 1%, but I'd take it now. On the other hand, if you're 67 and have zero health issues, there is little reason to believe you won't make past 80. But I guess you might want to flip a coin. For me, I will rely on science and common sense.
Given the fact that our economy is ~70% consumption driven, I disagree on a fundamental basis that the "system" wants you to keep working and have a short retirement or never retire. What the system wants is for you to spend every dollar you have, and if you are working you cannot maximize spending/consumption. You simply don't have the time. Literally the worst kind of citizen you can be in our system is one that works every waking minute the vast majority of your life, maximizes savings, minimizes consumption, and then passes on that net worth to offspring that will do the same.
You won’t pass that money on Private equity companies buy up nursing homes and charge 8-25,000 PER MONTH and eventually YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY BEFORE YOU DIE.

I took a class on retirement planning sponsored by my government job. I found out that they have studied this thing to death literally. They know how long they will be paying most pensions and social security for most people
It's all up to you. Don't blame anyone else for your decisions in life. If you did not save and invest enough to live well (in retirement) when you were working then that's on you!
I guess it just depends on the individual. I know some people who retired and came back to the workforce. It wasn’t because of financial reasons. They said they just got tired of seeing the 4 walls everyday and waiting to collect a check every month. A boring life they said. Not me. I got my house when I was in my mid twenties and told myself paying it off is going to be my key to retiring early. As long as I am playing in my rec basketball league, have my places to fish, and go back to Panama 🇵🇦 to visit family. I shouldn’t be bored like the other retirees that came back into the workforce.
