The A380's comeback was something i prayed for every day during the pandemic, and here we are now
Same here 😩 😍 ❤️ yaaaaaaas ✈️✈️✈️✈️ also in Italy with Emirates
Facts
Same and was scared from Germany
'hoped for', if you "prayed" for it every day you need to seek help.
There is only a Comeback back to service. Airbus still discontinued production.
Happy to see its making a comeback! A great jet, one of my favourites
Yaaaaaaas 😍 ❤ and Lufthansa are absolute legends, they also are still flying the 747 😍😍😍😍✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️
Yeah will now they are announcing that B747 retirement is on the cards now
I flew on an Emirates A380 from Melbourne to Dubai a couple of weeks ago, fantastic aircraft, very smooth and spacious
One thing to note: British Airways also use the A380 for one flight to and from Heathrow to Dallas/Ft Worth. it has caused minor problems for the local police in the beginning because they have to send a car to keep the curious crowds away from the runway!
Oh wow. So I guess it’s the only A380 that flies there is it ?
Or are there other operators?
I just recently flew on Etihad, I just so happened to have seen the two operational A380s at Gates 33 and 32. I also happened to have spot one of the two on a test flight a few weeks back.
Glad they are back. I flew once on Etihad's Paris to Abu Dhabi route. It was my best experience on a flight
I have a personal goal to fly as many remaining A380s as I can. I've already flown Singapore's four times and will add airline no.2 this December, flying Asiana's A380 from Seoul to Tokyo. Can't wait, its been 8 years since my last A380 flight. I would really love the opportunity to fly Qatar's A380 before they are gone.
For Qatar you must fly business class - nothing like being at the bar on that super smooth ship in the night.
Emirates A380 mid September and October business
@@xraylife I’m not a rich man’s son and I have 0 credit cards, so out of reach for me
@@magnustan841 Just try and get a deal or an upgrade if you can.
Your so lucky the only wide-body I have flown is the 777-300ER and the 777-200LR
while it doesn’t have the highest RPKs today, the type is a great way to increase capacity quickly (albeit not cheaply). i do agree that it’s the best option today to help airlines become profitable and manage revenue better. thank you simple flying for making a “year in review” video for the type - you’re certainly helping all the stakeholders see that there’s a real aftermarket potential for the type!
Thai will re-evaluate their A380 situation soon too, I have heard. I have just done the DXB/AKL leg on an Emirates A380. People that criticise the aircraft itself, have probably never been on one. Quiet, comfortable, spacious and feels solid. Especially when compared to the B787. My only criticism of the A380 is because of the sheer number of passengers, on and off-boarding can be time consuming if the ground staff do not employ a full contingent of air-bridges. eg; I have been in Milan, where the used one air-bridge to off-load the top deck, then moved it down for the bottom deck. (Staff shortages were blamed) But i have also experienced it in Australia too.
My first A380 experience was Thai Airways from Narita to BKK. Hands down the most comfortable plane I've been on! That too in economy. I hope one day I can climb upstairs and experience business class on the A380!
Well thats not the plane's fault, thats the airport / handlers fault
I flew on an Emirates A380 from Dubai to Tokyo in Dec 2022, it is great airplane and the service of Emirates is also high quality. I really hope there is a future for this or similar superjumbos, this A380 definitely looks impressive and beautiful airplane. I don't know why people say there is no future for such jumbo, these airplanes are perfect for long distance travels.
i’ve flown on the a380 a total of 8 times. by far my favourite plane to fly on.
Was in JNB in June, got to see both BA A380s in the same terminal!
I ❤️ flying the A380 😍😍😍👍👍👍
Next time flying to Hong Kong I will book the A380 flight from MUC to BKK and then continue to HKG
OMG I am already so hyped 😁
How’s the security at Hong Kong? Is it LAX?
I would say this return is much better than I expected. I’m particularly interested in Global Airlines. And I think Emirates will become my staple airline. If I fly to a place where the A380 is not present, I will choose Air France to discover their new A350s, as judging from its huge global backlog ( more than 1100 airframes ordered) this airliner will be the new king of the skies for many decades.
This has to do that airlines are seeing huge profits in providing more premium economy seats and the bigger the plane bigger the profits from those seats
Its all depends on passengers , that want the aircraft to be on air. Due to less turbulence , superb take off landing , the best sitting configurations, and finaly everyone feels comfortable flying this fleet.
I am 2,00 meter tall, long legs. Would I be comfortable in Economy?
@@Dirk-van-den-Bergprobably not on any economy fare.
Really good to see. Never been on a better aircraft for long-distance than the A380..
I am very glad to see the A380s returning to the skies. I hope they ply the world's airways for another 20 to 30 years.
As a passenger, it's the smoothest plane I've ever traveled on. I will be doing my best to book flights on them.
I am also really glad that the passenger 747-8s are still going strong. I have not been able to get on one of them yet, but have hope to in the near future.
Long live the king and queen of the skies!
They won't last that long. But they'll be around for a few more years.
they might last 20 years actually@@Secretlyanothername
I'm glad to have flown on one from Doha to London. I didn't regret it one bit❤
Woah Emirates flying 9 to London. How many twinjets would you need to match the capacity
There ain't enough pilots or slots to do it with twin jets 👍👍
@@xraylifeThat's what the haters should understand
Great comeback, so glad to see this flying palace again at the airports❤
Could the Qatar boss be any more salty? "Out of the 10 A380 only 8 are in service" lmao!
A380 was the worst mistake they ever made he says - but its the plane that put there 2-bit company on the map.
I don't expect to ever fly on one the way things are at the moment. But it'd be nice to get the opportunity.
So happy to call LHR my home airport
I actually saw the opposite on my recent ANA flight from Narita to Chicago. Based on my original booking, it was going to be on an A380, but at some point they swapped to a 777-300ER. The craziest part is that I got an upgrade out of it from Premium Economy to Business class, presumably because the 777 has far fewer Premium Economy seats.
ANA doesn’t fly their a380s anywhere but Hawaii?
@@kagzmeister1323indeed.
The most wonderful flying experience no matter what class. I’ve flown over 70 flights with SIA on their A380s, it is so quiet. The short take off is amazing. And first to give the lower altitude experience, now followed by the Dreamliner and A350! Long live the A380 and let us hope that in future a new version makes sense. Even in the States, you would think LAX to New York would have a market?
Seriously doubt it when a large jet with TWO engines makes much more sense.
just admit you hate the 380@@JDAbelRN
Very good mid-year overview - thanks.
POV: Go in the gaming class playing MSFS 2020 while on the A380 is the best thing ever!
I'm glad the A380s are going back into service. It's a very fascinating aircraft! I've only flown one once (SF to Paris in coach - OUCH!), but it's on my bucket list to at least fly business in an A380 on day.
I went on my first a380 yesterday and I’m so happy that I did
A380 is THE BEST airplane in the world! .
I’ve flown A330s, 77W, hundreds of narrow-body aircraft, but never the A380 despite having traveled to more than 30 countries. My country’s flag carrier operates mainly new and more efficient planes like the A350 or pretty young A330’s + a bunch of NEOs. However, in one of my spotting days at Madrid I was lucky enough to see the Emirates A380 take-off on it’s regular flight to DXB. It’s been 4 years since then, and I still remember that moment as one of the best in my life…It’s engraved in my mind. The sound, the huge size being a few hundred feet away from it and also, due to it’s size, the apparently slow speed it carries the first minute from airborne. Truly a non-forgetting experience❤.
Yay they’re back
it's amazing let's hope it stays in the air forever not in a bad way but a good way
Just flown my first A380 (Qatar Airways- Doha ➡️ Bangkok). Qatar have a daily A380 to Bangkok from Doha.
When we fly Perth WA to London we only pick flights that are A380s, I don't want it to go away.
The A380 is a marvel!
Passengers do love it - that has got to count for something if air transport is a business that wants to attract passengers!
Those planes will fly longer than many people think - even once today's primary carriers have phased it out.
Used planes in good shape will find takers - especially if the price is right.
The wing spar issue is an important, non-negligable problem but will be solved and then the aircraft will be in even better shape!
One weak point of the A380 is the fuel economics, as it compares to today's top-notch players such as the newest flavours of the A350 and B787 and B777.
Specifically the current A380 engines. They are not state of the art anymore. If they could be replaced by state of the art engines of similar power capabilities that would be a game changer.
It is estimated that this alone could drop the fuel consumption by a double-digit percentage figure.
This would require some re-certification including flight testing - a somewhat expensive obstacle to any such plans.
Still, I am speculating (or do wishful thinking here) there is a slight possibility that this will happen - if there is enough demand for it. But no concrete plans yet and we cannot know.
Happy to be back, but discovered that the infotainment system on LH felt somewhat dated now…
HELL YEAH! LETS GOOOOOO!
A plane that is
practical
needed
beautiful
worthy of return
man i wish i flew one of these
It's the crew / passenger ratio. It can't stay the same.
There's not enough crew for the increasing demand. Airports slots are also a concern on some places.
Good 👍 to see the mighty giant taking back to skies! It would be unfair if it doesn’t even fly half the spam flown by 747, queen of the skies. I’ve never flown in an A-380 but hopefully someday in future ❤ 🎉
It would be a pitty if the A380 will NOT come back- it`s really an amazing Aircraft!!
very excited for the gamer class im ready to game 31k feet in the air on one of my favourite aircrafts
Good to see the A380 back but i wish to see more 747-8s but that's unlikely
Especially since it's no longer in production
@@Pilot-2020i hope Boeing thinks again about 747 stop of production
@@fra93ilgrande sadly they need orders, and since no one wants to order more 747's they can no longer be produced
@@Pilot-2020 The A380 is out of production too. It went before the 747.
@@davemiller6055 i know, the last A380 was delivered to Emirates as the 123rd a380 for the airline, and the 251st for the entire production line in 2021
As has happened too often, it will be interesting to see if the shortsightedness before that led to the end of production will lead to a desperate scramble to meet demand - when they find they can't restart production, or at least not in any time-frame to meet that demand. One thing is sure: the executives responsible will still get bonuses either way.
It may have made a comeback but it's sad that production already ended.
i got to fly a380 BA from Dallas and a380 from lax on Emirates
i shall be on one in 3 weeks time :)
I fly very rarely due to environmental concerns, but I am very much looking forward to my flight with this giant from Dubai to Tokyo Narita airport.
The only plane that resists airlines' incessant drive to decrease seat pitch and sardine as many wretched souls as possible into one plane.
Still the best passenger experience
Losing Jumbos would probably have been a hit on par with the axing of the Concorde, glad they are coming back.
Concorde and the A380 are pretty similar actually: massively expensive novelty projects that had no chance of realistically making money
Emirates also had a Hydraulic leak while landing at Birmingham after restarting A380 operations, 3 days after the restart of A380s
How is it economical to keep the aircraft grounded rather than using them at a lesser profit? Might be an interesting video...
I have flown on the 380 about 10 times in the last 10 or say years , emirates mainly and once on Thai airways, I love it so much , so much space , just economy , but so much better than airbus 350 and Boeing 787
A
If Swiss001 doesn’t do a flight sim video on board a plane, what is life even for?
In reality, super jumbo jets have lost their sparkle in today's aviation landscape. Factors like increased fuel costs, changing travel patterns, and the rise of more efficient aircraft are steering the industry towards sleeker options. The sky's changing, and so are our wings!
Actually what killed of the super jumbos is actual regulations for twin engine aircraft changing.
Previously twin engine aircraft had to be within (I think) 3 hours of an airport just encase. However because jet engines are more reliable this regulation has been changed. So now twin engine aircraft are allowed to fly the same routes that quad's always have.
Twin engine aircraft have always been more efficent but if you go over an ocean previously you had to use a quad.
@@matthewbaynham6286 The Airbus A380's struggles stemmed from market shifts, airline preferences for versatility, and economic factors. Introduced in the late 1980s, extended twin-engine operations (ETOPS) regulations were not a contributing factor to its failure.
The A380's challenges were more related to changing market dynamics, airlines' preferences for smaller, more versatile aircraft, and the overall economic environment.
it isn't a failure, its a masterpeice of engineering and very popular with passengers.@@paulmorais476

they should make A680 planes, like 4 stories high with olympic size seethrough inground pool, like a bubble under the plane, and a casino with ayce buffet ,all the amenities, money goes on and off players cards and is cashed out at the airport on landing in the casino office...a cruise ship with wings with in flight refueling...it takes off and tours once around the globe like a cruise and doesnt land until its over..2 floors of three grades of rooms with full shower bathrooms, cheapest on 3rd and midgrade and very expensive on top floor..full room service...wall size panoramic bubble windows in all the rooms..the see through pool on the bottom floor and two seethrough hottub jacuzzis...even tanning beds and saunas and a snack/cocktail bar plus a large panoramic skyview window lounge room in the tail on bottom floor with large tilted windows and full 180 deg viewing and also live foliage like palm trees etc ,also a cocktail snack bar..imagine leaning over the rail and looking out the windows while enjoying a cocktail...a micro emergency room with two trained trauma techs and two beds for stabilizing until landing..security guards on board..smoking rooms on each floor with panoramic windows to enjoy a fine cigar while looking out..the second floor from bottom has a full theater and the casino and restaurant dining area as well as other entertainment venues..it could take off from a special airport and fly nonstop around the globe and then land at the same airport, maybe like 2 of them, one lands while getting maintenance cleaning restocking done, the other is flying 3 on 3 off..72 hour cruises..it wouldnt be a A-B plane but a luxury cruise plane an experience like no other...the pool and hottubs as well as panoramic windows can be made of thick acrylic or other transparent material and have special sealed covers which deploy over them during takeoff and landing sequences.
6:27 GAMER CLASS?? LMAOO you cant make this upp
I’m glad to be honest. There is something far more “magical” about the A380. I know it’s kind of juvenile for me to feel this way but I found the shift in preference towards planes like the 777 a bit boring. I travel for work 3-4 times a year and I do get a bit excited when I’m on a long haul flight on the A380. I’ve even done a few flights on the 747 (Air China) and, while clearly a bit long in the tooth now, I do love that plane.
It makes me sad to know that AirFrance will not put them back into service
British Air. Air France should be mandated
Flew Air France’s A380 from Paris to LAX. Great plane and great ride. But I did notice many empty seats which may explain why they are not flying them for now.
thats the French for you
More than happy to see the A380 back in service. No plane has that feeling of spaciousness in C-class. I've only flown First once, but in the 380 I felt it almost wasn't worth it. Unless you have the private cabin as on some carriers. That said, on some carriers it's a waste as their product is pathetic and outdated, so not making the best use of the aircraft. BA and Lufthansa, I'm looking at you. Qantas used to be great until Jones ruined it. I'll stick to Singapore and the 3 ME carriers.
Still waiting for the 747 :(
Best plane ever! When they told me it was being phased out I was like hmm maybe for a short period but it will come back, its too amazing to dismiss so easily. Also the global population over time is going to increase so the difficulties they face now with ground space etc will have to be updated anyway.
i can imagine some kid sat outside gamer class crying to whole flight because they want to play xbox
We need the combi version
That will more than likely never happen. The A380 wasn't designed for being a freighter so a combi would probably not work.
@motsumilioness the MTOW would be way too high too with freight on board
90 A380s for Emirates !
10:18 what happened there 😂
Within the next 10 to 12 years....they will virtually be gone from the skies. The final one was built in Dec 2021 and the bulk of the airframes (mostly with Emirates) are already over 8 to 10 years old. You will start to see Emirates retire many of the older airframes out of inventory when the Boeing 777X comes in. Emirates has 115 on order with options on an additional 40 or 50.
Lufthansa still has 2+2+2 in business class. That's ridiculous. I'm avoiding Lufthansa altogether.
Best aircraft ever made! 😍😍

4 Singapore Airlines (2018) + 2 (2021) + 2 (2022)
All 10 from Air France (1 retired few months before covid)
6 Lufthansa (Lufthansa confirmed the retirement of all 14 A380s on April 1st 2022 but reversed its decision in June 2022.
6 A380s already sold back to Airbus.
3 of remaining 8 aircraft to be returned to service in 2023.)
1 Hifly
2 Emirates
2 China Southern Airlines (February 2022) + 3 (December 2022) = all 5 of them are retired
1 Qantas (June 2022) + 1 (February 2023)
All 6 from Malaysia Airlines (November - December 2022)
Emirates still have about 20 on the ground at DWC.
what an irrelevant not needed list
Sadly i suspect the next oil super-cycle will be the death of the A380.
Its all manufactured - the earth makes oil continuously so there is never any shortage of it.

Hello a380, goodbye environment
747?
I just flew on emirates A380 two days ago from Dubai to Bangkok. I must say it was nice flying it again. However, the cabin feels quite date by now, like stepping back in time.
You were unlucky then because Emirates are upgrading all their cabins, your plane mustn't have been done yet
Slots are being reduce and not enough pilots to fly narrow jets. Duh
Why does Qatar's CEO statement sound so sour? 😂
The A380 is the current solution for large airlines. Rather than waiting for an airplane that is not clear when it will fly with passengers. It is better to have many seats for passengers than to lose passengers flying on other airlines.
Yes it is ugly, but all aviation enthusiasts have a big sweet spot for the a380
A380 is just being reused because of the 777X delivery delays. Once the last goes into service, game over.
