One of the few RUclipsrs that I can always have an enjoyable watch of, love your content and of course the scarce but detailed edits perfectly complement this style of interesting puzzle games
Just want to take a moment to thank Tyler for taking the time play these puzzle games for us, and the editor(s) for helping make each game’s mechanics easily understandable. ❤
Reminds me of the Deadly Rooms of Death series, and given the name probably a bit intentional on this game's part. More a possible 'inspired by', since there's some clear differences in mechanics. Namely different way of attacking, and the monsters stay on the same tile in this one. There's... a lot of that series, so if you enjoyed this, it's at least worth a look.
I started playing that series a couple years ago because of the thinky puzzle games discord. It’s got some cool puzzle design but I lost interest because the graphics are so ugly lol (to be clear, pixel graphics can be beautiful, low effort graphics can look fine, but DROD’s graphics are just… ugly. Also the limitations placed on undo in DROD create tedious artificial difficulty that isn’t present in modern grid puzzlers) Edit: oh, this game reproduces the tedious artificial difficulty :/ that’s a shame I would have bought it otherwise
@@voidify3 Modern DROD has had unlimited undo for a long time now, because it is a puzzle game. Early DROD, though, wasn't actually a puzzle game, it was more tactical combat with occasional puzzle elements. Limits on undo make sense there... execution was most of the game play. With a little bit of undo I can mindlessly blast through the first game in no time with no thought. But I've also played the Architects Edition version, which has no undo. There were only a couple rooms where I missed it a little bit.
It's good to see the game dev world has not forgotten about Deadly Rooms Of Death. It's one of the oldschool puzzle game staples that I keep hoping gets a remake
Beat this one a couple of weeks back and while it's not the biggest or most difficult puzzle game, it does do some interesting things. Like the opt in easy mode or the way levels evolve with some traps. Also enjoy that the story sort of explains the weird situation. Solid game and hope the dev keeps it up.
wow, you're editors with the graphics showcasing the spikes and moves you're thinking of is amazing, your channel's quality has gone so up, I'm so happy that I've been watching you for years to get to see where you are now
So many incredible puzzle games getting posted recently, that combined with the top quality editors and Tyler's skills/charisma means that we're freaking feasting
9:40 as soon as you killed the spear guy i just instantly thought "oh, and now you're dead because of discovered check" ... i might be watching your shotgun king videos a little too much
If you like this game, you absolutely *have* to check out arrowmancer. You're lining your characters (who are witches) up on a 3x3 to deal damage, themed as casting spells by dancing with eachother. But how you line them up to get damage changes with every match, and your team will have preset patterns for each charcter, making some characters flow really nicely, while others feel just so bad. All in all arrowmancer feels very much like this game, surprisingly! And another surprising thing about this game is hiw well (at least the early levels) simulate combat fundamentals (keep away, strafe, nearest first, keep all enemies in sight).
11:11 Tyler says these guys don't add much to the puzzle but they really do, if you get to them and kill the unarmed skeleton without thinking then the bow skeletons become impossible to kill because they're guarding each other. They're a trap!
A bit tougher to follow than some others but might just be getting used to it I like the puzzles, looks like they did a good job of keeping them varied and difficult so far!
this game is super reminiscent of stephens sausage roll! has very well thought out room designs to force you into a certain pattern of moves, very clever indeed!!! please keep this one going!
I feel bad making a suggestion considering how incredible the quality is of these videos, but it would be really cool if you put a link to the game in the description :)
I noticed a lot of "stutter stepping" to off-set the timer of traps. But couldn't you just simply switch directions back and forth as well (as long the spear has room, of course)? It felt like at a lot of points you needlessly ran back to stutter step, instead of just turning right and then left again.
Not being able to spend a move to 'wait' makes this game concept a lot harder.
true, although I think tyler added some additional challenge by not just turning in place to move time forward.
Reminds me of that Nitrome game Rustbucket.
maybe use the poke as a wait button could work?
It would be trivial otherwise.
@@blakksheep736nitrome is a blessing
just the section of showing how the spikes work shows just how great the editors are, its such a small thing but is so appreciated.

Interesting how the character just completely swapped mid-cut

I downloaded this video to another site, and played it at 4000x speed, I can confirm this is another great video by Aliensrock and his editing team.

Strongly agree; was about to comment saying this!

I get what you mean lol, love the art style personally though. Reminds me of some of the childrens books I read when I was younger

this looks like a fun puzzle game, i really like the art style. excited to see how it plays out!

I know you can't ACTUALLY post Parfe Down The Rabbit Hole every day, but GOD DAMM I wish you did because I LOVE the game!
hyped to watch more edited gameplay by my favorite people, would be nice if they took that weird talking guy off the screen tho
I once again thank the editors, and Tyler
This game is another reason why Stephen’s sausage roll defined puzzle through movement games
"How can something so small be so hard?"
Oh i wonder Tyler.. i wonder
Thank you Tyler for figuring out what happens if spear combat was a puzzle

Interesting mechanic. Really spearheading new puzzle dungeons.

Tyler's ability to find really engaging puzzle games is amazing. I wonder how much time is spent trying out games that aren't very good.

yeh, let of the so called filler is either security by obscurity or traps
This just makes me want to see Tyler struggle in Crypt of the NecroDancer
I feel like a rhythm game would be really tough to do commentary over
Stephen’s Sausage Roll and Crypt of the Necrodancer had a baby
nice puzzle! I love when the rules are simple enough that I can "play" together :)
I like this theme for a game of this subgenre. The dog with a stick was good too.
Looks like a fun game to watch - simple enough mechanics that I can understand what's going on even if I'd never figure out the solution myself!
1:46 entrances made me laugh thank you
This seems really cool, hope we see more of this!
A bit tougher to follow than some others but might just be getting used to it
I like the puzzles, looks like they did a good job of keeping them varied and difficult so far!
Very interested in more! Can't wait!
Reminds me of an old 1996 game called DROD, bit more adventurey than this but definitely still puzzly with a one tile big greatsword.

The crossing between Steven's Sausage Roll and those weird chess puzzles that are about strategically wasting tempo. Extremely Interested.
I thought it's inspired by DROD.
If I had a nickle for every block-based puzzle game about manipulating a long thing in a tight area I'd have several nickels
Would love to see more of this
This game is a direct, more aggressive evolution to Stephen's Sausage Roll, movement-wise at least, and I love it
12:27 I'm assuming there was some confusing that was cut out. I do want to add that one way is clearly vibrant yellow, instead of a dull white.
The problem is the map of the Dungeon shows the two paths as Up and Down, when the actual level design has Right and Down for the paths.
am i the only one who wants like more videos a day? like I enjoy these so much
I see the first few seconds and this game reminds me of the game “Alchemy Dungeon” it’s a fun game
I am SO excited to see more videos of this!
you've liked an occasional roguelike in the past, peglin in particular. and this reminds me a lot of crypt of the necro dancer!
This is me letting you know that I would like to see more.
I heard the name of the game and thought, could it be? A game inspired by Deadly Rooms of Death? Turns out, it's not.
good editing at 10:38
A perfect showcase of the utility of a Halberd
Can't wait for my nightly aliensrock vid :D
Oooh! It's a puzzler in the same core vein as stephen's sausage roll. Love it
It appears the number of spikes in the spike traps shows how many turns it takes. Neat.
Looks like Steven's Sausage Roll, but something I would actually enjoy playing.
Stephen's sausage roll except Steven has had enough of the skeleton's BS and is fighting back
I would love to have this on a Ps2 cd
I feel bad making a suggestion considering how incredible the quality is of these videos, but it would be really cool if you put a link to the game in the description :)
Excited for more of this game
it feels like nitrome games on phone. Really cool discovery.
Again great choice in game! Loved this video
This feels like a prelude to crypt of the necrodancer
Name a better combo than puzzle games having secret levels/meta progression
If you're enjoying this, you should check out Deadly Rooms of Death (which this is likely named after in spirit) !
oh my god yes please! can you imagine an aliensrock DROD playthrough? hell yeah!
Ah yes, the rise of the Steven's Sausage Roll-like game genre
I can't help but feel bad for the helpless unarmed skeletons that are killed for no real reason
*Looks at the time*
Oh boy, 12 am.
