Such a spontaneous, gentle endearing scholar. Carries his learning so lightly. We hope that the new edition of his Hindu encyclopaedia sees the light of day soon. HRD ministry should take this seriously
Tanya ji,Please try to record more episodes with him..We would love to listen his experiences and research to gain some knowledge of our cultural heritage and history. He is a pioneer of cultural studies and research. Such a great personality and yet so humble. We pray to God to give him good health so he can enlighten us more...😊
A truly fascinating interaction! Prof Kapil Kapoor is so endearing…one of those rare storytellers that one can listen to for hours and yet yearn for more. I always used to regret not having the chance to study directly under him, of not being able to know him better…but this talk takes some of that sting away. Loved every minute of this talk.
However, this talk ended abruptly…hope there’s more to follow. Please bring many more interactions with Prof Kapoor. He is a truly de-colonised mind and every sentence he speaks is pure gold!
I am feeling lucky to chance encounter Prof Kapil sir's video, only two days ago, so happy to see a wealth of videos, I really wonder how such personalities occur, though he is so simple but contains tremendous knowledge, I wonder if I could contain even a fraction of this, your mother, of history, talked in metaphors, this is same with me Yes children should be made acquainted with true history in the early age
This gentle scholar has forgotten more than i will ever learn in my lifetime His clarity of thought and drawing connections and inferences are eye-opening
1:17:24 Geo-cultural specificity of literature. Very important thing. Once in school we were taught an English poem where winter was depicted as harsh, cold and bitter. After the class, one of my classmates said to me: "But in Calcutta (as Kolkata was formerly known), winters are so soothing. We get so much relief from the 11 months of hot weather. Then why is this poet saying winter is so chilly and harsh?" I brushed away his question then. But later I realized he was speaking sense.
Prof Kapil Kapoor sir I have huge huge respect for ur knowledge, And more for ur humble personality, pls ans my one question , why with so much richness, our knowledge is not attracting our youth, and how to do it ??
Because our knowledge has no place in our main stream education - but no need to be disheartened. It has happened many times in our history and our knowledge has always come back, as Vivekananda ji had said. So let us all play our part. Thanks and best wishes.

It will be unfair to forget the role and contributions of Prof G. C. Pande in keeping alive the study of Indian knowledge system when Marxist scholars dominated and controlled the discourse in the country. With rare courage Prof Pande steadfastly continued to write and lecture on the various aspects of Indian history and culture. Profs A. K. Saran, Dayakrishna, D. P. Chattopadhyaya were the others. Prof Kapoor's works on Indian knowledge systems were encouraged and supported by Prof. Pande as the Chairman of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla. Prof Kapoor would be the first to appreciate the role of Prof Pande.
You are truly saying literature is the mirror of culture, paradise lost is based on biblibcal concept just contrary to our'own culture,so how can we connect with the poem of west or Europe
The Britishers Colonised our minds to include Education Culture Social Structure besides many other areas. A number of dedicated scholars and Research people have given their sincerity and life time mission to reverse this psychology and thinking. But it is unfortunate that even this govt is reluctant to make substantial changes to inculcate a sense of pride in our Heritage. When you make a lady HRD Minister whose own Education qualifications are suspect and subsequent head of HRD ministry who devote more time in Politics. So is the case with Ministry of Culture and Social Science. Anyway only two people in the govt call the shots therefore not much blame can be shifted on their shoulders.

That lady seems ineligible for this kind of legendary conversation.
Look at her face, hand movements and expressions don't look like she is interested.

Give his CV first, qualifications etc, not how many posts he has. Bloody hell.
