Well. The egg might be growing as well as the creature inside does. And its a bit more like a cocoon in that regard. And if its dropped in an empty system, it could grow for a while unnoticed. Dr. Ghoztz Give us the ability to create custom titanic life paradox. Or seed a planet with them either overtly or covertly then give our current ally the seeded planet. Hm, I don't know. Considering how Paradox was all "this one is completely unique" it does not really seem that unique in the end, except for the method by which it is found. The reward is also a little underwhelming, considering how easy energy production is in thegame. I was hoping for something like "the beast is slain, but not DEAD, our scientists can attempt to get it under our control; result: +1 Colossus/Titan (whichever makes more sense) that does not count against the limit".
Great Wound and L-Gate mechanics please Aspec. I can wait :) Edit: In my 2 playthroughs havent gotten the great wound, didnt know it did nothing, sorry!

"Rarest, most elusive leviathan." *Finds in 1st distant stars game within 20 jumps of homeworld.* I was a savanna race, and it was a savanna planet that had 24 tiles, was lush and had exceptional quality minerals, 17 tiles had one mineral, of those 12 had two and 3 had three, in a spot where I'd get adjacency on all the 3 mineral tiles. 1 month b4 my colony ship touched down the egg stated hatching. 80 years later I got the project after killing it. Only a 5% energy boost? That's it? The other guardians give me special armor, shields, components, tech, a dreadnaught, a space dragon, jump drives, and then this? Screw that! I want my d$mn planet back! I did the math! That's was 168 minerals a month with all the bonuses stacked on! That's WAY better than the energy boost! I'm p$ssed! This leviathan is the 1st one I've actually hated! It sucks! Maybe if it was a 10% boost, since it's double a repeatable, it'd be worth it, but it isn't, so its not. 0/10, would *not* want to get again.

I'm so sad that you can't cultivate the void spawn if you find it while its inside of a planetoid. Make it think that you are its parent but because of this interference its born very very small and you have to feed it minerals, energy and food in increasing amounts to have it grow and eventually become a part of your fleet.

@@anonguy772 Yeahh since the egg is a whole planet, we're atleast talking about something the size of a whole solar system, if not bigger. It'd be less flying around and shooting it and more either just trying to weather it or even fighting it from the inside.
So I started playing this game a few days ago. I'm still on my first game and seeing this thing swat what I thought was an impressive fleet aside like an annoying mosquito gave me one hell of a reality check just when I was getting kind of confident at combat.
My first play of Distant Stars gave me the Voidspawn, have to continue that playthrough. thanks for the tips. as mentioned it generates 20 society research on the husk of it's planetary eggshell
Yes it does. In my recent save game, I found the voidspawn in the middle of an enemy empire I had just conquered, so apparently the AI claimed the system, and it spawned there.
Probably it will trigger when its system of origin gets claimed/colonized. Like the way the Limbo event can get triggered by AI's. I don't think that the player has that much exclusivity from events and anomalies.
In my game, a machine intelligence empire colonized a world that hatched into the Void Spawn. From what I could see, it took out his outpost and the system remained neutral for decades, until I finally became brave enough to send in my fleet in overwhelming force.

I avoided colonizing a planet because i noticed that the tile blocker descriptions were missing. Now that alone was not the problem, but 1, it had some weird tectonic instabilities listed. 2, more importantly, the tile blockers were listed with their code descriptions "something_egg_something".
this event insta triggerd whit no warning as far as i can remeber when i tryed to terraform the planet the void spawn was hideing in... after i payed the price for turning it in to a gaia planet........
In a previous playthrough I actually was exploring an allied empire's unclaimed space and found a voidspawn. Made a habit out of every playthrough to send out 10 or so exploration cruisers all around the galaxy to identify leviathan locations for my assault fleet to strike.
I haven't had the system nor did anyone else and it suddenly hatched, now I'm doing what any normal, calm, and sane person of an empire would do with a slimy moth outside your empire's doorstep. Panic like hell and frantically look for a way to kill it.

I didn’t know that the Void Spawn was so rare. Thus far, I have not seen the Scrapper Bot or Tyanki Matriarch. The Void Spawn was in my first Distant Stars Playthrough. It popped up in my neighbor’s territory and I eventually took it out with 80k (combined) fleet power. It died fast-ish but I wish I had looked a little closer at it’s weapon loadout before I sent my fleet in :(
The void spawn as a adult might be a eater of Galaxies and a race millions of years different one that was a adult so who knows maybe the devs might add a end game crisis where you have to fight a void spawn adult
It's been 6 months and I've only just now encountered the Voidspawn for the first time. I found a nice system with 3 planets in it, all habitable for my species. I'm on 2.2 as well, and one of these planets had a lot of mining districts available so I was thinking to myself 'great! This will be my production capital! So I waste a ton of influence expanding my borders to claim this system. Beside it I discover at the caravaneers! Then on the otherside of the caravaneers I discover is a marauder empire. So already I'm kind of second guessing my choice to build over here, since having your main production facilities right next to a marauder empire isn't exactly ideal... especially since I was currently massing my fleets on the opposite end of the empire due to fanatic purifiers. Finally I get to the system though and claim it, and that's when the cataclysm begins. I look and it's on the mining district planet. Losing growth and habitability was annoying, but I wasn't too concerned, since that can be fixed over time. Then of course the planet shatters and the void spawn emerges... and now I'm here refreshing myself on what the voidspawn does, because this game has really not started well.
The problem with this leviathan is that what you get out of it is, well, bad. I mean like seriously, +5% energy ? You can get the same thing with the crystal focus (when you do the crystalline entities research project) or a repeatable tech. Most of the other leviathans give you something more worthwhile for the same effort.
Why?! Why does this thing appear 32 years in, I’m not fucking ready, I was prepared for a small war with a neighbor but then this thing appears. Gonna have to assemble a fleet that’s bigger then anything currently in the galaxy and just for good measure create a fortress system.
I wish to know what this Enigmatic probe neutral leviathan is. It poped in my game in 2300, and is basically just scanning worlds. When engaged, it just jumps to FTL. Again and again.
Thought I could tame this beast (It was in the same game where I had L-Drake's on standby) but to find my scientist dead by the hands of a young Voidspawn. I still feel guilty.
Based on my understanding that all I needed was adequate PD: In case this helps anyone, I built a fleet of 3.5k fleet power, 80% Screener Destroyers 3x missile PD, 15% Screener Corvettes 1x missile PD, 5% Carrier cruiser 2x PD. All non-pd weapons were Tier 2 plasma accelerators (+100% armor +50% hull). After watching this video and seeing the Voidspawn only has missile weapons. I took out 135k armor, and maybe 20k Hull and fleet was wiped. I took out 146 missiles, but the voidspawn has some other damage source because non-missile damage was about 90% of what wiped my fleet.
The most rare? First time I played Distant Stars it was a total of six jumps from my homeworld, though it was also on a dead end hyperlane so no issue there. Thankfully, it was a desert world that was the egg and I had a continental species with a couple of better colonizing options. Though admittedly I've seen it on average one out of every six times I've done Stellaris since.
I just got this one in my latest playthrough. I saw this notification for quakes and then went to that system and THIS just came out of a fucking planet. The curators said its a baby And I slept that night no more.
I wonder what happen if before/during its incubation (when it just starts to climb out of its egg) you blow it up or shield it with a colossus, would like to try, but never find it in my playthroughs
Once got the start of this event chain on a planet in my empire. Rifts and the green sploches on the planet, plus the significant society research bonus from it. And then nothing else happened the entire game. Nada, zilch. Stayed exactly the same till the endgame. Do i NEED to colonize it to trigger the voidspawn?
yeah this dude spawn in one of unoccupied planet that have a excavation site(zro) on it. happened very early in the game 75yrs! and that excavation site is the last zro event i need!! and to know that i need 16k-20k fleet inorder to defeat it!, im playing a game ironman mode with tech cost x3!
Damnit no option to subdue it capture it and grow it to adulthood then unleash it on the galaxy? Am I too evil for this game or is that just too much dev work xD
Not sure if that thing qualifies as a leviathan, but I could not find any info on the psyonic thing that hides inside a system not connected to anything except a wormhole. Had it in only one game that did not go that well for me, so I did not have enough fleet to check it out. Is there a video about it that I'm missing?
Quick question. If i want some picket ships to defend my artillery ships. Would it be smart to give some picket destroyers/corvettes artillery combat computers to defend them?
Not sure if this is just random chance but I got the lead up to the voidspawn once (the cracks in the planet, the heartbeat etc) and then the heartbeat just faded eventually and everything went back to normal aside from the cracks. Is this just one of the random chances in the chain or is that yet to be discovered properly?
I found it after it had been triggered by another AI empire in fact now that I think about it, I had several cool events be triggered by AI empires so I never got to see them.
If that planet was an egg and the voidspawn is only a baby, then I shudder to think what a full grown voidspawn looks like
Helix Void Echo oh god
Modders, you know what to do.
Or it is already hatching full grown. There was a Doctor Who episode where Earths moon was exactly that. A giant egg.
Harakiri Hakebeil Possibly the case for the male, but a female would have to be much larger in order to be capable of laying a planet-sized egg.
Well. The egg might be growing as well as the creature inside does. And its a bit more like a cocoon in that regard. And if its dropped in an empty system, it could grow for a while unnoticed. Noice.
The problem is that the egg isn't on the planet. The egg _is_ the planet.
You just gave a good idea to me, if I find the time somewhere I can make a mode doing that :)
X Zaguer voidspawn is not an egg inside a planet. The egg takes so long to hatch that it finds a stable orbit , and develops its own fauna

Endless Stellaris?
I didn’t know that the Void Spawn was so rare. Thus far, I have not seen the Scrapper Bot or Tyanki Matriarch. The Void Spawn was in my first Distant Stars Playthrough. It popped up in my neighbor’s territory and I eventually took it out with 80k (combined) fleet power.
It died fast-ish but I wish I had looked a little closer at it’s weapon loadout before I sent my fleet in :(
This is why the one planet challenge is the only way to play the game.
until you find out your one planet is actually the egg. Could never happen but would be hilarious if it did.
Wow, I forgot that distant stars came out when tiles were a thing.
Imo this is totally a Doctor Who reference, such a cool mechanic
Yes aspec you are the man! Thx for hearing me ❤️

I heard there"s a lot of boom sounds and cracks occurring around the world?
The void spawn as a adult might be a eater of Galaxies and a race millions of years different one that was a adult so who knows maybe the devs might add a end game crisis where you have to fight a void spawn adult
Kinda hoping for more, also when I saw green was hoping a c'thulhu style apocolyse but oh well. We need that by the way:
C'THULHU!!!
It's a kinder egg. And the leviathan the surprise.
I think this needs a follow up event where mommy voidspawn comes looking for where its child is.
Too bad we can't hatch this creature, it looks awesome.
I took out 146 missiles, but the voidspawn has some other damage source because non-missile damage was about 90% of what wiped my fleet.
i had the void spawn turn up 3 systems away from my home world the first play through i did it was a pain in the arse to deal with
The most rare? First time I played Distant Stars it was a total of six jumps from my homeworld, though it was also on a dead end hyperlane so no issue there. Thankfully, it was a desert world that was the egg and I had a continental species with a couple of better colonizing options. Though admittedly I've seen it on average one out of every six times I've done Stellaris since.
Few people know that the Apocalypse elite start has a chance to spawn a Void Spawn.
Another point for habitat superiority
What happens i blow up the planet before it hatches? Will that end the event?
I just got this one in my latest playthrough. I saw this notification for quakes and then went to that system and THIS just came out of a fucking planet. The curators said its a baby And I slept that night no more.
It is a dimensional horror baby, now you see it 2:33 | 2:37 now you don't.
It only hatches on dry planet types BTW.
forgot about this had to look it up since it is so rare just got this and cyperx with a machine empire
Got this first 10 years
I once murdered a Voidspawn with about 10 Titans, all of which (Including the Voidspawn) I had spawned with commands.
It only spawns in dry climate.
Been playing for over a year and only today dit it spawn for me
idk how you could call it elusive, got this prick 3 times in a row with new games, right next to my home system
Also, this has yet to spawn in any of my games. The fuck.
can you do one of these for the L-cluster event?
This thing is at least 4 years old? I encountered it for the first time just a few days ago and thought it came with one of the newer patches.
If you cant be bothered to deal with the Voidspawn just use a colossus and blow up the planet.
I started a game of Stellaris once. This happened to my home world. I started a new game Stellaris.
Damnit no option to subdue it capture it and grow it to adulthood then unleash it on the galaxy? Am I too evil for this game or is that just too much dev work xD
Matt F A LITTLE too much dev work
That looks like a Darkest Dungeon Reference
Is it possible, before the voidspawn hatches, that you could take a world cracking colossus and crack the void spawn's planet?
I had Voidspawn my first Distant Stars game...
Looks like its Exterminatus time once again...
What perfect timing. One just spawned in my game.
It looks like the gravemind from halo 2
Not sure if that thing qualifies as a leviathan, but I could not find any info on the psyonic thing that hides inside a system not connected to anything except a wormhole. Had it in only one game that did not go that well for me, so I did not have enough fleet to check it out. Is there a video about it that I'm missing?
Been trying all week to find this... i heard its only on a 20 tile dry planet, orbiting a G-Class Star. I'm starting to give up, please help.
I recommend a community poll to find a better name than Voidspawn
Me seeing this for the 1st time: "Holy shet, what the fuck is that!"
