Thanks for sharing this. I'm not into League anymore, but always loved riven. People said back in 2021 Era, that some Korean rivens knew much, much more than the rest of the "western mains" did. Do you think that there is/was truth in that? I never heard S-cancelling back when I was scouring the Earth for riven tricks, I'm curious how long this trick has been known? Hey man! S-cancelling is a relatively new discovery; maybe from within the past year. As to kr rivens knowing more in 2021, I don't really agree. I think at that time, BUILT and some EUW rivens were really beginning to pop off, and adrian was starting to slow down. I do think S cancels are a chinese discovery? But I'm not certain about that. Comparing asian riven tech to the asian tech for yasuo/lee sin, and the difference there is VERY vast and obvious. Chinese Lee's pioneered the ward(inputbuffer)-flash-w, all kinds of midair abilities/alternating Q's, etc. and CN yasuos made all this crazy q-cd refresh tech with predator, protobelt and waht not, but for riven's asian 'hidden tech' influence isn't as big imo. my following of the history since s2/3 has been boxbox#1 > everyone else kind of slowly came up. Boxbox showed the wall jump tech to the world as well as the e-wq double cast before riot hard coded it into the game. Then Chinese riven 1shots #2 > this was taiwanese players in specific I remember back when lethality was just introduced, no one on riven thought to do flash combos to 1 shot a squishy as a 'fighter' character, but I remember seeing my first werhli combo maybe around S4? one shotting a varus, and another clip one shotting a cassiopeia, and that was pretty sick, though it wasn't called the werhli combo back then because Werhli had yet to popularise it from BR > he came in maybe 1-2 years after the sexy combo and other chinese 1 shot clips kind of surfaced. and then my first sexy combo i saw maybe around s4/5 too. But those combos were probably being done anyways and I had yet to see them. For example back then my teenage self named a combo the 'mystrii combo' because I thought it was 'new tech' but I think people were doing it anyways. Anyways that was fun to look back on :D
Wow, thanks for the lovely reply :) It's things like the fast Q's, and now the S-cancel (unless introduced by patches) which always made me wonder - what else might there be? at the same time, her kit is balanced around these little "bugs," which further pushes her into obscurity, for lack of a better word. It's a blessing and a curse I suppose haha
Would this s cancel mechanic not be really good into champs that can invul your ult like fiora/cam/kayle? Normally they would invul ur 3rd q or ur r2 depending on which they decided to invul, but with this you hit your full combo except you might be using R2 when they are 35% hp instead of 20% etc?
yup this combo would be great into those champs! standard 'jailing combo' is standard ER or ERQ or e-aa-RQ opener into AA-Q, then at about 30%-50% health (depending how early/how fed you are) you can do AAWSQR and with ignite it kills most champs :)
@@edgelord1337 no i havent, and i doubt it would work. i think when riot hardcoded riven's e-wq double cast they added some properties to rivens abilities to make them "hard cancellable" which have bled into/can be accessed by other spaghetti coded aspects of gameplay (like vivi cancel's aa input, or s cancel here). many champs can do a move command and end cast bar ability animations sooner, but full on ability double casts i think are pretty much exclusive to riven i think. (besides mid-dash cancel and hexflash double casts which i have done on champs like lee/lb).
