9:26 - Well... if you pull "that" handbrake, you would technically slow down. Suppose that's the correct term now. Your mom (aka MamaDix) did outrageously well!! Congrats.
Lew, I just want you to know, as a student pilot. It gets really stressful and sometimes I consider quitting. But watching your videos reminds me about why I have always wanted to be a pilot and I thank you so much for it! 37 hours down and 1 XC until I can schedule my check ride!
Your mom is adorable. Hope to see her again on the channel. "Grab the handbrake and give it a click mum." She helped out on approach to landing. Love it.
Haha, that was brilliant. You should do a video with both your mum and your sister together, just so we can see how long it takes you to turn back to Exec 😂
I thought your Mom was awesome. Then she said, "oh there's a hand brake" I nearly fell out of my chair! Dude that was RUclips GOLD! I now have a new RUclips FAV (Mama Dix)!
One thing I would love to see a series on is your mom learning to fly and getting her license. She loves to joke around and have fun so it would be great for the channel.
MamaDix brought the best banter!!! Good thing she didn’t pull on that handbrake mid flight. Also - I know you were concentrating on that landing to make it like butter because nobody judges a landing harder than a momma 😂
Man, that was great you took your mom up flying. Yes! We all would love to see more videos of you and "Mama Dix" flying again. She is very proud of you. Excellent brother.
Laughed soooo much at this video, one of your best! In her defence every time I put in a notch of flaps when I’m learning in the Piper, I always think “one notch of handbrake” haha
Great to see "Mamadix in the cockpit at last". Now we know where you get your mischievous sense of humour from 👍. Treat her well & treat her to a pair of Flying Eyes. You should do a Dixon flying family away day and post the outtakes 🙏😉. “There we go, there we go, handbrake is on and you can feel it sucking you down” 🙊🙉🙈😘🤣
That was great your mom's a sweetheart you guys have a wonderful relationship I'm sure I like the parking brake have her on again I've been following you for a while
Ok….we need more flying videos with your Mom. This was quite funny. The thumbs up for me came when….”Look at the wing there, the flaps….you got a wing over there”. Funny stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Your mother is lovely, don’t be so hard on her. Maybe if she had a good CFI she would do better 🤣 you’ll have to get her back on the channel so you can try the NASA low approach again. Excellent video, keep them coming!
Lewis, Mama Dix is Amazing! (and Hot too. ) ;) The wife and I were laughing almost to tears the whole time. What great wholesome fun! Tell Mama Dix the Davis' say hello! Oh, yeah... finally got my first Solo on the 2nd! Gonna be flying down to meet you and thank you for your inspiration before you know it. (maybe get a lesson from you too.)
Lew, I'm curious as to whether you take requests. I've been following your channel for a few months now and absolutely love it. As an aspiring aviator who's just now breaking into the lifestyle, I was wondering if you could talk about your experience in owning a Cherokee. I've flown Cessna's and I know there is a lot of debate as to which is "better". I plan to make my first purchase soon, but I'm doing some research and gathering data. Even though I've never flown in a Cherokee, I'm partial to them (and other Pipers) based on research alone. But I'm wondering, more specifically, if you could talk about how much TTAF your aircraft has and how much it had when you purchased it. I've been hearing alot about the wing spar situation and I've heard people state that since Piper is no longer manufacturing wing spars, they can only be procured from used/wrecked aircraft. But since that is the only way to get them, it is difficult. What has your experience been and what is your professional opinion? I ask because your opinion is valued.
Aviation101 got cleared for that low approach not too long ago, just sayin' 😂😂 Great video. The dynamic between you and your mother is great! New subscriber here!
My mom is afraid to fly. It went like this. First I just taxied her around and that was that. The next time she was willing to fly. Afterwards she said it was one of the greatest times of her life! Yeah, the (Wh)Or(e)lando ATC can be challenging. I have an Arrow 200 and fly out of Gainesville. Are you in a health care field?
hey lew i dont know your life but like, if your dad is able i’d love to see him go with you lol, would be funny. if circumstances are different i apoligize but the content is fantastic.
Lew, your mom is fun, did the same with mine many years ago and we ended up not speaking for almost 5 years after. My step dad on the other hand was almost a natural despite being the most mechanical driver I ever got into a car with.... Now that was scary. Love the vids. Now you and 03D need to get rid of a "2" and put your feet to work in a C180.... Hint hint.
I used your code and bought myself a pair of Flying Eyes with readers in them so that I can see the instruments. Just saying... least you could do for Mamadix!
@@LewDixAviation YW. Honestly, they have been helping me with checklists more than the panel. Got my first, "Right Rudder. Right Rudder! I MOAR RIGHT RUDDER!!!!" last week. Figure to be about 10-15h from starting solo work.
Hahaha brill video, your mum's sound! My mum was too scared to go flying with me - "it's not natural!" She once won a week in Tenerife and no lie, gave it to a homeless fella. :D Safe to say we ripped on her for years after, he probably didn't even have a passport.
Does NASA ever let you do a low approach? When I flew around there in 2002 I was always told they sometimes allow people to do that, but they always rejected me as well.
Special relationship there Lew! Congratulations. Mom's are the BEST. You'll have to bring her up to my stomping grounds for a NASA tour ( Huntsville, AL ). We've got all kinds of NASA things for her to see. Send her to Adult Space Camp and she'll get all of the behind scene's viewing and the experience's of a Lifetime. She'll Love that. Plus our U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a must ( www.rocketcenter.com/ ) She can see her Love's (Elon) competition : ULA, Blue Origin and the multitude of other Space Companies here.
OMG...the PTA meetings at your middle school, you could have sold tickets if your mom attended. All of your friend's dads would have bought the tickets. NOW..if you were raised in England you have no idea what I'm talking about...haha.
When she said "ohhh there is a handbrake like my car" it killed me man LMAO well done mamadix!
hahaha
Lewis: "yeah, you've got a wing on your side as well". LMAO
😂 I laughed a lot at that during editing
In her defense, there IS a handbrake on that aircraft.
Definitely see the common personalities in the family.

What a lovely lady. Respect to your mum. 🙏

the quality of your flight instruction when teaching your mom goes from about a 99 to about a 16

😂 It wasn't my smoothest landing either. I was expecting applause.. I got nothing!
No rinsing from me, she did great!
Your mom is adorable. Bring her back soon !
Your mother is lovely! Definitely bring her back on!
Your mom is awesome! Loved this video. Great that you are able to get your family up flying.
MamaDix should definitely be back. Great video, she is a real trooper.
Her question about the flap handle being a hand break was a great question though. There’s older pipers with hand brakes.
Your mom had the best “welcome to the Sky” I have heard so far 😀.
Glad you were able to take you Mom up for a ride. I'm still finishing my training and hoping in next month or so to take my parents up.
Man, that was great you took your mom up flying. Yes! We all would love to see more videos of you and "Mama Dix" flying again. She is very proud of you. Excellent brother.

😂 I didn't even realize
Your mom is great! Omg the handbrake comment had me laughing so hard!
Taking your mom flying is the best!
Is the hand brake next to the Flight Attendant call button? Great stuff Lew!
haha thanks Mike!
what the...
Oh. I heard how she says "Lew!" That was when you gave some pilot-induced turbulence--don't ever, ever, do that again! ;-) Lots of fun! Thanks!
Mama dix rocked it, definitely has to make another come back flight, still laughing.
Love that you can laugh with your mum. Another fantastic vid, mate!

"You brought me into the world, you can take me out!" LOL :-p

Great video! Your Mum was awesome.
"Go ahead and pull the handbrake" Lmaooo
"Get Off!" I don't think that counts as a standard exchange of controls. Stay off the parking brake. Nice job MommaDix.

Love that handbrake. stopped me from having to hit a plane of final when I was too fast.
I heard if you pull the handbrake hard and turn the yoke you can do a pretty sick drift 😉 thanks for sharing Lew

what a gentleman, giving your mom the "good" headset
Is this sarcasm
@@piercepromotions6642 what is sarcasm

Oh yes, Pipers are known for their handbrakes! You use them to Tokio Drift around the base leg.

Will do!

Cheers!
Perhaps consider phoning the tower in advance, to see if it's possible for the low approach? Save you flying out there to get denied :P

In a way, the flaps are really hand brakes, in that they do slow the plane down. That was fuc*ing hilarious though

Why does the NASA facility have a control tower? I know it’s a contract tower, just wondering because it doesn’t seem very busy...
Lew - how do you record your audio? Just via bluetooth from your A20, or?
