I just got a 12 set, which is part of the bundle together with the gorgeous 24 Metallic Watercolours and 6 pencil set Thanks for your sharing on this, will try on black paper soon😉 I am from Hong Kong😊
I’ve been back and forth on these. I’d use them for adult coloring. They just look cool and I still have room in my Faber-Castell only pencil case! Lol. Maybe!!
Faber acastell has different colors to identify its lines. The school line is red, the intermediate blue and the professional green. These are red line, but because of their good quality they are considered intermediate. (some even say that they are like an intermediate between the hardness of the polychromo and the softness of the prisma, the latter I do not have to compare them on my own). I have the set of 24 colors, in Argentina they are Eco Super Soft but advertising also sells them as soft and special for black paper. Thank you for this review and the comparison with other brands! 😘😘😘😘
Hey Lindsay, I have these too (50 set) and use them along with the Bic Intensity coloured pencils(36 set that I absolutely recommend to everyone!) And they blend and layer as smoothly as my prismacolors!, I *ABSOLUTELY ADORE* them. I can *really* recommend them as a cheap alternative to prismas since over here in europe prismas aren't as easily available and are expensive to import etc.
I think the Prismacolors are not allowed on some European markets because they have some unauthorized chemicals in them? I don’t know if that is really the case. Thanks for the tip on the BIC pencils, I will go have a look at them.
I've looked at these and as a colorist I've found I actually prefer more transparent pencils. Even my beloved Prismas bug me at times, due to the way the cover the linework. It really depends on what you are coloring but when working with an artist who uses a lot of contour and shading in their work, more transparent color just lets it shine through. I also find since I work almost entirely on white paper you get a lot more luminosity in your coloring. I think they are an excellent alternative for those doing actual drawings on colored paper though.. especially compared to the price of other opaque brands.
I have those. I have begun to tell myself no more pencils. I could not ever use all the pencils I have in my life time. Even if I colored 24 seven! So I have to just tell myself NO! No more but they are all so pretty. Yep, I’m a pencil hoarder. PS - see I have the 36 set & really like them for Christmas cards for night scenes. Now I have the 50 in my Amazon cart. I have to order some things this week so I’m going to let those go through on the order. See, see, see they are so pretty. Someone tell me NO. My husband is not going to. If I mention I want something if I don’t get it for myself it still shows up at my house. He is no help saying no.
I ordered the 50 pack and the pastel/neon set to treat myself and they just got delivered today :) The 50 pack costs around 23 Euros and since they're Faber-Castells, I'm sure they're not gonna be total crap :3 Looking forward to the weekend, let's see if I can fond some time to create anything then 😅
I wonder if there any coloring books on black paper, or even toned paper. I bet that would be really cool! I don't really use coloring books, but I'd consider buying one on black or toned paper because of the novelty.
Black Paper? But, I don't want any more pencils. Too bad, I will buying a set anyways . What will my wife say? I just not tell her. With my collection, she might not know that I have them
LOL the sustainable thing would be to not buy 😂 I was gifted a set of these, and they weren't too bad. I actually preferred them on the white paper. I know they were meant for black, but they just were more for me on the white paper ha.
lol I got these last week. I've got chromaflow too but like the black edition for school stuff and sharing with my kids because they are cheaper and still good on black paper.
In the uk the 50 pack of black edition is £19.99, the chromaflow set of 72 is £80.99. So for the person on a budget it looks like the black edition would be a good choice.

I thought they brought back the design spectra color when I saw the picture. They were black round barrels and what I used in art school in 1990. I still have some left. Problem is, I don't think they're artist-quality so they're probably all fugitive. Faber-Castell, being an old, reputable brand, might have better lightfast ratings for light to mid blue-violet in the Black Edition. Or maybe the Derwent Chromaflow set?
@@DreamQuillRose Sadly, as old as Faber-Castell is, those types of colour are fugitive; that is why they discontinued #139 Light Violet.
