The pacing was spot on. I didn't see any patterns in your combos, definitely unpredictability worked in your favor. The head knees were a great advantage to exploit over a smaller opponent. That said... Johnson / Moraes 2
Great fight! Big respect to Palacios. I think he smiled because he liked being in the ring with you despite everything that had happened. Speaking of which, I'd love to see more videos with Kevin Lee. Those sparring sessions between you two in Mike's gym are amazing to watch.
I think I am correct in remembering that although it was announced Jose took this fight on 3-4 weeks notice, he in fact had been in training camp for another fight he had, but which fell through for him. Jose did in fact have a 7 - 8 week camp but accepted this new fight with Gabriel after his original fight fell through.
@@ashtar3876 It happens more than people know where you are in training camp and then your opponent pulls out and you are up against a new replacement opponent. Many amateur and pro fighters will accept a fight on 3 or 4 weeks notice even when they have not been in training camp as they want to utilize the opportunity offered to them. I remember being told Jose was in training camp for an MMA fight and it fell through so he transitioned his camp to be for straight kickboxing. Jose is good at both and a really tough guy for sure.
thumbnail looks like the exact kick you were just showing how to do on hard2hurt and the way the guy is blocking looks exactly like the way you said not to try block it lol
Lmao if I ever fight in ONE I’ll talk to my optent beforehand and be like “u good catching kicks?” “Yeah bro, stupid rules anyway” “cool cool let’s fight”
@@jamielondon6436 Varga even comments on it. It was a body shot from open stance. there was a tangle of feet and a weird trip. Simply no way a "knockdown" like that happens from a body shot. hahaha
@@chocodesu There are countless knockdowns from body shots, and Gabriel very clearly says that he doesn't know whether it was one, not that he doesn't believe it wasn't.
@@jamielondon6436 I’m not saying that there aren’t knockdowns from body shots. I’m saying there are not knockdowns like this one. But you are right that Gabriel doesn’t say whether or not it was legit. Based on how he describes it, what the video shows, and how Jose and our Coach recount that specific part of the fight (not to mention me watching it live), I 100% believe that it was not a knock down. That’s nothing negative to Gabriel. He clearly won the fight and, that 10-8 round wouldn’t have changed much
What was your favourite work from this fight??
I loved the head knees. I really worked on them for this fight.

Love the pressure fighting from you, but that body shot-slip-body shot must've been really satisfying to land!

Yeah for sure would love to see more sessions with Kevin!

Damn so it was pretty fair

Kudos for giving everyone more of the full scope of the undestanding
You look even bigger and faster now!
Definitely think I've improved since then.
8:10 I love when you show your fight energy!
Thanks for breaking it down and giving us valuable tips at those split moments on what you had done.

lol had this fight right on top of my study pile, opened in the tab next to this one. Better to watch it with the thoughts of sensei himself!
Love the break down stealing all the skills I can lol
I enjoy your insight - thank you! Definitely learned some things I want to try in sparring. Also enjoyed seeing your old hairstyle 😅
Good one Gab 👍Excellent analysis, academic level 🧐
Thanks! 😃
@@GabrielVargaOfficial You are welcome 😁
Can you do a breakdown of the Danny Bill vs Dekkers Fight?
Cool breakdown 🙂

Karate combat said you're 5'8 lol
Yeah. 2-3 stats there have been incorrect.
Bro if he's 5'8 then I'm 4'11 😭
@@remyhavoc4463 Yeah, when I read that I was like “wtf, he’s as tall as sensei Seth!”
As a friend of Jose, I enjoyed this breakdown! Definitely not a knockdown in round 1 though 🤣
How so?
