What a fun idea! Love hearing the analysis on the strategy of each websites. shows how important to hire someone who can think about the strategic details because in this case it matters a lot!
Thanks! Normally the process looks different of course and is a lot more informed but I have a feeling both those websites were quickly hacked together with a rather low budget ;)
Really loved seeing the changes you made. It made me reflect on some of the work I have coming up and what things I should consider in the redesign process. :D
Your redesign on these 2 websites is way better than theirs! To me, it is aimed at undecided voters or first-time voters - although it should not be the norm to design poorly. Anyway, always appreciate your efforts, and have an awesome day 💝
Loved both redesigns! Something I really appreciate in your courses and videos is this clean way of explaning your decisions and though process... Always leaves me with a "aha" moment.
Perfect decision making bro. I suggest Kamala's avatar do blend in with the crowd in the background, blue or brand red background as yours will separate it :)
I really liked the audit process you carried out. As you mentioned, you wouldn't know the actual purpose of this website. But had some ux thoughts It seems like the blue box of Kamla clearly indicates to vote vs Trump's 'join the movement' isn't that clear. If both are to cast votes then I'd keep the copy clear like Kamla's. I am bit new website design, but from a user's perspective in Kamla's upgrade ,felt like there's a lot of CTAS on the right side. With Donate on top and below. The box functionality was done well. Trump's was real upgrade, the photo was great. The design is minimal and not overloaded. From a objective perspective, it doesn't tell if I can vote for him from the website. Great work, just thought to add my thoughts.
Some really good improvments! I do think the map on Harris website makes it look like it's the footer instead of the homepage but overall I 100% agree that your changes look 10x better
I like that you explain your process and show the differences while telling us about the reasoning for doing so. Thank you. You would definitely do a much better job for either of those campaigns if you ran their digital media departments 😂
Of course for a real redesign it would be back by research and lots of types of it - so it would likely be different than my quick touchups that I did. But yeah it's surprisingly low quality.
You get called by either party, yet? 🤣 This is the perfect example of how experience can immediately dissect and improve a product. You just reminded me of what a professor once said: never stop scrutinizing; it’s how you gain experience. TY for your insights! I’m looking forward to seeing more.
Michał, you did an excellent job - you demonstrated that the majority of the changes are taking place in the text and navigation, not necessarily in the design. In addition, what you say at the end is interesting. A website is embedded in context, depending on what role it plays in the whole communication, where and why those who receive it come to it. Totally agree with you! In the near future, I hope to see a similar film about the Poland elections ;)
We had an article on Diana’s medium about polish presidential candidates last election. My yt is mostly non PL ppl so likely not a video but definitely an article in April.
Love your take and the logical progression/explanation for the changes you made. Good stuff-as always (🙏) Interestingly, your vid background and setup sort of look governmental - curtains, microphone and it looks almost like you are at a podium.
Dude, I like your work. My humble opinion is to insert social proof, that is, people... maybe in the background of Trump's image, something very subtle but that would be noticed. Fabio from Brazil.
I was right about Harris’s site being better than Trump’s design-wise, from vibrant colors, scalable logo, to image use. The content is probably vague on purpose 😂 I LOVE your redesigns! Thank you for sharing!
@MalewiczHype The Trump version, the text message, the colors and image are all in unity. The headline and the image alone will make a great billboard ad along a major highway.
Nice challenge and good job 😎 especially on the Harris redesign but tbh I think the trump redesign still needs work, I feel it is a bit too wordy when you first land on it - as your also seeing text below the hero there is a bit of text overload... and the imagery of him could be stronger but it definitely has a more logical flow then the original so it is an improvement 🙏
Great video, I'd love to see one of these critiques for the mobile version of the site which is probably more than half their traffic. It's a form factor that is quite restrictive/limiting but also so important.
Yeah, that's valid to think about, but that would make the video too long + it's easier to show a horizontal header on RUclips than a long-vertical design on mobile that'd have to be zoomed in and/or scrolling.
I guess I'm curious on whether you think it's possible to differentiate in that for factor, or it's all just hamburger navigation and stacked content blocks
More redesign videos! Seeing how you do them is better than just giving tips We learned that the buttons shouldn't be spaced too much, how to think like a pro designer, and more!
Intresting topic 😅 am a software developper and i have an idea why open source projects dont include ui/ux designer that would change everything for linux and projects like audacity or even blender and would make them more user friendly
Many don't do proper UX because they don't want to expand the budget and they want to deliver coded stuff faster with less complaining from a designer ;)
Thanks for this video, I am wondering if it is legal to show their websites in your videos. Trying to do the same thing but worried that local companies might take legal action because I show and criticize their sites.
How about something to make the visitor feel like many others are visiting the website and they should return to gain something, eg a referral feature that makes them comment on policies made, ask questions and get quick answers etc. I'm just learning
Sir, I need your advice. I’m 34 and recently finished an online CS bachelor’s degree. I have solid experience as a graphic designer but can’t decide on the right career path. Should I start a career in UX design or coding like front-end development? I feel I don’t have much time to make the wrong choice. Please guide me.
Yeah yours work. Would I change anything ... Not much maybe make the buttons a little rounder say 20px makes the messaging softer and more emphatic. I liked the fact you played with the content, the original just didn't get the message across eloquently so overall a great job
Thanks, I believe designers should totally focus on the content - it's what then wraps up the design and with bad content no fancy graphic will work anyway :)
@MalewiczHype dude I guess we are on the same page on this ... Yes it's not about fancy graphics it's about the messaging and how that works with the visual content which gives the viewer nothing other than to interact ... That's the perfection we strive for and not always get ... RUclips content of yours is perfect as is your linkedin content ... Me I'm always on a learning curve asking questions to get better at this
Hi Michael i wanted to shoot you a message on linkedin, but couldn't find you. I read your UI book There is a page about states green=positive, red = negative But i got lashback from a developer that these are not accessible
I removed my LinkedIn account after it got hacked. I'm not on that platform anymore. As for your question: you can bump up the colors to match the current contrast ratio criteria :)
@ I agree. Haha. By the way, I can see how much it could be different by just changing a picture of Donald Trump. It shows more his character and gives more attention. Also I like your simplicity the first sentence on Harris Walz website. We don’t have time to read all that long sentences 😂
It could be a small segmented control with a flags then if there's just two languages. Still the small ES is barely visible so they won't see it likely anyway.
It's more fun with desktop designs, but traffic is 80% mobile these days. Renders the analysis less relevant. Would be interesting to do this exact thing but for mobile.🙂
Without the actual goal of the sites it’s kinda hard to judge them. That being said we can give opinions all day about them…. Thanks for the input though
I've been doing this for a while so it's not that difficult anymore if it's just heuristics. Obviously a normal redesign would have a completely different process and couldn't have been done that fast.
@MalewiczHype Might be good to create another video about how long different things take. A client seeing this taking 20 minutes might have some unrealistic expectations about the cost of websites.
In our case we usually explain to a new client our entire process. This is a "fun exercise" with moving boxes around but it's not how we professionally do design - it's just for youtube. But you're right, may be a good idea to show more of the process in one of the next case studies we got lined up.
Sorry but I don't understand why in USA, the right use the red color and the left the blue... In Europe, red is the mark of the communism/socialism !!! And the blue is based on the kingdom, the royalty... It"s very strange 😅
Anyone who ever was a president stays a president. Just like many people say "President Obama". So no, not by mistake. He is the 45th president. Not the 47th (at least not yet) but what I said is valid :)
I love your way of designing, and we need more of this redesign videos.
Thank you!
Awesome! I plan to soemtimes do them next to regular case studies
@@MalewiczHype Your recent videos are super! case study ones.
I have some really awesome worldwide projects to share in early 2025 too, can't wait
Def need more redesign videos lol, I was thinking the same thing
Your redesigns are so much better. I love them. Thank you for creating this video.
Thanks! This is a bit of a different format for me, but I had fun making it
Excellent video demonstrating the impact of actually thinking about the psychology and meaning behind content.
I love your redesign, it clarifies many aspects and enhances the experience. This show the important of good design
The thought that goes into your web redesign is just amazing. Amazing video man 🙌🏾
Appreciate it!

Indeed it does!!

Thanks! Yeah I think these were both kinda rushed.
@@MalewiczHype Yes, I do think that they have taken their votes for granted 💘
Wow, great redesigns, your skills really show how important it is to a good design!
Thanks!
Loved both redesigns! Something I really appreciate in your courses and videos is this clean way of explaning your decisions and though process... Always leaves me with a "aha" moment.
Awesome to hear that! I don't do videos like this often but decided it's an interesting perspective to look into.
Great work as usual. Loved the Trump redesign best.
Thanks!
I agree Trump's site is now better than Kamala's on the re-design 😊
I love being a designer because with subtle changes you can makes big difference for the user. Great work! 🎉
Your designs truly stand out. I love them
Well done, Malewicz. I hope the designers watch this video before the next 2028 election.
Thanks! It's not really a proper proces (what I did here) either, but it is a quick set of fixes for sure.
Perfect decision making bro. I suggest Kamala's avatar do blend in with the crowd in the background, blue or brand red background as yours will separate it :)
This was amazing! Great insights that could apply to any website redesign.
Awesome to hear! Yeah a lot of that stuff is pretty universal. Which site do you like more?
@@MalewiczHype I think faces are important, so Donald's image positioning looked better to me - #notARepublican tho 😅

Possibly, but my reasoning was that if you see your own area there it becomes more personal and "connects" faster
Your design is much better, keep on the good work 😊
Thanks! Very good analysis and the way of thinking.
Concept like none other on YT. 🔥

You really nailed the aggro vibe with the Trump redesign
I think that you found the best way to attract new high-quality subscribers, hat's off 👑
Love what you do both sites. And trump defending flag is cool metaphor
i love that you always can find a way to make things better. That's how great things are made in this world
By the way, what's the best way to learn design if you had to start all over right now?
Probably just through guided practice on our platform - it's faster than courses
love the redesigns, way better than what they have currently.
Which one do you think works better?

I agree that it was probably vague on purpose 😂😂😂😂💀
Love the redesign........great work.

@MalewiczHype The Trump version, the text message, the colors and image are all in unity. The headline and the image alone will make a great billboard ad along a major highway.
Gold. That was great. Thank you for sharing :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
A really interesting video. I always learn a lot from you. Greetings from Chile :)
Thanks! :)
The Harris redesign goes so hard
And the Trump redesign needed a better photo of Trump but I love the spirit of it
Trumps redesign was super upgraded lol. Love it
Thanks! It was objectively a worse design to begin with so it's easier to upgrade it.
Amazing content ideas as always ❤

Gosh darn it man... Trump's website cannot be this sexy.
why?
I think Trump's original website is going for a dark and apocalyptic theme. That said your design process is awesome.
very nice redesign!
Which one do you prefer?
On Harris’s website, she’s looking at the form, so you do too. It’s a conversation rate optimization trick.
Yeah I mentioned that on the other site the gaze principle actually works against it
the redesigns makes much sense
Very great job!
The video design is incomplete because the mobile view was not captured. Could we have part to include mobile view. Much love from Nigeria
Thanks for this video, I am wondering if it is legal to show their websites in your videos. Trying to do the same thing but worried that local companies might take legal action because I show and criticize their sites.
You are OP 🙏
5:00 I think the color blue was to convey trust to the voters that's why it's appearing a lot in both designs.
It also may have something to do with the american flag ;)
How about something to make the visitor feel like many others are visiting the website and they should return to gain something, eg a referral feature that makes them comment on policies made, ask questions and get quick answers etc.
I'm just learning
you should send these improved websites to their teams!
I love this channel ☺
Government websites are the same in every country, bad design and slow speed. The redesign you have done is amazing.
How do you choose a font?
There are some exceptions - but yeah rarely
They are gathering millions in funds, yet they do not put, apparently, any of it on web design. Truely amazing.
As a designer, really wasn't expecting a video like this
What were you expecting? :D
Your trump redesign received much more „design love“ 😅 👍
It was an objectively worse design (the original one) so the difference is more striking - that's the main reason.
Nice video 👍👍
Thank you 👍

I liked the 1st photo of Trump as it shows him looking strong, composed and stoic, which is what Americans associate him with.
Actually these redesigns are better than the original and most importantly backed with logical choices.
That's the idea behind doing a redesign - to make them better :)

Nobody has a website like Trump’s. Believe me, it’s the best. It’s tremendous. We’ve got millions - millions - of people visiting every day.
Wow, 20 minutes to redesign each? Impressive.

Somehow web design cannot not save the candidate with the bad policies
so who you gonna vote
I always analyse the policies of everyone and most often vote third party. The less political the candidate the better. Doesn’t have to win.
