Having political parties in municipal politics is wrong. It's going to cause more division, and fighting for government funding. The UCP has done well over $80 billion in very costly debacles and mistakes, so far. Included in this is where the UCP lost Alberta hundreds of millions of dollars by forsaking collecting property taxes from the oil companies in Alberta, and the UCP also didn't pay property taxes on provincial government buildings in municipalities in Alberta. This is exactly why municipalities in Alberta must charge increased municipal property taxes. Bill 20, by the UCP, is one of many very bad bills by the UCP, where it's all about power and control for them.
Cartmell’s insistence on BRT instead of LRT to connect WEM and Downtown is such a poor stance. We need development and density along this line and all the research shows that BRT won’t drive that. In a city with winter weather, we also know that trains do much better than buses. And their capacity is significantly higher to move people, which the west line needs. Other routes make sense for BRT, but not the west one.
Value for dollars, 💰💰💰 run the city like a corporation... Yikes. At least he builds "YIMBY". Some solidarity with climate change and "tough on encampment" rhetoric would make him seem better

Here is hoping! He will have my support!
We need change at city hall. Sohi, along with most members of the current council, have been a disaster.
