[DIY] How To Hone Engine Cylinders In Your Garage Using a Dingleberry Hone [BMW N52 Rebuild Part 7]

Most of you here honing a cast iron block can use this dingleberry hone without issues. If you are rebuilding an alusil engine listed here: [en.wikipedia.o...] You need to use the correct hone for this block. I didn't know this at the time and used a dingleberry hone instead of something like (see link below) with a special compound. I suggest you measure the bores of the block for out of round/taper and if they are more or less straight, you just leave the cylinders the way they are or use the special hone. It should produce a mirror like finish instead of a crosshatching pattern.
