    The best way to remove it is to leave it at a toyota dealership and drive off with a toyota instead.

    I just changed CVT for my wife's -08 Altima, I checked your video how to do it, and following your steps, took me only 3 hours from start to end, thank you for the video, it was a ton of help, only thing I did differently was stabilizer bar, I unhooked end links from struts but it was only cuz I changed them at the same time with struts and cv axles since all of those were worn out

      As a car dealer, I have replace 5 cvt's in Nissans. Costs me 1800 for the Nissan rebuilt tranny plus oil. Only a one year warranty from Nissan, though! My mechanics have charged 400 to 900 to r and r them and program them. But then, they were Sentras and Versas and one Rouge that don't have cross members like that either.
      Junkyards want $1,000 to 2,000 for a trans, so I just get it from the dealer wholesale.
      I would like to see you pop out a Versa trans.

    • @jaykrom852
      @jaykrom852 3 года назад +2

      Meant to reply to this oil changing- DO IT SOONER- 30 to 40,000 miles. And the first one even sooner- there is always some metal in there and you want it out with a new filter. My brother did this on THREE Caravans- known to crap out at 80 to 110k- and has gotten over 200k on every one!!! Oil is cheaper than the trans...and like he says, don't drive it like it's a race car.

    Is there a way to remove the CVT and use a regular Automatic transmission say older model for 4 cylinder Altima engine,? In case bolts are not matching, then can we make a custom intermediate plate to match holes and bolt it to the engine on one side and make holes on the plate to match the transmission bolt spots?

    • @CarMechaNick
      @CarMechaNick  4 года назад +2

      I honestly wouldn't try. It would take lots of modifications and idk how the pcm would judge shift points. That's honestly out of my realm haha. I can tell ya anything about old Hondas. But sadly you'd be better off getting a dealer unit its almost the same price as a used unit for us.

    Well done mate, I just did my 2nd one on a 13 Nissan Quest. First was on a Nissan Altima. Both trans were brand new from Nissan. The Altima I added 4 qts once installed and drove perfect. The quest I’m doing now is wigging out. I think it might need Nissan programming. We have the snap on Zeus but I don’t think it can do it. This is a larger cvt and I added less fluid than the Altima and I think this one is overfilled. Do you know if there’s a certain amount to add to Nissan factory transmissions? The dealer said 5 but after three this one is registering overfilled on the dip.

    • @CarMechaNick
      @CarMechaNick  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I always tell people to go by the dipstick. It never lies. Thats awesome man. We usually send them to nissan to avoid any difficulties if we needed to warranty trans. Though nissan does not give a very good warranty on these transmissions. I think they know what's up. 🤔

    • @M3Eddie
      @M3Eddie 3 года назад +2

      Car MechaNick for real bro these transmissions are straight up ass lol. Before I put in 2-3 qts it was seemingly fine but Nissan insisted it needs 5 qts after install. Now it slips a lot and won’t show R, N, D or L on the cluster. Might try to take some out and see what’s up. You said the dealer didn’t charge you to program the trans?

    • @CarMechaNick
      @CarMechaNick  3 года назад +2

      They do charge us. Its like 130 I think. They are just not good units not matter what it kinda sucks because I like nissan before these things came out. Hope you get your issue worked out man. I always fill it with what it recommends and then I check it after they program it.

    Nissan just sent my friend a warranty extension letter for his 2016 Altima. Poor guy was getting ready to pay major $$$ to swap the transmission because it slips badly when it's hot outside and just flat out stops working. He has to pull over and let the transmission cool down. Any ideas for how he could extend the life of his new transmission going forward.

      I put a long ratchet on the crank bolt to rotate the assembly. If you rotate clockwise you'll be fine on timing. If you miss a bolt I suggest making the full clockwise rotation back to it.

I want to assume maybe the newer o es are better given research and experience on the manufacturer. Only time will tell.

      Those CVT’s do suck! If you are the slightest bit late on changing the fluid, they burn themselves up and the pumps on em go out ALL THE TIME!!! They also tend to have trash cooling systems which makes them overheat especially when climbing steep hills in hot weather.
