Don't sweat not remembering everything about your guns. While I may not have as many guns as you have access to, I do have quite a few, and remembering how each of them operates and the disassembly/assembly procedures for them all is actually pretty tough to do once you get a good collection going. That's why I rely on RUclips videos such as yours to re-remind me of things I have long since forgotten. As for the Cordura Mag Pouches, remember, the plate carrier is used and it was exposed to weather etc... If you force the mags in and let them sit for a bit, you will find that they will likely loosen up the pouches so that 2 mags will easily fit in each. In other words, they shrank and you need to stretch them back out a bit. Thanks for well-detailed video and keep them coming.
Add a paint can opener to the kit, allows you to get spent jammed casings that don’t eject and are jam into the chamber. Works better than knife and multi tool. Can retain with string or paracord to your molle.
I love that early 2000s gear. I find those eagle industries style velcro mag pouches really quick to reload actually. Faster than retention tabs that you have to slide out of the way in my opinion
Still amazed by your transitions and reloads. You really show that training is number 1 regardless of gear. Train with what you have and make it work for you.
I'm a month late here but we called that single point sling setup a "Wolf Tail". They were convenient for being able to lay the rifle under your armpit along your side to free your hands for task. We carried a lot of gear in our kit and not having a rifle blocking it was nice. When you have two PTT's and a Nav board/Smart phone on your chest (in addition to magazines, gerbers, nods pouch, pyro pouch, etc)
35:50 - 35:58 There's using your mag catch.......Then there's DOING a mag catch! :P Love the concept of this video, all the info on the kit and all the work you fellas are doing. Keep it up brother Also, in the Australian Army, we usually referred to dump pouches placed in that position as "Roo Pouches". Not even joking.
Old-school safariland love it!. I remember when I was issued a ssiii for my 1911. Got the gun stuck in the holster for 20 mins before I figured out how the system worked. Once I had it down it was probably the fastest level 3 holster that was legit triple retention for the time. Love their stuff but I agree about the fabric especially on the 6280s
Yep, double pouches, always load second mag to the rear, if too tight, get them wet and stretch them out with 2 mags and thin wooden shim boards. They'll loosen up. Make it happen or find a way.
I remember someone saying or maybe I read it somewhere “soft men create hard times. Hard times create hard men, hard men create good times. Good times create soft men.” Food for thought.
What you said reminds me of a passage from King Arthur, which I'll paraphrase: "When Arthur gathered his knights about him, once the realm had been made peaceful, they formed a council at the Round Table, and the old knights who had fought for the peace devised certain games, resembling combat, for nothing grows rusty like a plowshare or an idle sodier. The veterans, who had been to the campaigns, were keen to play these games, while the younger men, who had not been participants in real combat, did not love the games."
Your point about shooting a plate leaning against a chair is so spot on. Newton's 3rd Law. A real test would be mounting it to a big cedar tree that has the same radius as the curvature of the plate so it's fully supported. This will provide the maximum resistance from any energy transfer to the back stop rather than the plate. Think of it like holding a piece of wood in the air and trying to hammer a nail through it vs providing a solid backing for the wood to drive the nail. One scenario will definitely isolate the material strength of the wood over the other.
Lucas, screw the people giving you shit man. Keep it up, you're getting people into a hobby and giving them fundamentals that sets a solid base for future training. God bless you and the family. Stay up, G
LOL Lucas you should totally do a ALICE rig I have a lot of it from growing up as a kid in a military family and I was in the woods with my father, uncles and older brothers all the time and they taught me everything They know, it’s awesome kit and doesn’t break the bank.
It’s crazy how service members will look at a dude with better equipment and better training plus more time behind a gun and get upset just because he didn’t get yelled at and sent to a different country
As a kid before shooting a new gun my dad always made me read the manual cover to cover. My uncle got a usp 40 when I was probably 10 so I have been aware of the decocker for 20 years now lol. Reading manuals isn't fun but it can prove to be useful from time to time.
@@rjones0429 the sigs usually have a decocker or a safety, in different places. I don’t think I’ve seen a SAO sig with a decocker, or a DA/SA sig with a decocker and a safety
I like how Lucas is like a kid on Christmas when he does gear related videos, I mean I'd be one also. I've got my rifle and a handgun, just need the proper plate carrier and helmet to round everything out
Hey Lucas. You should get ahold of Tim Pool's people and give him some weapons training on his show. Your politics might not match completely but his somewhat recent appreciation of the 2A is great for the gun community and would be great exposure for you too. He could use some training and from what I've seen his house could use some better security.
Ahhhh yes, the old school kits! You gotta roll up the slack on the loose straps with e-tape 🤌🏼 and with the OG mag pouches, you can leave them open for quicker access, but you have to put styrofoam or something in there so that the mag won’t fly out. Beautiful memories 🤘🏼
Hey , i think you should turn this into a series , you could up the budget every video , in my opinion if you do this , you could teach everyone who has a certain type of budjet by posting each video of different budjet , i hope you could turn this into a series as it is one of my favourite video :)
As a veteran, who was only a 91A, I will still take and learn the multiple lessons and skills you teach from gear and rifle load outs to marksmanship. I currently run a Condor MOPC GEN 2 Plate carrier and still swapping around my stuff that fits best. But seared in my head from Basic Training by my Drill Sergeants. Lol I gots to run at least 6 mags on the carrier. No more 8 counts big sarge I got the lesson 🤣. They HATED watching us carry only 3 mags on the front during field training.
We make our bed and lie in it. Content like this ultimately, in some small way, informs and fosters/improves the culture of the gun community (which is kinda a misnomer, it is not a niche community, it is everyone, a mainstream interest.) The key to living on a nice street, is making the neighborhood a good place to live.
Idk if this will reach the creators however, fysa you can stretch those mag pouches out by forcing the two mags in then soak them in water with a kitchen utensil like a wooden spoon for 24 hours then let dry with mags and spoon still inserted, once dry your pouches will have stretched out to accommodate 2 mags with wigle room for faster reloads.
You can get 2 level 4 plates from botach for about 200, many decent plate carriers are 80-100, and you can get surplus rifle, grenade, radio, etc... pouches for dumb cheap like $5-$20 per pouch at the most. Imo one of the best ways to do a budget build. You can do 2 level 4 or 3+ side plates for like 150-160 if u want too from a few reputable companies depending on if your carrier allows it.
@bomber, no, even having cheap gear can be beneficial over a t shirt with mags dropping out of your pockets. There’s always a place for a low cost setup such as your trunk or behind the seat of a truck. I’d rather have the ability to protect my vitals wearing a Condor or knock off rig carrying plates than a cotton shirt holding zero armor.
Not gonna beat a dead horse but anyone can throw shade about civilian training vs military and what not. But what it comes down to is are you proficient with your firearms or not. Every gun owner should strive to be a little knowledgeable about how to operate their firearm. If you just use that logic, this guy is above and beyond what we all wish we could be. He is better prepared for a gunfight than almost all civilians and several guys in uniform. You can’t hate on that. All you can do is sit back and applaud because he’s on point.
It seems like he is doing everything second nature without even thinking about it. I’ve shot a lot, but if I did this I’d probably end up shooting my foot off lol
Tip: you can tuck the mag flap (old mag pouches) in for faster reload, if it’s a situation where you know where you’ll be reloading quickly. Otherwise flap over means reloading in a unprepared situation.
The crazy part is that Lucas can probably outshoot more than half of the people that are not a civilian and are so called “warriors” 😂 I love it! Lucas you’re a beast my guy!
My deal with tactical reloads is I'd want the gun up and running before I'm messing with the mag going into a dump. My two cents. Always a fan of the content! Super useful data and info here.
Picked up a UCP camo plate carrier from Blackhawk for $133 on sale back well over 12 years ago. It was made in 2007. Still have it today and still rocking it. I just had to get everything else in UCP camo tho lol but it's all good. Good for urban environments and Canadian winters. Sometime having a basic PC with armor and pouches to carry your stuff is all you need. It might not seem like much but in 2022 with all of this talking about a potential WW3 and seeing civies in Ukraine with nothing but homemade bottles as weapons, having the least amount of tacticool gear is something to be grateful for. Heck even if it's airsoft grade, it's better than nothing.
@@brentparks2292 I don't knock progress but a lot of new gear would get absolutely shredded if dudes had to crawl around Afghan rock day in and day out for months. @@Donnydarco100 all still fantastic companies but mannnn back in like 2010-2015? Those were the OG gear companies everyone went after. Tactical Tailor made some amazing shit too. our ODA team sergeant had this sick backpack which at the time was revolutionary to me (me being an 11B saw gunner) that clipped onto your PC on the back. you just Molle two clips on top, two clips on the bottom, you fold in the backpack straps and you can just clip this bag on and off. I would just fill up 5 or 6 nut sacks for my saw, throw them in that backpack and roll into villages with that. If I ran out of ammo on my PC, I just unclipped the pack, pulled out more nut sacks, clipped it back on and I was ready to rock again. Still have that one to this day also its actually my work backpack. Too bad its not really a "grey man" pack because its in MC that clearly has afghan dust still in it XD
"did they leave any loot for me? anything in these pouches? some bubblegum, maybe a frag grenade? you forget any maps?" Ah....there's the EFT goblin coming out
Yeah plus Australian SOCOMD operators run their kit like that. The kangaroo dump pouch is actually there to hide erections according to a former 2CDO operator. Bc the boys would get stiffies before ops and afterwards, would conceal the package behind the dump pouch before heading to the porta John to chop that wood.

Some background on that carrier. Australian SF and some diggers purchased their own carrier in the early first decade of the Afghan war as issued gear was especially shit at the time. I haven't seen anyone outside of old reservists and gelsoft/cosplayers run that gear now. Most of the pouches will eithrt be eagle industries, sord, platatac or ADA i would wager.
Ok maybe you well know maybe not, any idea why Aussie SF dudes have a rubberband attached to the trigger guard and wrap around the magazine on their M4A5s?
@@mrcookiethief2128 i have seen one specific photo from a google search where that is done. The sidearm was also retained in the bladetech with a rubber band. My guess is it is a little more retention to stop the handgun or magazine being bumped and falling out during airborne or rapid vehicle ops. Only a guess though, never seen that done before.
I'm 95% sure the plate carrier is an Eagle Allied Industries MBSS. It was issued to Marine and Navy VBSS teams, an Force Recon and US Navy Seals. It was designed to accomodate flotation devices.

In other words, they shrank and you need to stretch them back out a bit. Thanks for well-detailed video and keep them coming.
Now do a 2am 4th of July Tarkov raid.
This kit sit up is giving me huge flashbacks to my early days in the Australian army, things have certainly improved since
Add a paint can opener to the kit, allows you to get spent jammed casings that don’t eject and are jam into the chamber. Works better than knife and multi tool. Can retain with string or paracord to your molle.
I love that early 2000s gear. I find those eagle industries style velcro mag pouches really quick to reload actually. Faster than retention tabs that you have to slide out of the way in my opinion
*T.REX ARMS* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. God Bless.
Still amazed by your transitions and reloads. You really show that training is number 1 regardless of gear. Train with what you have and make it work for you.
Happy Fourth of July! Blessing from Taiwan!🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼
台灣人被我找到了
Get ready
Taiwan is more pro American than Americans! Makes me happy bro!
I just wish we weren't so gay these days.
Right next door to "West Taiwan." I bet you understand the need to arm up. Stay safe over there.
Lucas clutching in with the late night upload 😂
Keep up the great work. You’re the reason I am passionate about firearms and training.
35:50 - 35:58
There's using your mag catch.......Then there's DOING a mag catch! :P
Love the concept of this video, all the info on the kit and all the work you fellas are doing. Keep it up brother
Also, in the Australian Army, we usually referred to dump pouches placed in that position as "Roo Pouches". Not even joking.
I like it! Roo it is.
Remember being issued this with and an Eagle MBAV by Marsoc in 2012, was a fantastic carrier when simplicity was key
Wouldn’t it help not wear on the guns finish as much ? And what about modern holsters from them now ?
Those are definitely double mag pouches, you just gotta get rough with them 2 or 3 times and they loosen up a bit.
Yep, double pouches, always load second mag to the rear, if too tight, get them wet and stretch them out with 2 mags and thin wooden shim boards. They'll loosen up. Make it happen or find a way.
"Bubble gum, maybe a frag grenade?"

Happy 4th of July from Czech republic! 🇨🇿🇺🇸
Thx bud. Much love from America
Not gonna lie. Probably my favorite trex arms video because I love watching people use cheap gear and slay targets.
I remember someone saying or maybe I read it somewhere “soft men create hard times. Hard times create hard men, hard men create good times. Good times create soft men.”
Food for thought.
The veterans, who had been to the campaigns, were keen to play these games, while the younger men, who had not been participants in real combat, did not love the games."
it's not food for thought. it's a nonsense quote promoting mochoism.
One scenario will definitely isolate the material strength of the wood over the other.
bro, you upload this now? i was about to go to bed 😂

Yo same 😂

Work at 6am but I’m here 🤷🏻♂️😂
i like the educational breakdowns of these videos, gives me a proper understanding of what exactly i’m looking at lol
All the mental training to stay awake at long late hours of the night.... Has finally paid off!
Lucas, screw the people giving you shit man. Keep it up, you're getting people into a hobby and giving them fundamentals that sets a solid base for future training. God bless you and the family. Stay up, G
Wear your kit, kings. Train and improve.
LARP on, you crazy boog boy 🤣
@@lucasblanchard47 Fudd
LOL Lucas you should totally do a ALICE rig I have a lot of it from growing up as a kid in a military family and I was in the woods with my father, uncles and older brothers all the time and they taught me everything They know, it’s awesome kit and doesn’t break the bank.
Please make that eBay series/channel. That would be crazy helpful!
It’s crazy how service members will look at a dude with better equipment and better training plus more time behind a gun and get upset just because he didn’t get yelled at and sent to a different country
looks like a plate carrier form "breach and clear" game in the past..
Pretty sure that game was sponsored by Mechanix gloves
@@kerbalairforce8802 yeah because all operators are on mechanix original gloves.
As a kid before shooting a new gun my dad always made me read the manual cover to cover. My uncle got a usp 40 when I was probably 10 so I have been aware of the decocker for 20 years now lol. Reading manuals isn't fun but it can prove to be useful from time to time.
That is a good idea but sounds brutal lol
I don't know if I have ever shot a DA/SA gun that didn't have a decocker on the safety like the USP.
most have one or the other, but not both.
Some CZs don’t
Sigs have a separate decocker.
@@rjones0429 the sigs usually have a decocker or a safety, in different places. I don’t think I’ve seen a SAO sig with a decocker, or a DA/SA sig with a decocker and a safety
@@0dayExploit my P226 just had the decocker, no safety.
Tim goes back and forth on gun control, he hired a private group to provide security at his skate park "ammo to train cost too much"
Tim is a literal millionaire. I don't want to hear him complaining about ammo costs
Puck Tim Foole
What we always did with those folding pouches was tuck the flap behind the magazine so you wouldn’t have to pull it
24:11 you use the decocker, apparently without knowing it had one 😂 I’d say that’s a good demonstration of effective training.
He uses a few times later in the video so I'm guessing he figured It out at some point and didn't say anything about it when on the range
All that's missing is some Mechanix impact gloves 😁😁
With index finger tip cut off
You can get 2 level 4 plates from botach for about 200, many decent plate carriers are 80-100, and you can get surplus rifle, grenade, radio, etc... pouches for dumb cheap like $5-$20 per pouch at the most. Imo one of the best ways to do a budget build. You can do 2 level 4 or 3+ side plates for like 150-160 if u want too from a few reputable companies depending on if your carrier allows it.
"A good kit violently executed now, is better than a perfect kit executed next week." - General George S. Patton (probably)
The gear you have is better than the gear you don't.
Uhhhh, no. There's shitloads of garbage gear that you'd be better off without.
@@brentparks2292 whatever you say bucko. 99% of guys running around with cheap gear have zero training, a plate carrier ain't gonna fix that.
When STHF, Lucas may shoot the fastest, but will certainly be the slowest in getting that plate carrier on... lol. Love ya sir; keep up the good work.
The front dump pouch and clip cummerbunds makes me think maybe this was an Aussie SF rig, or at least an impression kit
Quality content as always, thanks Lucas! Happy Independence Day
The crazy part is that Lucas can probably outshoot more than half of the people that are not a civilian and are so called “warriors” 😂 I love it!
Heck even if it's airsoft grade, it's better than nothing.
i remember when Eagle Industries was THE SHIT! I bought so much eagle and LBT stuff when i was in Afghanistan. LOL still the shit actually
its all about First Spear, Crye Precision, Spiritus and Ferro Concepts now.
Eagle, AWS, LBT, Mayflower are still great products and I’d rather have them than Gucci gear.
@@brentparks2292 I don't knock progress but a lot of new gear would get absolutely shredded if dudes had to crawl around Afghan rock day in and day out for months. Nothing really beats the old 1000D Cordura, even the issued stuff back then seemed thicker. Then again, our supply wasn't as quick and built up as it is today.
@@brentparks2292 to me I never even saw them as outdated products even today. Its funny how Lucas took an Eagle Industries MAP pack and was like "yea just get this cheap backpack!" and im like "CHEAP!?!??!" those things used to be like 250 from LBT. And even then, no one wanted the LBT one, everyone wanted the OG Eagle one. I remember when I scored an eagle map pack in multicam for deployment I was like "HOLY FUCK IM GONNA BE SET BOI!" HAHAHA and I still have it and still rock it on my JPC. MAP packs are my number 1 pack to run I love them. You can literally put anything you need in them
@@Donnydarco100 all still fantastic companies but mannnn back in like 2010-2015?
"did they leave any loot for me? anything in these pouches? some bubblegum, maybe a frag grenade? you forget any maps?"
Ah....there's the EFT goblin coming out
Dump pouch “in true Australian fashion” - is that a kangaroo reference? 😂
I see how you move, and how accurate you are. You are a warrior.
Now budget is "cool?" Damn
Everything will be OOS now
Normalize entry level gear.
@@kerbalairforce8802 I guess that's what I've been doing since I started owning gear. Atleast now I'm not alone. I dont buy cheap but I'm not going to fork over my rent money for high end gear.
Aero, crye jpc, 4400 hescos are in my price range and arent junk
Sks with stripper clips in fanny pack is the way to go.
I was a Marine, now a civilian there is no difference between us as long as we hold the same morals and fight for the same beliefs. Let us stand side by side all as Warrior's.
Ahmen brother. We're all going to need each other.
Not every gun tuber cant run and shoot but this one can
Wow I knew something about a gun that Lucas didn’t. What a crazy time to be alive ahah
Its a pretty legit setup for AUS SF in AFG late 2000s. Correct on the rubber band answer, though i always thought it was a bit over the top
I'm 95% sure the plate carrier is an Eagle Allied Industries MBSS. It was issued to Marine and Navy VBSS teams, an Force Recon and US Navy Seals. It was designed to accomodate flotation devices.
31:05 there goes a buck 😆 Happy 4th to all.
That plate carrier was definitely bought from an airsofter. That sling tied to the carrier was the giveaway. lol
Warrior is a mindset and lifestyle backed by training and the will to fight for a just cause! Keep grinding Lucas!!
Per your comment at 10:44, I do 100% want to see you make a video about ALICE gear. There are thousands of people who are using it and it’s cheap and durable. Even if we’re only buying them to set up as backup or “give away” rigs, they’re still seeing a lot of use.
Sometimes you have to work with what you can aford.👍👍👍👍👍
